The Truth About Michelle Duggar's Temper
Transcript
00:00The allegations against the Duggar family just keep, well, counting on. Parents Jim
00:06Bob and Michelle Duggar are no strangers to controversy. After the 2015 scandal that
00:11exposed their son Josh's history of abuse, the Duggars readjusted their reality TV spotlight
00:16following the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting.
00:19The truth comes out eventually, anyway, and it's not pretty.
00:23Daughter Jill Duggar-Dillard left the spinoff series Counting On in 2017,
00:27however, in an effort to distance herself from the family.
00:30One of her biggest reasons behind the fallout? Having to follow the Duggar family rules,
00:35which range from strict dress codes to questionable child-rearing techniques.
00:39No wonder the Duggar children got married young and tried to curb the Duggar dating restrictions.
00:44Some information has also come to light about matriarch Michelle's hot temper. According to
00:49a source for The Hollywood Gossip, it's only a matter of time until the off-camera
00:53modern ministry of the Duggar family is publicly revealed. Michelle has a slew of allegations
00:58against her that, if true, make her seem a little sketchy. There seems to be a dark side to both
01:03Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, as both parents allegedly threaten their brood with harsh
01:08consequences if certain lifestyle rules are not obeyed. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, son
01:13Josiah Duggar was, quote, married off to Lauren Swanson after clashing with his father. His
01:18rebellion of trying to date outside their strict courting custom led Josiah to be exiled by way
01:23of marriage. But that's not all. Michelle has been known to scream at her children,
01:28and the source for The Hollywood Gossip claimed,
01:30Michelle chases her kids to hit them with spoons or spatulas after the slightest disagreement.
01:36By God's grace, I chose to lower my voice and even whisper.
01:41These allegations seem to echo what son-in-law Derek Dillard captured on his Facebook Live,
01:45a video of Michelle intensely yelling at her young daughter. The social media post allegedly got
01:50Derek and Jill Duggar fired from the series — and estranged the family even further,
01:55according to ScreenRant.
01:57Mommy loves you, and I really am a nice person.
02:01Michelle has also been known to instruct her older children to parent the younger tots,
02:06seemingly not caring for all 19 of her children equally. Could this information damage the Duggar
02:11family brand even further? Aside from her alleged temper, Michelle probably hands out advice to her
02:16kids on the regular, like most parents. But because of her specific views, the conversations
02:21may get interesting when it comes to autonomy, agency, and consent. During a confessional on 19
02:26Kids & Counting, Michelle said,
02:28God talks about a wife doing her husband good and not evil all the days of our life. And I think that's
02:34what I say to my girls. You want to be your husband's biggest cheerleader. You want to be the
02:38one that always encourages him and doesn't put him down to other people, but really it is that
02:42one to just do him good all the days of his life. Her words may seem innocent — it might just depend
02:48on your interpretation of what she's trying to say. She added,
02:51That encompasses many things for a wife because in every area of life, when y'all are working
02:55through life together, you have many things that you can do that for him in many areas.
03:00As viewers would know, Michelle and Jim Bob don't follow traditional methods of parenting.
03:05Michelle famously told viewers that she used a buddy system
03:08while raising her kids, meaning the children were broken up into partnerships,
03:11which saw the older sibling taking care of the younger one, according to Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
03:15The system, while initially helpful, had fans concerned that the Duggar kids had a distant
03:20relationship with their parents. Also, Michelle's no TV ban left a bad impression on her daughter,
03:25Jill, who has said she would not parent like her mom. Jill's husband Derek told Us Weekly in
03:30March about how they parent their kids and control TV consumption, saying,
03:34We take the advice of our pediatrician and don't go beyond, like, two hours a day. We try to limit
03:39any in some days to, like, zero screen time, especially if the weather is really nice.
03:43But there are times where it might be more than two hours a day,
03:46but I can justify it in my head if I'm like, well, the last two days they didn't have any screen time.
