00:00We now know that Barack and Michelle Obama's Netflix-based production company,
00:03Higher Ground, has set an expansive first slate of projects.
00:06Included in the initial slate of seven projects are three features and four TV series,
00:11including one for preschoolers. President Obama said,
00:23The Obamas officially signed a multi-year exclusive producing deal with Netflix last May.
00:28The seven projects currently in various stages of development that are slated to be released
00:31over the next several years include the Sundance documentary American Factory,
00:36which takes a deep dive into post-industrial Ohio, where a Chinese billionaire opens a new factory
00:40in the husk of an abandoned General Motors plant and hires 2,000 blue-collar Americans.
00:45The drama Bloom, which is set in the world of fashion in post-World War II New York City
00:49and depicts barriers faced by women and by people of color.
00:52A feature film adaptation of the book Frederick Douglass' Prophet of Freedom,
00:56the scripted anthology TV series Overlooked, which is adapted from the New York Times'
01:00ongoing obituary column of the same name. The preschool TV series Listen to Your Vegetables
01:04and Eat Your Parents, a non-fiction series based on the book The Fifth Risk,
01:08Undoing Democracy, and the feature-length documentary film Crip Camp.
01:12Michelle Obama said,
01:13We think there's something here for everyone, moms and dads, curious kids,
01:17and anyone simply looking for an engaging, uplifting watch at the end of a busy day.
01:21We can't wait to see these projects come to life and the conversations they'll generate.
