00:00Dantewada, once known only for Naxal violence, is now witnessing a quiet revolution in farming.
00:14Thanks to the efforts of the government, the district administration and the agriculture
00:19department, farmers here are adopting a new and highly successful method called the ATM
00:26model of farming. Officials in the district, which is popular for organic farming, have
00:32trained 30 farmers to use this technique. The ATM method allows farmers to grow three
00:39to four types of vegetables together on a small plot of land. Just like withdrawing money from
00:46an ATM anytime, farmers can harvest fresh crops every 15 to 20 days.
00:56When farmers are paid, they will take away the vegetables from the farm, and they will
01:01save money from the farm. There are 4 or 5 acres of vegetables that are prepared in a different
01:06time.
01:09Leafy vegetables like spinach and fenugreek grow first, followed by radish and carrot, and
01:15later long-duration crops like tomato and brinjal grow. This multi-layer system reduces risk,
01:23increases profit, and provides steady income throughout the year.
01:29Farmers say their earnings have doubled and are stable now. On the other hand,
01:34officials said the model is spreading rapidly across Dantewada, bringing hope and stability to the region.
01:41To see our health to weoul andere is done in the community.
01:46There was a time when development and farming activities seemed impossible in
02:16these Naxal-hit areas.
02:18But now, farming has become a symbol of hope and stability, bringing a better future for
02:24people here.
