00:00Welcome to PTV Sports!
00:30Ito rin natin ang proud Pilipino athlete na nagdala ng bandera ng Pilipinas sa Dubai, Paolo Vignola, ICN athlete at 4th place pro-men's fitness model sa ICN World Natural Games sa UAE.
00:43Isang malaking achievement para sa ating bansa and of course, representing the growing natural bodybuilding movement.
01:01Gentlemen, welcome to the show!
01:04Welcome!
01:04Yes, we're very excited to know more about ICN, your advocacy, and your plans for the future.
01:11So my first question is for Sir Ricky Salomon.
01:14Sir Ricky, in a nutshell, what is ICN and what is your vision in the upcoming second edition of ICN that will happen this weekend?
01:25Yes, I compete natural Philippines is for all natural athletes dito sa bansa natin.
01:34So, kasi nakita ko over the years na, o nga sumusulong ang bodybuilding, but we as ICN in this country, is talagang gusto kong mapalago, lalo ang natural bodybuilding sa ating bansa.
01:53And I'm looking in a couple of years time na magkagaroon tayo ng malaking growth sa natural bodybuilding dito sa Pilipinas.
02:04Sir Ricky, for the second edition, ilang players po are we expecting to join and ilang categories po ba?
02:11Yes, sa division is like all of the divisions ng meron tayo.
02:21And also, if I'm not mistaken, it's less than 50 competitors that's coming, but they have a couple of entries, like it will blow out like 150 entries dito ngayong Sunday.
02:39For Sir Jose, what are you looking for in a Filipino athlete for this upcoming ICN Season 2?
02:50I was here on the first event and we saw a lot of talent.
02:54The Philippines have got a lot of talent, palo is a very good example.
02:58Yes, so we've been looking for similar athletes.
03:03There's a lot of new athletes in this event compared to the first one, so looking forward to seeing the Filipino talent here.
03:11There's a lot of them, so it's going to be very good.
03:14Sir, I have a follow-up question regarding to that.
03:16How do you compare the Filipino competitors to other countries?
03:19We just compare them through the criteria, okay?
03:24So, it just happens to have good genetics, good flow, good presentation.
03:31So, that's the advantage that the Filipino athletes have.
03:35They've got great genetics.
03:36Now, we have to work on the education and the coaching to bring out the best debt of the athletes here in the Philippines.
03:43But as a head judge, how do you balance objective judging in terms of conditioning and the prowess of an athlete?
03:54It's understanding the criteria.
03:56It all comes back down to criteria and how we interpret the criteria internationally.
04:01Because you could have an athlete that could look incredibly amazing, the crowd's going crazy for them,
04:08but they might not fit the criteria, so they might not necessarily win.
04:11So, we've got to make sure that we understand the criteria internationally.
04:16Speaking of criteria, to Sir Paolo's partner, meron lang ang follow-up.
04:26Good morning.
04:28Advice ko po sa mga natural athletes natin na Filipino is to push their best condition
04:35because that's what makes to be a different from others.
04:53And the ICN, I will guarantee po na kaya po talaga natin or kaya pong makapag-compete outside our country.
05:02And what mindset naman po, do you think na dapat nilang dalhin on stage?
05:07Mindset po, kailangan po talaga is consistency.
05:11Kasi sometimes, pagdating po dun sa show, minsan nagkakaroon na rin ng yung kaba or maraming changes na ginagawa mismo on the show day.
05:22And dapat consistent lang po.
05:23Ano yung naging habit nila nung preparation ng show, dapat hanggang sa show day, i-maintain nila yun.
05:37And nangyayari, yun importante po yung show day eh.
05:41Minsan dun pa po, minsan nag-fail or last minute nagkapamali ang mga athlete.
05:46Now, partner recently, si Paolo competed at ICN World Games.
05:51So, gano'ng kahirap nakipagsabayad sa ICN World Games compared with our local competitors?
05:58And what were the adjustments na ginawa mo during the competition?
06:02Aside po sa international stage siya, yung nilaruan ko po kasi dun sa Dubai is a professional category or meaning professional athletes na rin yung mga kasabayan natin.
06:14So, it is my pro debut that time.
06:45Yung conditioning kasi nila is almost the same na rin eh.
06:52So, kaya natin makipagsabayan internationally?
06:54Yes.
06:55Maybe the height only kasi syempre yung ibang...
06:58Yung difference.
06:58Yes, but that's not the huge criteria naman eh.
07:03Important is the conditioning nung ati and the shape.
07:07Ako naman, for Sir Jose, since you're the head judge, how do you maintain the credibility, transparency, and fairness in any natural bodybuilding competition?
07:20Yes, it goes back down, as I mentioned before, the international criteria.
07:24We're also very focused on the drug testing, because we want to make sure that we're all wider compliant, which is a well-dentered doping agency.
07:35Very important, so we can make sure that we have genuine natural athletes coming to on our stage.
07:42So, that's two major ones that we looked at.
07:45Education, coaches, athletes to understand what we're looking for.
07:49So, not just stepping on stage looking good, but we want them to be the best that they can be.
07:55So, it goes back down to drug testing and the criteria.
07:58Alright.
08:13Yes, that's a good question, kasi nung dumating ako righto sa Pilipinas, wala akong nakakilala sa akin.
08:32So, you can see me every day in social media na, ayun ang napakalaking, ano yun, na kagandang platforma para makilala ang ICN Philippines.
08:42And I know, we are the last federation, I think, na dumating dito sa Pilipinas.
08:49But, because of my hard work, passion, and love for natural bodybuilding,
09:01na for their, you know, so that they can showcase yung talento nila as a natural bodybuilder.
09:29But, this coming, you know, after this show, I will be using a lot of people from social media
10:02ang ICN Philippines or ICN Worldwide.
10:04But the thing is, ICN Worldwide, iCompete Natural, is the largest bodybuilding federation in the world.
10:24Sir Jose, how important is education and awareness in a country where athletes are unfamiliar with ICN?
10:32So, continuing on what Ricky said, the education component, doing seminars, doing posing classes,
10:42talking to coaches, and educating the community and building that really strong community
10:48because Philippines have got so much potential here.
10:51It just will take some effort and he's very passionate about what he does.
10:55That's why I'm here to support him.
10:58And athletes like Paolo, they're very, they love natural bodybuilding and that's what we're all about.
11:04So, I think it's just having open communication with the community,
11:08coaches, educating, doing posing classes, judges' classes, and just continuing on that development.
11:17You know what, partner? I think I already got my answer because my question was,
11:22why should the fitness community support this event?
11:25Pero nakita ko yung passion and dedication nitong ni Sir Ricky.
11:28Kaya mas maganda talagang supportahan sila.
11:30But do you also get the support from your LGU po or National Sports Organization or sa government, any government?
11:37Sa ngayon nga wala eh. So, I was, um, the last time, I was, um, uh, I emailed the PSC chairman before,
11:48but, um, walang response. But the thing is, siyempre, bago lang ang ICN Philippines
11:53and we want to, um, uh, produce more, you know, makilala tayo
12:00and bago tayo maan ng, ng, ng, ng gobyerno. But the thing is, we are, uh, padating tayo dyan.
12:06Process.
12:07Siyempre, yung process, uh, ano. Kailangan lang patunayan natin na,
12:11ang ICN Philippines is para talaga sa natural bodybuilders and, uh, athletes.
12:19Now, Paulo is also one of the judges sa ICN Season 2.
12:24What can we expect doon sa event na ito bilang judge?
12:27Um, also, this is my first time to be a judge, uh, for this event.
12:53Um, the conditioning, the shape, uh, kailangan balance din eh.
12:57Uh, um, hindi naman kailangan, or there is a criteria, uh, or there is a division na dapat para din sa athlete.
13:05Because sometimes, um, they have a good, good, uh, good shape, good condition, but they are not fit for the division.
13:12So, we will just follow the criteria based on the division they will, uh, join.
13:17So, um, for you.
13:18Sir, speaking of yung sa shape and conditioning, what are the tips ba, or yung mga secret as a bodybuilder?
13:25Actually, sa, uh, uh, pagdating po sa, uh, uh, uh, conditioning, um, uh, advice ko is sa food po talaga, no?
13:32And dapat maging consistent.
13:34Kasi, sometimes, mas nag-focus dun sa training, sa workout, and not focusing on the food.
13:42And also, more important din yung recovery.
13:44Recovery, yes.
13:45Yung napansin ko rin kasi dun sa last showing ko, uh, medyo hindi optimal yung aking recovery because, uh, the training and the food is on point, but the recovery is not, um, uh, masyadong nabigyan ng pansin.
14:00So, na-overtrain siya.
14:01So, but overall, uh, good showing din naman nung past show.
14:05Uh, to be better, kailangan lang po, kompleto yung taplo na yun, ay training, recovery, and the food.
14:20Um, malaking bagay po, no?
14:22Uh, uh, naging drug-free tayo as an athlete.
14:24Um, because also, um, background ko, I'm also a registered nurse.
14:30So, may knowledge din about sa mga drugs.
14:33Um, and what I've studied, lahat naman ng drugs kasi po is may side effects siya.
14:38So, and also, uh, yung mga, uh, for the performance-enhanced drug, um, they are made for, to cure illness, not for the sports.
14:49So, meaning, ginagamit siya, um, although yun nga, yung risk may side effects talaga siya.
14:54So, for the long, for the long run, um, para mas maging optimal yung health natin, mas advice ko is maging natural tayo.
15:02Kasi kaya naman maging, ano eh, maging athlete po, maging natural without using any drugs.
15:12Right, which is true kasi madami akong napapabalita.
15:22somehow may very negative effects sa ating kalisutan.
15:38Yes, uh, talagang napaka-importante, no?
15:41Kasi, as I had said, um, a while ago na wala nakakilala sa akin dito sa Pilipinas when I become appointed as a ISEN President of the Philippines.
16:14On that note, kindly invite our viewers to support the second edition of I compete natural this coming weekend.
16:22Yes, uh, lahat ng mga, ano, atleta dito sa Pilipinas, uh, kung, uh, we are going live this, uh, sa, ano, this 29 and 30 of, uh, November, sa Chiang Kai Sec College, uh, Manila, Tondo, Manila.
16:52And we are, um, assuring that, uh, we will give the best show ngayong linggo.
17:00Maraming, maraming salamat, gentlemen, and thank you for gracing our show.
17:03Maraming salamat, thank you, thank you, thank you, boys.
17:06Maraming salamat.
17:06Maraming salamat.
