Water quality results for Kent beaches revealed as swimming ban at Deal to be lifted
Transcript
00:00So the Environment Agency is responsible for doing the sampling, so monitoring the
00:04quality of our bathing waters during the bathing water season, so that's the
00:08middle of May to the end of September every year. Our samplers go out, take
00:13some samples and then our labs analyse those results. So it takes four years
00:18worth of data which is pulled together by clever statisticians who will then
00:23classify the the general water quality of a bathing water for that year.
00:29It's an absolutely fantastic result for this year, so really a testament to the
00:34partnership working that's gone on at Dealcastle. So lots of intelligence from
00:42the community, from the councils and us working with the water company, all that
00:48work has kind of pulled together to really see the improvements. It's fantastic that
00:54it's jumped from poor to good, just really shows that the work that's been
00:59carried out has made a significant difference and it's the results in
01:04themselves that demonstrate that the water quality was so much improved this
01:10year that it's managed to get up to good rather than go to sufficient which is
01:13fantastic. The community know their rivers, they know their sea, if they see
01:18something untoward then to please report it to us because the more intelligence that
01:23we have, the quicker we can be to sorting out the problem. So yeah anything
01:29that's identified, if they can report to us that would be brilliant.
