00:00Yes, hello everybody, a warm welcome to all.
00:06FC Bayern is looking forward for the Champions League match tomorrow against Arsenal.
00:11And the day before, as usual, we start with a press conference, right now with Harry Kane.
00:15Hi, Harry.
00:16Hello.
00:17Welcome, hello.
00:18And yes, let's go where the first question.
00:21First of all, Julian Wolf.
00:26Hi, Harry. Good evening.
00:28Harry Arsene is very, very strong.
00:30What do you think, what is the key tomorrow?
00:32What will be the key and what kind of match do you expect?
00:36Yeah, it will be a really tough game for sure.
00:38Obviously, they're top of the Premier League for a reason.
00:41They've won every game in the Champions League for a reason.
00:44They have good habits as a team.
00:46They've been working with Mikel now for a long time
00:49and I think you see the way they set up, the way they get second balls,
00:55the way they play obviously can be really dangerous.
00:58And then we've set pieces added to that as well.
01:00They're obviously, yeah, a really solid team.
01:03So we have to try and match them in all those departments.
01:07We have to try and play in our way, in our style,
01:10try and make it difficult for them to get the ball,
01:13try and keep the momentum on our side and use kind of our strengths as well
01:18to try and win the ball back quick when they have it.
01:21So we'll be, you know, two of the best teams in Europe
01:24going at each other tomorrow night
01:27and we're looking forward to kind of testing ourselves
01:29against a team like that.
01:35Hi Harry.
01:36We all know you love scoring against every team in the world,
01:39but is scoring against Arsenal even more fun for you out of several reasons?
01:43I'm not too sure.
01:45Obviously, when I was at Tottenham in those days,
01:48it was always a big game, always a big moment in the North London derby.
01:53But yeah, ultimately, you know, the game isn't about me and Arsenal.
01:58The game is about Bayern Munich and Arsenal
02:00and obviously I'm in good form
02:02and I feel like I can score against any team
02:04and hopefully tomorrow night I can do that as well.
02:07But I don't think it means any more or less in that sense.
02:10It's about trying to help my team to win the game
02:14and that's what I'll try and do tomorrow.
02:18Hi Harry.
02:19Everybody said your first half,
02:21the first half of Bayern Munich against Paris
02:23was the best one since four years.
02:26Is it even possible to do it again,
02:29such a big game against a top team like Arsenal?
02:34I think the game will be different.
02:35I think PSG play in a different style to Arsenal.
02:39So from that sense, we'll have to wait and see.
02:43Obviously, that was a big moment for us,
02:46a big confidence boost for us to be able to play that
02:49against the reigning European champions away from home.
02:52Tomorrow will be another tough game away from home.
02:55But, you know, we have to see how the game goes.
02:57I think we've shown, especially this season, in the style that we play,
03:01in the enthusiasm and the energy that we bring.
03:04We try and take, you know, our level to a period where teams find it hard to match it.
03:11And we've done that in the, especially the first half against PSG.
03:15So we'll try and do the same tomorrow.
03:17I think defensively, Arsenal play a little bit more solid and a little bit more structured
03:22than, you know, we've played PSG before.
03:25And it's a lot of man-for-man press, a lot of man-for-man drills.
03:28So from that sense, it'll be a little bit different.
03:30But ultimately, yeah, we'll try and play in our best way possible.
03:34And we know, you know, if we get it right, we can be dangerous against anyone.
03:38Hi, Harry. Just speaking about defensively, when you don't have the ball in terms of pressing,
03:44I suppose Martin Zouba-Mendy has been so crucial for Arsenal this year
03:48in that deep-lying playmaker role.
03:50He almost knits everything together.
03:52Is that going to be an influence for you to press him high up the pitch and press him,
03:56not to let him dictate the tempo of the game?
03:58Yeah, I think against any good player, you know, no matter who they are,
04:02if you don't give them time on the ball, it can be difficult.
04:05And we've done that against every team we've played, especially this season,
04:10no matter the opposition and no matter the opponent.
04:12So, yeah, tomorrow will be no different.
04:14You know, you know the way we like to play
04:18and you've seen the way we like to press and win the ball back quickly
04:21and almost encourage teams to try and play
04:23because we create a lot of chances from winning the ball back high.
04:26But also, Arsenal will know that as well.
04:29And they know the risk that comes with playing.
04:31So, I can imagine it will be a battle of, you know, playing out of tight areas
04:35and who can do it better.
04:37And, yeah, we always back ourselves to be the ones to try and win the ball back high at the pitch.
04:43Hi there, Harry.
04:47Hi, Harry. You've got an unbelievable record against Arsenal.
04:50And previously you said that you had a bit of a chip on your shoulder when you've played against them
04:55just because you were, you know, with them briefly as a youngster.
04:58Do you still use that as an extra edge?
05:00Is that why your record is so, you know, incredible against them?
05:03Yeah, I'm not too sure.
05:05Maybe subconsciously that's the case.
05:09I think, obviously, like I spoke about with Tottenham, it was always a big game.
05:13It was always one of the biggest games of the season playing against Arsenal.
05:16I have a lot of friends who are Arsenal fans, a lot of friends who are Tottenham fans.
05:20You know, kind of, there's a feeling around it.
05:22With Bayern, it's a little bit different because, obviously, we don't play against them a lot.
05:26We played against them a couple of years ago in the quarter-final,
05:29which was a big win for us.
05:32So, from my point of view, maybe it just gives me a little bit more joy.
05:38But, ultimately, you know, it comes down to winning the game as well.
05:42If I score and we don't win, it's not going to matter.
05:44So, my record is okay here at the stadium.
05:47I've scored a lot of goals but haven't won loads of games.
05:50So, it would be nice if that can change tomorrow night.
05:54Hi there, Harry.
05:55Hi.
05:56You mentioned that game two seasons ago.
05:58What have you made of Arsenal and their development since that game in the Champions League?
06:04Yeah, I think they've just got a bit more experience.
06:06They've got a bit more solid.
06:09They still probably play in similar patterns to what they did then.
06:13But I think just defensively, yeah, their structure is harder to break down.
06:18And just probably more experience, I'll go back to, I think,
06:21when you've been under the same coach for a while and learnt from title races,
06:26learnt from Champions League campaigns.
06:28Ultimately, you learn as a player and get better as a player.
06:31And I think them as a squad, plus some of the additions they've added as well,
06:34has helped them to grow.
06:36And that's why they're in the position they are now.
06:38And like I said earlier, it would be a good test for us to see where we're at tomorrow night.
06:43Next one.
06:44Hi, can you do that?
06:45Yeah.
06:46Hi, Harry.
06:47There's been a lot of talk about Leonard Karl in Germany recently.
06:49Can you explain a little bit what kind of a player he is?
06:53And do you think he's ready for a game like tomorrow?
06:55Yeah, I think he's ready.
06:56I think he's shown he's ready in every kind of moment he's played for us this season.
07:02I don't think it matters too much of the age.
07:04I think you see the confidence he has.
07:05I think you see the ability of playing under pressure, playing in tight areas.
07:09He's really quick, really agile.
07:10So he's hard to kind of man-mark in a way.
07:14And yeah, he's a good player.
07:16You know, from our point of view, we're really happy he's doing what he's doing.
07:20I think he just needs to continue that, continues to work hard.
07:23I think he's got a great group to be around.
07:26He's got a great manager to be working under
07:29who will keep him free in terms of expressing himself,
07:33but also level-headed to not get carried away.
07:35And yeah, if he plays tomorrow night, I'm sure he'll be excited
07:39and I'm sure he'll try and get on the ball and make a difference
07:41like he has done in his previous starts as well.
07:45Next one, Fleur.
07:47Hi, Harry.
07:48If you compare the Bayern matches now with one year before,
07:52there were some problems against Barcelona, for example.
07:56What is the big difference compared to one year before
07:59and winning the Champions League in your career?
08:02What would it mean to you?
08:03And do you see there as a serious chance this year? Thanks.
08:08Yeah, for me it would mean an awful lot to win a trophy like this.
08:13To have that on my resume as well would be incredible.
08:17I think we're going as one of the favourites this year for sure.
08:21I think we learnt a lot from last year, like you touched on there,
08:24some of the games like Barcelona in terms of how we press and still being aggressive,
08:30but with certain habits that will help us not always be man for man and be so open.
08:36And I think you've seen that evolve over the last nine months, eight to nine months, I'd say.
08:43And you've seen this season, I think just from a consistent point of view, how good we've been.
08:49And yeah, we speak about that game every now and then, to be honest, and what we learnt from that game.
08:54And yeah, I feel like the team and the squad is just understanding the ideas more, both with and without the ball.
09:01And we look back at that game as one of the turning points.
09:05I think we went on to have eight clean sheets in a row after that Barcelona game.
09:08So we learnt a lot and we kind of continued that progress into this season as well.
09:12Hi Harry, just to ask you about Michael Alisa, you would have played against him in the Premier League with Spurs.
09:21And he was, you know, obviously a superb player at Palace, but how much has he improved now?
09:25And how, you know, playing with him week in, week out at Bayern?
09:28Yeah, really, really great guy, Michael, really great professional.
09:33Yeah, obviously played against him a little bit.
09:35I don't think we actually played that much against each other in the Prem, but you could see the quality he had.
09:40But I think the biggest thing for me is his attitude and the way he conducts himself every day.
09:45Always willing to learn, always willing to improve, train hard, work hard in the gym.
09:50And I think you've just seen an evolution of him coming to a bigger team, a better team with better players around him.
09:56And he's just kind of flourished in that environment.
10:01And, you know, the form he's in at the moment is as high as I've seen him in the kind of 18 months or just under 18 months we've been together.
10:09And I can only see him getting better as well.
10:12So, you know, it'll be a tough test for him tomorrow.
10:15It'll be a good battle, but, you know, he's full of confidence right now.
10:18And so we should be.
10:19Next one on the left side.
10:21Give it a hand side, please.
10:22Good evening, Harry.
10:23Welcome back to England.
10:24I'm Daniel from Benchfuse.
10:26You're going to be sharing a picture of a number of your England peers tomorrow.
10:29Does that give the fixture a little bit of an extra kick?
10:31And has there been any games on ship between you guys?
10:34We spoke about the game a little bit when we were in England camp a couple of weeks ago.
10:38And just the general banter that happens.
10:40And, yeah, I think we're all looking forward to it.
10:43Obviously, it's good from an England point of view to see those guys doing as well as they are.
10:48And that's only going to help us as a national team.
10:51I think also playing in big games like this will help, you know, come the World Cup next summer as well.
10:56So, you know, come game time, it's about the teams.
11:00And, you know, we'll be focused on our own performances and not worried about the friendship.
11:06And then I'm sure after we'll catch up.
11:08But, yeah, I think both teams are in a really good moment.
11:13Both teams are top of their leagues.
11:15We're even in points in the Champions League.
11:17So it's almost a game just to feel a bit free and just kind of express ourselves and see, you know, where that takes us.
11:26Okay.
11:27Hi, Harry.
11:28It's Boris from Antenna 5.
11:29You spoke how you will press Arsenal tomorrow, how you play on the field.
11:34But they are the kings of set plays.
11:37And they're very effective from dead ball situations.
11:41Did you plan in training how you would counter this threat?
11:47And also, I don't know if you follow the Premier League.
11:50This season, there's more goals from set plays than from open play.
11:54Will that change football at all?
11:56Yeah, from the second point, you know, there's definitely been more set plays.
12:01Watching the Premier League is probably a little less enjoyable than what it has been in recent years, to be honest.
12:08But that's kind of the evolution of football.
12:10Sometimes it comes in like this.
12:12And that's the case this year.
12:13Arsenal, you know, capitalized on that.
12:16And they're a really strong set plays team.
12:18We've done our normal preparation that we do in every game.
12:23Obviously, we looked at what they do well and their threats and how, you know, we can try and stop that.
12:28The best way of stopping that is not giving set plays away, which we're, you know, hoping to try and do as little as possible if we can control the game in the way that we want to control the game.
12:37But obviously, they're going to have some and it's just a matter of, you know, showing some personality, winning the duels.
12:43We spoke about that, which we didn't do as well on the weekend.
12:46And, you know, even for the more experienced players to stand up and make sure that, you know, when those occasions do arise, that, you know, we're willing to defend them well.
12:57Let's have two more. Yes, on the left side, please.
13:00Yeah.
13:01Hi.
13:02Harry Lorenzia from Edeskitan in South Africa.
13:04A lot was made about Africa.
13:06A lot was made about Vincent Company when he was appointed.
13:10Obviously, coming from Burnley, we were relegated.
13:12Globally, they were talking about how this could happen.
13:15But obviously, it started really well, one of the informed teams in Europe.
13:20What has he done since coming into you personally as a center forward because you've been in incredible form?
13:27And what have you made of his management style as a new modern coach?
13:31Yeah, I can't speak highly enough of him, to be honest.
13:34I think from everything, from the way we play, from the way we train, from the way he is with the team, in the meeting room, around the place,
13:43I think he sets the example of how, you know, a team is built and how a team should behave.
13:50In terms of how we play, I think it's, you know, bring out an even better side of my game
13:56and allowed me to, you know, express some of the qualities that, you know, maybe I didn't always express
14:03playing as just an out-and-out nine.
14:06And yeah, just kind of the fearlessness and, you know, pressing high, wanting the ball,
14:12not being afraid to play 1v1 and just kind of having that mindset of, you know, we're going to be the dominant team.
14:20And he's just brought a great confidence to everyone.
14:24I think you've seen not just me, but other players improve as well and understand the game in different ways.
14:30And yeah, I've been really impressed working with him and, you know, hopefully this season we can kind of have the reward of the work that we're putting in.
14:42Okay, the last one, please. Yes.
14:44Hi, Harry. There's been some talk about your future today.
14:48You said it's very unlikely that anything will change after this season.
14:52Do you see yourself playing at Bayern Munich for a good few years yet?
14:56And how has the move improved you as a player and taken your game on?
15:01Yeah, the move has been, I think, one of the best decisions in my life.
15:05I've loved every moment of it, I think, to experience a new league, to experience a team like Bayern Munich
15:13and, you know, have these European nights, have the atmospheres in the German league
15:18and just surround myself in different cultures and different players, I think, has been a great step in my career.
15:25I think it's helped me kind of evolve as a player, helped me improve as a player.
15:29And I think you're seeing that version of me right now, really.
15:35And what was the first point you said there, sorry?
15:39Did you see yourself being at Bayern Munich for a good few years yet?
15:42Yeah, I spoke about this before, I'm quite open to staying longer.
15:46I think the way we are right now and the way we're playing,
15:50you know, I feel like we're one of the best teams in Europe for sure,
15:53so I don't look at any other team and feel like, you know, I want to go there and improve there.
15:57I think at the moment I'm really happy here and, you know, I've got 18, just over 18 months left on my contract
16:02and I'm sure there'll be some discussions over the next couple of months on the future
16:07and what Bayern want to do because also they want to do it if I was to extend.
16:12So all I can say right now is I'm really happy here and I can't see anything changing in the near future.
16:17Okay, thanks Harry.
16:19We will continue.
