00:00The country's economy is only as good as the uninterrupted supply of power that runs the machines in our homes, workplaces, factories and industries.
00:09Energy that is reliable, sustainable and affordable.
00:12And a socialized housing project in Naikavite, powered by solar, has brought tremendous incentives and substantially lower costs for the thousands of its resident beneficiaries.
00:23I have the details on this report gathered by our Clayzel Pardilia.
00:30Three solar panels are installed on the roof of every home in the subdivision in Naikavite.
00:34These form part of the Ningning 6.55-megawatt solar rooftop power facility, inspected today by President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr.
00:42The project aims to harness and deliver clean and reliable energy, using the rooftops of about 2,000 homes under the socialized housing program of Bagibig and Pasenaya Homes.
00:52Solar panels were installed to absorb sunlight and convert it into power.
00:56The system can generate up to 6.55 megawatts of electricity, enough to supply power to nearly 26,000 households across Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.
01:49The generated power is sold to distribution utilities such as Miralco.
01:53Meanwhile, the homeowners whose roofs host the solar panels no longer had to pay a down payment for their housing units.
01:59The 50,000 pesos miscellaneous fee was also removed.
02:02Each homeowner receives a 100 peso monthly incentive used as community assurance support,
02:07including CCTVs, village lighting and waste collection.
02:11A big help, especially for residents like Grace, a mother of two.
02:14Mahalagayin ma'am kasi nakakabawas na rin po yun sa pang-araw-araw naming mga bayarin, gastusin yun po.
02:22In other words, the energy that we produce here will power a better life for the people who live in this community, but even beyond this community.
02:33President Marcos also assured that the government will streamline processes for the construction of projects like this to strengthen energy programs nationwide.
02:40Such initiatives, he said, showcase the unity of government, the private sector and local communities working together toward a brighter, more sustainable future.
