00:00Snickers of the ASU, good luck with that.
00:02But is everything fair in love and politics?
00:06Kimberly's on the case.
00:08All right, Geraldo.
00:08Yeah, quite a spectacle with that press conference.
00:11Tonight, I'm taking on last Sunday night's wildly controversial episode of Fox's Own Family Guy.
00:17Many of you probably saw it, featuring a Down syndrome character that's got a lot of people heated.
00:22And it's still making headlines as the show's creator and star character are speaking out about it.
00:27Well, first, in case you missed it, take a look at this.
00:32You're going to be this rude all evening?
00:35You haven't asked me anything about myself.
00:38Oh, um, sorry.
00:40Um, uh, so what do your parents do?
00:42That's better.
00:43My dad's an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska.
00:49Well, Governor Sarah Palin, who we all know has a son with Down syndrome,
00:52came out swinging, and she publicly demanded an apology.
00:57When is enough enough?
00:59And when are we going to be willing to say, you know, some things just aren't really funny?
01:04No, I agree with you.
01:05Look, this guy McFarlane who did this, this guy McFarlane who did this is a hater,
01:10makes a lot of money for Fox, but I think there should be some standards at some time,
01:15but apparently there are.
01:16Well, this is what Bristol said about it, too, though.
01:19Bristol reminded me, and she'll remind these million-plus Facebook readers,
01:23she's going to remind people that those in the special-needs community
01:26truly are some of the most loving and compassionate people in the world.
01:31So why pile it on to them and make their lives even that much more challenging?
01:37So that's Sarah's take.
01:38But the woman at the center of the storm, who has Down syndrome herself,
01:42says she finds the joke very funny, and she kind of doesn't understand the uproar.
01:47She says, I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor.
01:51I thought the line, I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska, was very funny.
01:55I think the word is sarcasm.
01:58Well, and leave it to the Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane.
02:00He's weighed in on this as well.
02:02Here's his voice of reason, the cartoon creator turned philosopher on Bill Maher.
02:06Take a look.
02:08You're not going to call a person with a mental challenge retarded.
02:12You're just not going to do that.
02:12We don't, we, that's not what, that's, no one with any sense uses that term in that way.
02:17But this is an actress who was, who was frustrated by this
02:20because what Sarah Palin, I think, was doing was coming out and saying,
02:23I'm here to defend you.
02:25And, and what Andrea, the actress, had said was, you know, this, this is, I don't need this.
02:31I love my life.
02:31I don't need you to, to, to use this, this, you know, piece, piece of cartoon footage
02:38to inspire phony pity.
02:41All right, well, that's his take.
02:43Geraldo, you know, it's a hot topic.
02:45Everybody's got opinions about it.
02:46I worked with special needs children, so did my mother.
02:48I don't think it's funny.
02:49I like the show, but I think this was unnecessary.
02:52And I think she's right.
02:53She should get an apology.
02:54So you think that there should be some boundaries beyond which people should not go
02:58in political discourse, even in satire?
03:00I do, especially when it comes to children.
03:03These children are so sweet with special needs.
03:05I just don't think we should be making laughs at their expense.
03:08Tucker, you agree?
03:08Tucker Carlson?
03:09Well, I don't know if I'd make...
03:11Well, I don't know if I'd make...
03:11Well, I don't know if I'd make...
