Mallika Achuthan Menon - Illusion

When the world sank in depth of SLEEP
Silence dawned on earth so DEEP

I dreamt an awesome fleeting DREAM,
proffered golden wings with GLEAM

Then I transformed as a BUTTERFLY
Of vibrant hues that BEAUTIFY

my pretty pinions and body TOO
Were painted lovely with a TATTOO.
.
Both the wings widely SPREAD
I wandered hither and yon AHEAD

To sup up nectar from FLORAS
Who were in their FEDORAS

Readily welcomed me MERRILY
Whose lives lasted MOMENTARILY

They let me rest in pollen PALLET
Scented petals turned as BLANKET.

Their intense fragrance as a KEEPSAKE
Gifted me with a hug and HANDSHAKE.

Then by forgetting the world AROUND
the me in me just felt ASTOUND!


I in disguise of BUTTERFLY
In my fabby dream that running BY

tried another try to wander so HIGH
In the wings of clouds passing near BY

Many clouds rolled past my head FAST
roof of azure was about to BLAST.

After thunder and silver LIGHTINING
The skyline was again GRINNING.

Tiny twinkling stars ARREYED
in the night's black shaded ARCADE.

The comely moon was smiling NEAR
strewed silver driblets here and THERE

I forgot myself and the world AROUND
maundered there and felt ASTOUND.

My sleep melted in the waning NIGHT,   
dream got vanished along with IT.

I wish to live in pretty DREAMS
The splendid boon to us it SEEMS.
