00:00Akuna Matata, what a wonderful phrase that we may hear Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner sing
00:12as they are in talks to voice Pumbaa and Timon, respectively, in the upcoming Lion King remake.
00:18Hmm, wonder how they'll do as a team?
00:20Well, we know they're fun together in public, as seen recently on Eichner's true TV show, Billy on the Street.
00:25Seth Rogen is alive, he's right here!
00:27Yes, alive and well, and now possibly coming to the Mighty Jungle, along with Donald Glover,
00:32who is set to star as Simba, and James Earl Jones, who will reprise his role from the 1994 animated classic as Mufasa.
00:40You are my son.
00:42I'm sorry, Mufasa.
00:44Jon Favreau is set to direct, building on the work he did on The Jungle Book to create a live-action-looking film
00:50using cutting-edge technology and a green screen.
00:52In a Q&A at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, Favreau revealed to Scarlett Johansson
00:57that he's daunted by the prospect of taking on a title that people have watched multiple times.
01:02It's about the audience having the experience they're hoping they have, and if you can surprise them along the way,
01:08they'll enjoy it even more.
01:10But you gotta live up to what they want, so you get greater pressure with these beloved stories, he said.
01:15The original voices of Nathan Lane as Timon and Ernie Sabella as the kindly Warthog Pumbaa are burned in our memories.
01:24So how would a Seth Rogen Pumbaa sound anyway?
01:27H-h-h-h-hakuna matata.
01:29Alright, Rogen has of course voiced animated characters in films before, including Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs. Aliens,
01:36and last year's Sausage Party, which he also co-wrote and produced.
01:39And how about Eichner as Timon?
01:41Eichner's best known as the aggressively inquisitive host of Billy on the Street,
01:45stars in the Hulu series Difficult People,
01:47and has been seen on Parks and Recreation and the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
01:51These castings come on the heels of more big news for the Lion King production.
01:55On Tuesday, Disney gave the project a release date of Listen Up Guys, July 19th, 2019,
02:00as it also provided rollout dates for Indiana Jones, Frozen 2, and Star Wars Episode IX.
