Eddie Howe reflected on his side's 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League
Transcript
00:00Yeah, it was. I think we had a long, long wait in between the Brentford game and this game.
00:05In some respects, that was probably a good thing because it allowed us time to reflect, but then time to work.
00:11And the players that stayed will vouch for that.
00:14You know, we tried to re-find our energy and our athleticism through training.
00:19And of course, there was a group with us. There wasn't the whole squad.
00:24And we tried to then instill that into the guys that came back from international duty,
00:27that this is what we've worked on and this is what we need to deliver.
00:30And the players didn't let us down. They were magnificent today.
00:32The heart and energy and athleticism was there and it needed to be because playing such a good opponent,
00:37one mistake and you're going to get punished.
00:39I thought it was a really high-level game against two really good teams.
00:42And Harvey Barnes, with those two goals, that sort of sums him up really, doesn't it?
00:47Yeah, it does. I think Harvey never really gets affected by missing.
00:51I think that's a great asset to have as a goal scorer and he's certainly that.
00:54His record for a wide player is incredible in front of goal.
00:57And the first goal was probably the hardest of the lot.
00:59It was an unbelievable finish.
01:02The second one's about his instincts and being in the right place at the right time.
01:05Really, really pleased for him.
01:06He's a great person, great professional.
01:09He always gives his best and great to see him rewarded with the two goals today.
01:12Do you take any extra satisfaction out of that?
01:15I just take satisfaction out of winning and whether there's extra, no,
01:20because the only satisfaction is trying to get a positive result and we needed it today.
01:27You know, we're under no illusions, we're under pressure
01:28and we were playing the best team in the Premier League over the last God knows how long.
01:34And our record against them has not been good.
01:35So a lot came together today.
01:37Most of all, I'm delighted for the players.
01:40Demian?
01:42No, genuinely it doesn't.
01:44It means something to beat Manchester City for Newcastle.
01:47That's the thing.
01:50My individual, it's irrelevant.
01:53Although, I have to say, we've had some painful moments over the years,
01:58really painful moments and every defeat's painful.
02:02And you remember, I remember every single one.
02:04So it's nice to win for the team and we needed it in the Premier League.
02:08You know, we knew the league position wasn't good enough.
02:12So it can't...
