00:00Tony Khan highlights the irony of Eric Bischoff, criticizing AEW.
00:05During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani show, All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan
00:10was asked about his thoughts on the constant criticism of his product from the likes of
00:14Jim Cornette and Eric Bischoff.
00:17Khan responded by praising Bischoff for WCW's successful run in the mid-90s.
00:22He added that he didn't agree with many of Eric's creative decisions as a kid, but appreciated
00:26others as a wrestling fan.
00:28I think it's ironic coming from Eric, because Eric sat in that position, Khan said.
00:35He was making a lot of great moves, and he had a run that is unbelievably successful
00:39when you look back at what he accomplished from 1995 to 1998.
00:44It was unbelievable.
00:45He still did some good things in those other years, and he did a lot.
00:49It wasn't like everything he did from 1995 to 1998 was 100% perfect, 52 weeks a year,
00:55but he did some really incredible things.
00:58The sum of his accomplishments is unbelievable, and he still talks about it to this day.
01:0483 Weeks is something that is synonymous with Eric and his brand.
01:08It's the name of his show, and it's incredibly impressive.
01:11I was also one of the wrestling fans as a kid, when I was like 11, 12, 13 years old, who was
01:18critical at times of some of the things Eric did, but also appreciative at times.
01:23I was more balanced than some, but I understand what it is to be a wrestling fan and have certain
01:27things you want and expect out of a wrestling show.
01:31I think Eric did a lot of those things.
01:33He has a really good understanding of what it is to be on TBS, to be on TNT, to put on
01:40pay-per-views, and to work with the executives at Turner.
01:43Even some of the people who've been there for 30 years have worked with both of us through
01:47different administrations, which is incredible.
01:50I've talked to him about that at times.
01:52I do respect his opinions.
01:54I think he talks about AEW a lot, because AEW is on every Wednesday night and every Saturday
02:00night, and it gives him good content to talk about.
02:03He talks a lot about AEW, but also knows many media voices, and former promoters have strong
02:08opinions about him.
02:09I'm not saying I've done more than he has.
02:12Everyone gets their say.
02:13But Eric's unique, because he's been in the chair, made the tough calls, and understands
02:18you can only move forward and learn from the past.
