00:05saying her ongoing criticism makes him sad. The Harry Potter author has made headlines in
00:11recent years for her social media campaigning against the trans rights movement. Rowling
00:16recently wrote on social media saying she would not forgive those who have supported trans
00:20health care, including Radcliffe and his Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
00:25Celebs who cozied up to a movement intent on eroding women's hard-won rights and who use
00:30their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatized
00:35detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single-sex spaces. Radcliffe spoke with
00:40The Atlantic of Rowling's comments this week. It makes me really sad ultimately. I do look at
00:45the person that I met, the times that we met and the books that she wrote and the world that she
00:49created and all of that is to me so deeply empathic. Radcliffe previously wrote a statement supporting
00:54the trans community for the Trevor Project in 2020, saying in part to all the people who now feel
01:00that their experience of the books has been tarnished or diminished, I am deeply sorry for
01:04the pain these comments have caused you. I really hope that you don't entirely lose what was valuable
01:09in these stories to you. He gave more insight this week into writing that statement for the Trevor
01:13Project, noting, I wanted to try and help people that had been negatively affected by the comments
01:18and to say that if those are Joe's views, then they are not the views of everybody associated with
01:23the Potter franchise. He added, nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is
01:27without that person, but that doesn't mean that you owe the things you truly believe to someone else
01:31for your entire life. For more on this story, head to THR.com. And for the latest entertainment
