00:00Comedy movies are a wonderful thing, but that's not exactly breaking news now, is it?
00:05For two hours or so, carefree fans are transported away from the doom and gloom of modern society
00:11to a land where quirky awkwardness and glorious puns reign supreme.
00:16However, sometimes we can get a little too caught up in one particular quip
00:21or hilarious slapstick moment playing out in front of our very eyes on screen,
00:25meaning we tragically miss another side-splitting joke or unexpected cameo staring us right in the face.
00:32Multipurpose spacesuits, highly offensive street pavings, and even unfortunate real-life wipeouts
00:38have all wiggled their way into some of our favourite comedy flicks over the years,
00:42without the majority of the giggling folks in cinemas even noticing.
00:47I'm Gareth from WhatCulture.com and here are 10 hilarious hidden details in comedy movies.
00:5310. To Ring Cox Walk Hard, The Dewey Cox Story
00:57The tale of Dewey Cox is one filled with many twists and turns, ladies and gentlemen.
01:03Crafted as a parody of the biopic genre, Walk Hard, The Dewey Cox Story
01:07sees the titular character go from rejected brother killer by accident, of course,
01:12to rock and roll superstar.
01:14However, once Cox becomes an instant hit, he is faced with all of the temptations that come with fame.
01:20This includes relationships with other women while still being married to his childhood sweetheart, Edith.
01:26Cox eventually marries another woman called Darlene behind his other wife's back,
01:30before Edith walks in on the two about to consummate their new marriage.
01:34This eventually leads to Cox trying to win his first wife back at their home,
01:38but the singing sensation probably should have removed one vital piece of jewellery before doing so.
01:44When the pair make their way outside of the house, Cox lifts his left hand to reveal two wedding bands on his finger.
01:51This confirms that he is in fact married to two different people,
01:54and also a complete idiot for not removing one of them before seeing his first wife again.
01:59Come on, man.
02:009. Magatu's Fashion Sense Really Is Trash, Zoolander
02:05In a film dedicated to the world of supermodels and cutting-edge fashion,
02:09it takes something really special to stand out from the crowd.
02:12However, we're not here to talk about vibrant eye makeup or silver blazers stealing the show.
02:18Instead, it's about time we focused on Magatu's unwavering commitment to the trashy world of Derelict,
02:24in order to successfully keep his despicable plan to kill the Malaysian prime minister under wraps.
02:29Throughout the final stages of the flick, the inventor of the piano key necktie can be seen sporting a rather odd-looking neckpiece.
02:37On a second glance, it becomes apparent that this evil fashion genius has actually crafted a scarf and necktie combination out of a plain old trash bag.
02:46This is very much in keeping with the vision of Derelict.
02:50Magatu's dastardly scheme may not have worked out in the end,
02:53but you can't fault the bleach-blonde villain for doing all he could to make sure those in attendance believed in the wonders of Derelict.
03:008. French Streets Are Paved With Croissants
03:03Team America World Police
03:05Even if you're not the biggest fan of the puppet-heavy Team America World Police,
03:09you have got to admire the sheer detail which went into building the immersive and often hilarious environment
03:15the characters inhabit during the course of the picture.
03:18This can be seen most notably during the opening scene of the flick,
03:22when Team America defend Paris from a terrorist attack.
03:25Though many were more than likely distracted by the shocking accents and puppets being blown through windows,
03:31a few individuals did manage to spot a brilliant detail hidden right under our very noses
03:36throughout this explosive introduction to the World Police.
03:39If you pause the film as Carson is shot and killed post-proposal to Lisa,
03:44you'll spot that the floor his engagement ring dramatically bounces off is actually made of croissants.
03:50Yep, that's right.
03:51A poor puppet dies whilst lying on top of some pastry paving in Paris.
03:56Genius.
03:577. Dr. Evil's Spacesuit
03:59Austin Powers' The Spy Who Shagged Me
04:02Brilliant visual gags are on show during all three of the fantastic cinematic outings
04:07for the international man of mystery himself, Austin Powers.
04:11Yet one particularly superb clothing joke in The Spy Who Shagged Me
04:16has been seemingly overlooked by many.
04:18As Powers chases down Dr. Evil inside of his moonbase,
04:22the agent stops his nemesis in his tracks by shooting him in the leg.
04:27It's in this moment we get a closer look at the villain's outstanding spacesuit.
04:31On the front of the get-up we can see three knobs.
04:34One is labelled H2O, the other O2, and the last P2.
04:39Clearly this means the first two switches control water and oxygen input slash output.
04:44However, the last switch seems to imply it's the one the villain should turn when he wants to go P-P.
04:50Dr. Evil may not be Austin Powers' father, as he wrongly states during the scene,
04:55but he's very much equipped to answer the call of nature in outer space.
04:58Number 6, Keeping It PG, Galaxy Quest.
05:031999's Galaxy Quest is equipped with one of the most star-studded sci-fi casts ever assembled on screen.
05:09Yet it also boasts some noticeably botched redubbing work.
05:13During the scene where Brandon is guiding Jason Nesmith and Gwen DeMarco
05:17around the NSEA Protector spaceship,
05:20the two actors trying their best to live up to their on-screen characters' reputations
05:24are met with some brutal chompers.
05:27Clearly, Weaver can be seen reacting to the sight of the huge pieces of metal
05:31slamming together in front of them by saying,
05:33well, F that.
05:35This was fine back when the film was originally planned as a rated R feature.
05:38However, DreamWorks soon decided that they wanted to compete with the release of Stuart Little,
05:43so Galaxy Quest had to be cut in order to fit the PG bill.
05:46Weaver's line was eventually replaced by her screaming,
05:49well, screw that, instead.
05:51Unfortunately, with the actor being front and center during the shot,
05:55it's hilariously obvious what she initially blurted out on set.
05:59And Weaver has since stated that she purposefully made the altered line
06:02stand out as a protest against it being cut.
06:05Number 5.
06:06Egda Wright and Simon Pegg's mums make cameo appearances.
06:10Hot Fuzz.
06:11It's not often you get the chance to bring your mothers to work.
06:14But once director Egda Wright and actor Simon Pegg
06:17saw an opportunity to do so in 2007's Hot Fuzz, they did not hesitate.
06:22There's a couple of interesting cameo appearances
06:24throughout the second feature in the Cornetto trilogy.
06:27Peter Jackson famously played the man dressed as Father Christmas
06:30stabbing Pegg's Nicholas Angel through the hand,
06:33and Cate Blanchett pops up as his masked girlfriend early in the film.
06:36However, a pair of cameos, which weren't as well documented,
06:40came during the epic shootout finale,
06:42which took place on the fictitious streets of Sanford.
06:45Pegg and Wright's mothers are seen judging the Village of the Year contest
06:48as Sergeant Agil and Constable Danny Butterman
06:51speed off in pursuit of Simon Skinner and Danny's father,
06:55Inspector Frank Butterman.
06:57Also, the man standing in the middle of the proud mothers
06:59is none other than the director's high school drama teacher.
07:02What a reunion.
07:04Number 4.
07:05Paul Rudd wasn't ready to fight.
07:07Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgundy.
07:09A key thing an actor learns early in their career
07:11is to always be prepared.
07:13Try your very best to understand who your character is
07:16and how they feel about the world.
07:18Get your body in a position to convincingly portray them.
07:21Know your damn lines.
07:22Oh, and when your director shouts action,
07:24make sure you're ready to go.
07:27Unfortunately, Paul Rudd seemed to fall down,
07:29quite literally, on that last part,
07:31when the now legendary fight scene was being shot
07:33for 2004's Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgundy.
07:37As Will Ferrell's Burgundy calls for the chaos to begin,
07:40all of the various groups proceed to charge at each other
07:43with their assorted weapons of choice.
07:45However, if you look closely just as the gangs begin to sprint,
07:49you'll spot Rudd slipping straight onto his face
07:51as the battle gets underway.
07:53Director Adam McKay clearly felt the slip
07:55was too naturally hilarious to leave out of the final cut,
07:59but it's easy to miss with so much joyous madness on show
08:02throughout this star-studded news team melee.
08:04Number 3, Jim Carrey Cameo, Liar Liar.
08:08Only one comedy legend could get away
08:10with making a cameo appearance
08:12in a movie they're already starring in.
08:14During a scene in 1997's Liar Liar,
08:17which takes place after Jim Carrey's Fletcher Reed
08:20crashes a mobile stairway,
08:22a crowd of people all gather around
08:24the injured compulsive liar turned cursed truth teller.
08:27Yet amongst the flock of people,
08:29you may recognize another familiar face
08:31seemingly going about their work in the background.
08:33Fire Marshal Bill, a character played by Carrey
08:36on the popular sketch show In Living Color,
08:39is seen speaking to somebody on a walkie-talkie
08:41dressed in a firefighter uniform
08:43behind Audrey and her current boyfriend, Jerry.
08:46With the character having no clear lines
08:48and wearing dark shades throughout his surprise appearance,
08:51you'd be forgiven for completely overlooking
08:53this unexpected cameo.
08:55But once you catch Carrey's unmistakable grin
08:58popping up over the shoulder of Carrey Ellis,
09:00you won't be able to watch this 90s comedy classic
09:02without noticing the film's star
09:04making a priceless guest appearance in his own movie.
09:072. Toilet Roll Corpse
09:09Sausage Party
09:10With side-splitting, food-centric chaos
09:13going down in seemingly every shot of 2016's Sausage Party,
09:17it's near impossible to catch each and every
09:19shockingly hysterical joke on offer in just one sitting.
09:23One such hidden-in-plain-sight gag came during the scene
09:26where the druggie gains the ability to speak to his groceries
09:29after taking bath salts.
09:31In this moment, hot dogs, pizza slices, and soda cans alike
09:35all begin to lash out at the human
09:37who has been eating slash using them all his life.
09:40However, none of their grievances compare to that
09:43of the poor, emotionally scarred toilet roll
09:45who wanders into the scene and confesses,
09:48you don't want to effin' know,
09:50when asked what the human did to them.
09:51Yet this riotous moment meant that many fans missed another gruesome revelation in the shot.
09:57The sight of another loo roll hanging from the dispenser,
10:00seemingly dead due to being completely used up.
10:04One of the darkest jokes in this flick gets a whole lot darker
10:07once you spot the grim ending to a toilet roll's life.
10:111. Sean's DJ Past
10:13Sean of the Dead
10:14Simon Pegg and Egda Wright
10:16don't half love sneaking little hidden details into their work.
10:19But before they were planting their mothers in the middle of car chase scenes,
10:23they were adding tiny, hilarious world-building information
10:26into the background of 2004's Sean of the Dead.
10:30It's no secret that Sean and Ed are quite the fans
10:33of jamming to a bit of electro after a night out.
10:36And we see this in action at one point in the flick.
10:38Yeah, with most of us spending our time
10:40chuckling at the lad's brilliantly bad dance moves,
10:43one revealing secret hidden on Sean's wall
10:45completely passed us by.
10:47As the boys are being screamed at for playing their music too loud,
10:50a club poster with the name Sean Smiley Riley
10:53can be seen behind the two.
10:55This hints at Sean being a DJ in his younger years.
10:58And it's also the only time his last name
11:00is ever revealed in the runtime.
11:02It's not hard to see why Sean is such a fan of old school records
11:05if a young Smiley Riley used to rip up the decks on the weekend.
11:09There you go.
11:09There you go.
11:10There you go.
