00:00O Inaugural Doha Film Festival é oficialmente underway.

00:03Na próxima semana, 97 filmes de 62 países

00:06vão ser screenadas aqui,

00:07signando uma boldestação para a diversidade de cinema na região.

00:11A maioria dos filmes são de mulheres filmes,

00:14e 24 filmes foram apoiadas pela Doha Film Institute,

00:18descendo o seu compromisso de novos vozes.

00:21Majid Al-Ramehi é uma Qatari filmadora

00:24que também trabalha como film programador com o festival.

00:27So, myself, alongside the committee,

00:30we work together in terms of understanding,

00:34one, how the festival positions itself regionally,

00:37how the films that we select

00:39are both somehow reflecting a kind of moment

00:45in which the world is going through,

00:47as well as highlighting the most vibrant

00:50and urgent voices of cinema.

00:53There's also plenty of star power here,

00:55including award-winning directors Steven Soderbergh

00:57and Jim Sheridan,

00:58as well as actor Rami Youssef.

01:00Everyone who is attracted to us

01:03believes in what we do,

01:04and they've seen the identity

01:05and the genuine belief in cinema

01:08and the importance of culture and arts

01:11in people's lives,

01:12and how it can be a transformative tool

01:14for the societies.

01:15And these people who come and participate

01:17in the festival, they have the same mindset.

01:20The festival opens with the voice of Hindra Job,

01:22a true story of a five-year-old Palestinian girl

01:25trapped in a car under Israeli fire.

01:27It won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize in Venice

01:30and is now making its Middle East premiere.
