00:00This video circulated on social media this week, recorded inside a classroom at the New Vision Academy Charter School in Nashville.

00:08It shows a student wearing a hijab, hiding her face while someone takes off that religious headscarf, exposing her hair to the class.

00:17That video was posted live on Snapchat with the caption, Pretty Hair.

00:22A second video is then recorded under the caption, LOL, All That Hair Cover Up.

00:27A concerned viewer sent it to News 4 after seeing it on the teacher's social media account.

00:33That viewer was upset for the girl, who was seemingly being told her hair was too pretty to be covered.

00:39We showed it to Kassar Abdullah, who does Muslim diversity and sensitivity training in local schools.

00:45As a female and as a mother of three daughters, it should never be okay to rip off an article of clothing on a female, period.

00:53Abdullah says she's discouraged this happened in a school, but not shocked.

00:57I highly encourage those faculty members in that particular school to take a crash course on why is hijab so important to my students.

01:07We went to the school Tuesday and met with Principal Dr. Tim Malone.

01:10He didn't want to go on camera, but began investigating and suspended the teacher.

01:15Originally, he said the teacher denied making a video and said exposing the girl's hair was not done out of disrespect.

01:21As adults, it is our duty to model for them.

01:25It concerns me that I question where was the teacher in this incident, and what role did the teacher play.
