A swarm of 12–15 Israeli fighter jets has reportedly violated the airspace of several major Syrian cities, flying low over Deraa, Quneitra, Suwayda, western Hama, and along the borders with Turkey and Lebanon. The operation—confirmed by Israeli Channel 11—was described as a surveillance mission aimed at monitoring Iranian-backed militias, Turkish-supported groups, and remnants of the Assad regime.
Syrian state media condemned the move as an “unprovoked violation” of national airspace, releasing videos showing the jets flying at low altitudes and producing sonic booms. While no casualties or strikes occurred, the flyover is part of Israel’s ongoing aerial campaign in Syria, which has included more than 200 airstrikes since late 2024. Syria’s interim government labeled the flights as escalatory but has not responded militarily.

00:00A swarm of Israeli fighter jets flew over several southern Syrian cities,
00:22sparking outrage and concern from Syrian officials.
00:27Eyewitnesses and Syrian media reported that the jets flew low over key areas,
00:33including Deraa, Qunetra, Suweda, and Western Hamas,
00:38as well as along the borders with Turkey and Lebanon.
00:42The Israeli aircrafts were conducting what Israel described as a non-offensive reconnaissance mission,
00:49part of a broader intelligence-gathering effort.
00:52Israeli Channel 11 confirmed that the jets were engaged in filming and surveillance rather than offensive operations.
01:01Despite this, the flyovers have raised alarm as they follow a pattern of Israeli military activity in Syria
01:09that has intensified since the collapse of the Assad regime in 2024.
01:15Videos shared on social media showed the aircraft flying at low altitudes,
01:20leaving visible contrails and creating loud sonic booms as they passed overhead.
01:26One eyewitness video captured the initial wave of aircraft flying over southern Syria,
01:32while another video, filmed from Hamas, showed the plane soaring through the sky.
01:38Syrian state media outlet SANA echoed these reports,
01:43describing the flights as unprovoked violations of Syria's airspace.
01:49From Israel's perspective, the mission was a routine surveillance operation aimed at monitoring threats in the region,
01:57particularly from Iranian-backed militias and other hostile groups that have taken root in the wake of Assad's fall.
02:05While no strikes or direct military actions were reported as a result of the overflights,
02:11the Israeli operation was conducted against the backdrop of a broader military campaign
02:17that has seen Israel carry out over 200 airstrikes in Syria since December 2024.
02:24Syrian's interim government, led by President Ahmed al-Shara, condemned the airstrikes as escalatory violations of sovereignty
02:34and an act that could further inflame tensions in the region.
02:39However, despite these strong condemnations, Syria has yet to take direct military action in response,
02:47signaling a strategic restraint in the face of Israelis' air superiority.
02:53This development comes at a time of heightened instability in Syria and its neighboring regions.
02:59The Syrian-Turkish border has seen increased activity, with Turkey carrying out operations in northern Syria.
03:06Additionally, there have been growing tensions between Druze and Bedouin groups in southern Syria.
03:15Since December 2024, Israel has significantly ramped up its aerial operations over Syria.
03:22While Israel has consistently justified these strikes as preventative measures against hostile forces,
03:29these actions have violated the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel,
03:36which created a demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights.
