00:04The Hollywood Reporter's awards expert Scott Feinberg is sharing his forecast.
00:09Now that voting is closed, THR's awards expert is revealing his updated predictions one week
00:14ahead of the nominations being announced on July 17th. How did this forecast come to be? Think of
00:19Feinberg like a meteorologist. His aim is to correctly predict what will happen, not to advocate
00:24for what he thinks should happen. His picks are arrived at by sampling contenders, consulting
00:29voters, analyzing campaigns, and studying the results of past Emmy seasons. According to Feinberg,
00:34we are poised for yet another year in which the nominations will be dominated by only a handful
00:39of shows from only a handful of platforms, among them FX's drama Shogun and comedy The Bear,
00:45as well as Netflix's limited series Baby Reindeer and Ripley. However, he says there are some wild
00:50cards to consider, especially among dramas. In a year with few returning contenders, could rookies
00:55like Amazon's Fallout, Netflix's Three-Body Problem, or Showtime's The Curse exceed expectations
01:00and rack up high-nom tallies? We'll find out in just a few days. But first, let's take a look at
01:05the top categories. For best drama series, Feinberg predicts the frontrunners are Shogun, The Crown,
01:11The Gilded Age, Fallout, The Morning Show, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Curse, and Three-Body Problem.
01:18For best comedy series, the forecasted frontrunners are The Bear, Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Curb Your
01:24Enthusiasm, Only Murders in the Building, The Gentleman, Palm Royale, and Loot. And for best
01:30limited or anthology series, he predicts Baby Reindeer, Ripley, Fargo, True Detective Night
01:36Country, and Lessons in Chemistry are all frontrunners to be nominated. For Scott Feinberg's full forecast,
01:42including the shows that he thinks are major threats and possibilities for the categories just
01:46listed, head to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
