Robert Downey Jr. could make a return to the MCU as 'Iron Man!' Even though he recently won his first Oscar for 'Oppenheimer,' he's not looking to run from his Marvel past. In an interview with Esquire, the actor says he'd "happily" return as Tony Stark / Iron Man.

00:14Even though he recently won his first Oscar for Oppenheimer,

00:18he's not looking to run from his Marvel past.

00:20In an interview with Esquire, the actor says he'd happily return as Tony Stark slash Iron Man.

00:25It's too integral a part of my DNA.

00:27That role chose me.

00:28And look, I always say never ever bet against Kevin Feige.

00:32It's a losing bet.

00:33He's the house.

00:33He will always win.

00:35Downey's Iron Man met his fate in 2019's Avengers Endgame

00:38in what was arguably the most emotionally devastating moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

00:43So getting RDJ back could be trickier as it could risk cheapening the impact of Endgame.

00:48Marvel could always set a story in a different universe where anything is possible.

00:51There have also been rumors of an Avengers Secret Wars movie bringing back all the original Avengers,

00:56but nothing has materialized.

00:57Elsewhere in the profile, Downey's Marvel co-star Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that she stopped learning her lines for MCU films

01:04since Downey loved to improvise and come up with off-the-cuff dialogue at the last minute.

01:09So many of those famous lines were written 10 minutes before we said them.
