00:00You've made some frequent implications that David is too pure for this world.
00:04Oh, you're too pure for this.
00:06Hi, you said that right to my face.
00:07I know I did, and I meant it with my whole heart.
00:11Hey, buddy, eyes up here.
00:19Do you think that's the truth of the matter,
00:21or is it just that you're super edgy by comparison?
00:23I'm so edgy. The most edgy anyone's ever been, actually.
00:27I've redefined the edge in the Oxford English Dictionary.
00:30In this way, we are born for these characters, I suppose.
00:33We have a-
00:34Finish each other's sentences.
00:36Oh, sorry, I thought you were going to say finish each other's sentences.
00:37Yeah, definitely. We finish each other's sentences.
00:39What's next for the Justice Gang?
00:41And I think we should start with Anthony, since you're the newest member.
00:43Uh, wow. I mean, honestly, just happy to be here and continuing to fit in.
00:52And yeah, just, you know, thanks.
00:57I don't think what's next for the Justice Gang is up to us.
01:01It's about what's happening in the world that we need to solve.
01:04Yeah.
01:05So I would like to do more films with James. That's all.
01:09Whatever that means.
01:11I think we, in this film, I think we see the Justice Gang dealing with some,
01:14like, you know, gigantic physical threats.
01:17I would love to see them have to deal with some kind of mystery.
01:20You know, some detective work that I have to kind of see.
01:24Love a mystery.
01:25The streets.
01:25Yeah.
01:26Like a Knives Out kind of ensemble mystery.
01:29I want to start off by talking about Beck like he's not here for a second.
01:32Absolutely.
01:33I feel like that's comfortable.
01:34I'm good.
01:35That's it.
01:36A recent report appeared online,
01:39implying that Beck Bennett was the most well-liked person in 30 Rock.
01:43I'm wondering if that energy transferred to set or if that whole report was a bunch of bullshit.
01:49Yeah, no, it did really transfer to set.
01:51Everybody really loved me and yeah,
01:53they said incredible things about me the whole time.
01:57There we go.
01:57Beck is so well-liked that our group chat,
02:01the Superman group chat, what is the full name of it?
02:04It's Superman Gang dot dot dot, even Beck.
02:06Even Beck.
02:07That's it, that's it.
02:08Which of course is a testament to how much we all love him and how much he means to all of us.
02:12That's very sweet.
02:13Most offensive guy in the world.
02:15I just love to be included.
02:17I just love that I'm there.
02:19When you're at the bottom of the pecking order,
02:20it secretly means that everyone just adores you.
02:22I, yeah.
02:23That's right.
02:23And that's where I like to be.
02:24Yeah.
02:27Keep expectations low.
02:28You're crushing it.
02:29Yeah.
02:30I quite liked the like DC Studios intro being so simple and unassuming.
02:37You know what I mean?
02:38Was that intentional?
02:39Was there a lot of thought that went into that?
02:40And was anyone pushing for this big animated Marvel-esque kind of thing?
02:43Peter Safran is too cheap to push for a big animated Marvel-esque thing.
02:48And I remember we talked to one of our marketing guys at the beginning and we're saying we want
02:53a new intro and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
02:55And he said, okay, well, it's going to cost about $2 million and this and that.
02:58I'm like, we're not going to spend $2 million on that.
03:01I got a, I got a CGI dog I want to make.
03:04So, uh, but I like that.
03:06I do like the simplicity and elegance of it.
03:08I did find sometimes, um, with other things I've had to deal with, it just,
03:14with both at DC and Marvel, they were both so long that it, it almost became too much a part
03:20of the movie itself as opposed to just being the stamp on it.
03:23And sometimes it worked really well, but sometimes it didn't, it seemed to be too unwieldy.
03:28Do you have, uh, like in your inner monologue, is there a voice for crypto?
03:31What does, what does crypto sound like?
03:33I think my dog Ira's, uh, voice sort of has become my voice for most dogs,
03:38unless it's entirely inappropriate.
03:39So I bet if I were to think about crypto's voice.
03:43What's Ira's voice?
03:45Um, hey guys, I'm just, uh, here to hang out and, uh, do some, help out a little bit,
03:50to give some notes.
03:51James asked me just to give some notes about, you know,
03:54the number of squirrels and treats in this movie is a little bit low, so.
03:57He's like vaguely Swedish, but also giving the Californians.
04:00We're not sure where he's from, but he definitely was raised in Philadelphia.
04:03We're, we're going to cast our Justice League, all right?
04:06First round pick for your Justice League.
04:09Who are we going with?
04:10Martian Manhunter.
04:11Hey!
04:12I'm going to, I'm going to put my vote in for Batman.
04:14I cannot wait to see who, what.
04:17I can't, I want to see what it's like.
04:19I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I love Batman.
04:22What would your dynamic be like with Batman?
04:24Yeah.
04:24Uh, Batman actually, in the comics, punches, knocks Guy out.
04:28That sounds.
04:29One punch to the face.
04:29That sounds right.
04:30I would love to play that scene.
04:31That's good.
04:32Uh, plastic man.
04:34Oh, that's a good one.
04:34Oh, that's a good one.
04:35That's a deep cut.
04:36That's good.
04:37Well, that's, uh, elemental cut.
04:40I think I need another woman.
04:41That's fair.
04:41Any more women on there?
04:43One woman?
04:43I would love for Wonder Woman to be here.
04:46I feel like Hawkgirl and Raven would get along really well.
04:49Um, just similar vibes, similar goth, punk vibes.
04:52Dead Man, I want to see Dead Man too.
04:54She's got a great outfit.
04:55Great outfit.
04:55Metamorphone Dead Man.
04:56Just a couple pasty, white, bald heads.
05:01We know that everyone loves Jimmy Olsen, you know, especially the ladies.
05:04But what's Jimmy's dream girl?
05:07I think Jimmy's dream girl we were talking about yesterday might be on the other end of the,
05:12the row over here.
05:13I think it might be, it might be, right?
05:16When were you talking about that?
05:18Yesterday, isn't that in the, in the comics, Jimmy is, uh, might have somewhat of a workplace
05:24crush on Kat?
05:26He likes cougars.
05:27He might like older women.
05:28Yes.
05:30Calm down, Steve.
05:32Steve's not too happy about that.
05:34Everybody's leaving Steve behind.
05:36She's not feeling too good about that.
05:39So there's a love triangle going on here.
05:40There could be.
05:42We keep pitching that.
05:43We keep getting shut down.
05:44Every day we're calling James.
05:45We're like, I think you guys, I think there's something here.
05:47I think we, we, we all, all these big ideas.
05:50Rumpel has been thrown around.
05:54We're going to keep pushing it.
05:55And I love it because it's all good copy.
05:57Are you saying there's already talks about a sequel?
05:59I am actually saying that.
06:02Yes, there is a sequel in the works, uh, called Kat and Steve.
06:07Not allowed to say much more about it, but it's really, it's a, it's a, it's a,
06:12R-rated, it's like, like really intense.
06:15I cleaned your boots.
06:16I'll go get them for you.
06:25At what point did you know that you were born to play Lois Lane?
06:29I, I still share a healthy amount of insecurity about this.
06:33We haven't seen the movie.
06:34We're waiting.
06:35I mean, we're waiting to see it with everyone at the world premiere here in LA on the 7th.
06:40We're all, David, Nick, and I are all going to hold hands and experience it together.
06:44No, Nick's already seen the movie.
06:45Um, I, I, it's, I'm a little afraid when people say that.
06:49Answer the question, Rachel.
06:50When did you know for a fact that you were born to play this role?
06:53I don't know.
06:54I still don't know.
06:56But I, but we appreciate people asking questions like that and that you liked it.
07:00Yeah, it's great if people get that.
07:01And that you believed it.
07:01Yeah, if people get that feeling about, about us and these characters, that's, that's amazing.
07:05Yeah.
07:06I thought that, uh, uh, Mr. Terrific's, uh, epic fight sequence, it felt Yondu-esque.
07:11Was that intentional?
07:12I think he is Yondu-esque.
07:14You know, I always really liked Yondu, Yondu super, you're the first person to bring it up,
07:17but it's totally true.
07:18I always liked Yondu's superpower that he was able to use this thing to, you know, it's,
07:23it's so different.
07:24It says he has this other object, but you can whistle and, and with, um, with Mr. Terrific,
07:28he's able to use the T-spheres through a series of hand signals and get them to do all
07:33these different cool things.
07:35Nathan, you've worked with James a lot.
07:36This is true.
07:37This whole cast is funny as hell, dude.
07:40Why do you think that he casts that way?
07:42James has the ability to, uh, first of all, he wants to work with people that he wants to hang
07:46out with for months at a time.
07:48If you're going to be around, he wants to make sure you're, you're going to be cool.
07:52So he has a process by which he actually, he vets people.
07:56He doesn't want to hire a jerk.
07:58And on top of that, if you're going to be good at comedy, you have to be able to be honest and sincere.
08:04And that's what actually makes dramatic acting so good as well.
08:07So I think you can be a great dramatic actor and not very good comedically,
08:12because comedic comedy takes timing.
08:14Comedy takes timing.
08:17It's like we're not only friends.
08:23We're actually super friends.
08:25Thank you, guys.
08:30Catching on.
08:33It's catching on.
08:34Are you okay?
08:34It's catching on like the plague.
08:36They didn't seem to enjoy that joke.
08:39No, they hate it.
08:41I don't.
08:43No, you, you endorse.
08:45I endorse.
08:47I like to just enable.
08:48I like to just enable.
08:49You enable.
08:50Because he's so funny.
08:51Yeah.
08:52Yeah.
08:53And, uh, magnetic and just like charming.
08:58And his comedic timing is so on.
09:01Yeah.
09:01That he, I think he likes that banter between his, his actors and his friends.
09:07It's just his personality.
09:09Yeah.
09:09He's really funny.
09:10And he also loves to laugh.
09:11Loves.
09:12He loves to give it up.
09:13He's the greatest laugh.
09:14And fill a room with like just, yeah, he's just, and he, he kind of, he's, he's open to,
09:19to everybody on set, really.
09:21He's like, he just loves, you know, that to be, to enter, to be entertained and to entertain.
09:28And he loves to get as much out of, you know, the scenes as possible, I think.
09:32You have great comedic timing.
09:34Oh, thank you.
09:35You are very funny, by the way.
09:38That's something that we all say about you.
09:40So, yeah, I'm going to answer for her, but you, you, you answer as well, please.
09:45Say more.
09:45Say more.
09:47I'm like blushing.
09:48She's out of words.
09:51What was the question again?
09:53Do you have a favorite ridiculous line that you have to deliver?
09:55She just had so many great.
09:57Mom, you did so good.
09:58That was, that was, yeah.
09:59That was so good.
10:01That was like, Ultraman, you did so good.
10:03And that, that was like, I remember saying that, the, and the table read, and everyone laughed.
10:09And I'm like, yes.
10:11So, yeah.
10:12You're such a natural, man.
10:13Oh, thank you.
10:15Engineer has a different kind of energy.
10:17Oh, God, yes.
10:18She's not funny at all.
10:19I'm sure you're going to get this a lot today, but in the comics, she is often a hero, you know?
10:23She is.
10:24She is.
10:25So, uh, was that something...
10:28It's just who she is in this, in, in, in the story.
10:31She just happens to be teaming up with the wrong person, but for the right reasons.
10:37She does want to change the world and make it better.
10:39She's deeply affected by the path the world has taken, has been hurt so much as a child.
10:44Her parents, you know, were killed in a violent accident, and, and she needs to change.
10:48So, she sees and lacks the tool to make that happen.
10:52And at the beginning, she does believe in him.
10:54He has, you know, very good reasons to do what he does.
10:57And she starts to, to, to realize he's not, he's not the best person to do that and to team up with.
11:04But she's too deep into it now and he came back out.
11:08This might be the most evil villain I've seen in a superhero movie ever.
11:13I'll be honest, I don't think he's, I don't think he's that bad in comparison.
11:16I mean, I think he has a point of view.
11:19I mean, I think, for instance, I think, uh, Chuck Woody's character, the High Evolutionary in
11:24Guardians 3, he's, he's way worse than, than, um, he's not really, but I think that Lex is,
11:31he's really bad in sort of a real way.
11:35He is, you know, the boss that you have that on the one hand is so charming and, you know,
11:40he's giving the guys back rubs and he's all, you know, he's total dude bro.
11:44And then just switches on a dime when he gets upset and throws pencils at you and screams.
11:50And he's just that sort of basic, like, you know, egomaniacal, narcissistic, like, uh, you know,
11:58guy that, that I can believe in.
12:00But I understand his point of view towards Superman.
12:03I mean, he, he was the greatest man in the world.
12:07He was the smartest person in the world. Everybody thought he was the greatest,
12:11even though there were other metahumans in the world, he was the greatest guy in the world.
12:14And then all of a sudden this guy comes along in this silly costume and this charming grin
12:18and this great jaw and he's second best and he's forgotten and he hates it.
12:23And so he's sort of taken his envy and rationalized that he's protecting everyone with this.
12:28He's, uh, saving humanity.
12:30Um, so it, you know, I, I, I, I, I get him. I get Lex, I understand.
12:36Are we seeing him up against some legitimate baddies?
12:39Are we about to realize like, well, maybe he's not that bad.
12:41I mean, I think we're going to see more of Lex.
12:44That's for sure.
13:06I think we're going to see more of Lex.
13:16We'll see you next time.
13:17Bye.
13:18Bye.
13:20Bye.
13:21Bye.
13:22Bye.
13:24Bye.
13:26Bye.
13:28Bye.
13:30Bye.
13:32Bye.
13:34Bye.
