00:00The Bureau of Customs raises 38.2 million pesos from the public auction of three luxury cars
00:07seized from contractors Sara and Curly Diskaya. The vehicles were sold in a public bidding held
00:11at the South Harbor of Manila's Port area. A Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG was sold for 15.6 million
00:19pesos from its floor price of 14.1 million pesos, while the G500 went for 15.5 million pesos,
00:26almost double its starting bid. Both vehicles were purchased by a Caloocan-based company called
00:32Simplex Industrial Corporation. Meanwhile, a Lincoln Navigator was sold to Le Centrel Jewelries for
00:38over 7 million pesos. The company has a track record of participating in public auctions.
00:44Four other vehicles failed to attract any buyers. Proceeds from the auction will be remitted to the
00:49National Treasury.
00:50These seven luxury vehicles were purchased with flood control money. By bringing them to auction,
01:00the BOC is recovering the duties and taxes that should have gone to public coffers
01:07and to the Filipino people. This is justice in practice.
