00:00The World Health Organization says it has vaccinated more than 10,000 children in Gaza this month,
00:06taking advantage of the fragile ceasefire in the enclave.
00:10But that number is still far short of its target to inoculate 40,000 children
00:15in the first phase of the campaign, which ends this Saturday.
00:21WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said
00:25phase two and three of the campaign are planned for December and January.
00:28The campaign is designed to protect children against measles, mumps, rubella and other preventable diseases.
00:36In a post on Exxon Thursday, Tedros said the Gaza ceasefire is vital
00:40because it allows WHO partners to strengthen the essential health services
00:44and support efforts to rebuild Gaza's badly damaged health system.
00:48But his comments came just hours after Israel carried out one of the deadliest airstrikes in Gaza
00:53since the October 10 ceasefire, killing more than two dozen people.
