Vivek Razdan 1 for 37 in 8 Overs vs Pakistan Javed Miandad 30 off 52 Balls 2 Fours vs India 4th ODI at Lahore, Dec 22 1989 (CT)
Transcript
00:00Vivek Rajdan's international career was short enough to fit into a highlights reel,
00:05yet dramatic enough to be remembered decades later. The young Delhi Pacer burst onto the
00:11scene in 1989-19, playing just two test matches and three ODIs. But his arrival had all the
00:18markings of a cricketing fairy tale, a product of the MRF Pace Foundation. Vivek Rajdan was only
00:2620 when he was fast-tracked into India's squad for the 1989 tour of Pakistan, with only two first-class
00:33games behind him, one each in the Dalib Trophy and Irani Trophy. His selection raised eyebrows but
00:40the raw pace and promise were impossible to ignore. In the fourth ODI at Wahar on December 22,
00:46Rajdan bowled a tidy spell of 1 for 37 in eight overs. He even offered a flash of his real talent
00:53when Imran Khan went after him, looking to clear the rope, only to misjudge Rajdan's tight line
01:00and testing length. On a seam-friendly surface, the young Pacer bored with impressive control and
01:05confidence. So let's enjoy this rare clip that shows Rajdan operating with rhythm and discipline.
01:11Rajdan, which is a wonderful sign in any young cricketer. So it's going to be Rajdan,
01:19and that's Shweb. One for no wicket in the first over, the second over coming up,
01:25and the sun coming out, and what a wonderful sight it is.
01:38Shidu.
01:43Well bowled, very well bowled.
01:44And there's an appeal for, caught behind by Moray, but Moray is quite a champion at this sort of thing.
01:55See, it was a considerable distance between the edge and the ball. It passed him, but
02:00Kiran Moray, I think, uh...
02:09Here, see, this time Salim Alak has turned the back foot on the back foot and see the
02:14wheeler, he's running away, but he's on the ball and he's on the head straight ahead and
02:19he's on the right side and he's on the right side and has been a good judge catched, Shasrini.
02:23In the end, he has movement and after that, the spinners have a great advantage.
02:30White ball.
02:46This match was a good match.
02:49He tried to feel the ball.
02:51The ball was far away from him.
02:53And the other match was created by Jibarajan.
03:01And to be the best.
03:06Vharcharajan has run the ball into the middle,
03:09and at the same place, the ball was guided by him.
03:14Great ball.
03:16The ball was in the back point position.

06:57Vivek Rajdan's test debut at Faisal Abbas slipped quietly under the radar, but what followed in Sialkut was pure theatre.
07:04Vivek Rajdan found sharp movement off the pitch, bending the ball just enough to troubles Pakistan's batting order and securing a memorable 5-for-79.
07:13In doing so, he handed India a 74-run first-inning lead, announcing himself with a spell full of heart and hustle.
07:20But just as quickly as he rose, Rajdan drifted out of the frame.
07:25His career a reminder of how fleeting fast-balling glory can be.

07:46His best test bowling performance came in a single innings when he claimed a five wicket haul of 5.79.
