Stokes aiming to create 'history' ahead of first Ashes Test

Ben Stokes said he's desperate to become an Ashes-winning captain, on the eve of the first Test in Perth.

00:18over the history of Ash as a series in Australia isn't the best.

00:22But we've got an opportunity here over the next two and a half months to write our own history.

00:29We've obviously come here with the goal and that goal is to get on that plane mid-January,

00:34returning to England, being Ash's winners.

00:37But we know it's going to be very, very tough, it's going to be hard

00:40because beating Australia in Australia is not an easy thing.

00:44I understand what this series means in my journey as England captain.

00:50It's certainly the biggest series that I will lead this side in.

00:55You know, it's been three and a half years of a lot of time and effort put into this role.

01:00Something I've thoroughly enjoyed.

01:03Wake up every morning loving what I do because it's the greatest honour in English cricket to lead this team out.

01:11But yeah, by no means does that not mean that I'm desperate to be an Ash's winning captain.
