00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development, or DSWD, officially launched the Philippine Community Resilience Project, or PCRP, in Cebu City.
00:08This project is a new component under the agency's Kapit Bisig Laban Sakahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services, or Kalahi CIDSS Program,
00:19which aims to boost the capacity of small communities in resilience planning and resilient investments to mitigate disaster risks and accelerate recovery.
00:27Under the program, qualified local government units can receive substantial funding for their chosen projects,
00:3450 million pesos for first- to third-class municipalities, and 70 million pesos for fourth- and fifth-class municipalities.
00:41The project is designed with an open menu, where communities, especially those with high-poverty incidents, environmental hazards, and indigenous people's communities,
00:51will identify their own needs, which could include water systems, daycare centers, or food security facilities.
00:58The initiative, which is supported by the World Bank, is expected to benefit approximately 4 million households, or 18 million people.
