00:00Today on Rappler
00:06First Lady Lisa Marcos and Senator Aimee Marcos throw shade at each other on social media.
00:18Former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin refutes the palace's statement, saying he did not resign.
00:24The Philippine government is urged to support the roadmap to move away from fossil fuels.
00:30The U.N. Security Council adopts U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza.
00:35And Rappler's Glenda Gloria is named Journalist of the Year at Esquire Philippines' Man at His Best 2025.
00:44First Lady Lisa Marcos and Senator Aimee Marcos share and debunk fake code cards on social media that contain attacks against each other.
00:52This after Aimee accused her younger brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the first family of being drug addicts.
00:59At 1.14am on Wednesday, November 19, the first lady posted a supposedly fake code card that depicted her insulting Aimee.
01:07She also wrote a snarky caption saying, quote,
01:10A few hours later, Aimee followed with her own post seemingly in response to the first lady's.
01:19The code card showed her insulting the first lady's physical appearance and alleged drug use.
01:24In the caption, Aimee simply wrote,
01:26I did not post this, thanks.
01:28Both cards interestingly have the same look, with the same layout, fonts, and colors.
01:33Together, the two posts have been shared more than 20,000 times across Facebook.
01:38Former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin challenges the palace's statement that he resigned from his post out of Delicadeza.
01:46He says Wednesday, November 19, I did not file any resignation.
01:51It's nice to hear out of Delicadeza, but it's not true.
01:54I did not resign.
01:56Malacanang announced Monday Marcos accepted Bersamin's courtesy resignation
02:00after his and Budget Secretary Amina Pangandaman's departments were mentioned in allegations related to the flood control scandal.
02:07But Bersamin says he only submitted a letter to the president, signed late Tuesday afternoon, November 18,
02:13saying he bows to the prerogative of the president.
02:16Bersamin adds,
02:17A close friend called him before noon of Monday to inform him that he has to exit as executive secretary.
02:23He said he was fine with this since he served at the pleasure of the president.
02:26He adds, Wednesday, the palace announcement portrays him as running away.
02:31Bersamin also addresses allegations against him.
02:34He vehemently denies that he told former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan that,
02:39We will take care of it, regarding the supposed facilitation of dirty money.
02:43The former Chief Justice also stresses,
02:45Those who want to implicate him in the flood control mess should file a case in court so he could address the allegations squarely.
02:51A Manila-based think tank says the Philippine government should be part of the global initiative establishing a transition away from fossil fuels roadmap.
03:00More than 18 nations have come together calling for this roadmap.
03:04It will lay out how the world will move away from fossil fuels and keep global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius,
03:10as agreed upon by parties a decade ago in the Paris Agreement.
03:13Avril de Torres, Deputy Executive Director of Center for Energy, Ecology and Development, says,
03:19As part of one of the most climate-vulnerable regions in the world and countries in the world,
03:24we should be part of this global effort to make the roadmap concrete on how do we transition away from fossil fuels.
03:30So far, supporters of the roadmap are a mix of developing and developed nations,
03:34including Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark and the alliance of small island states.
03:39The roadmap will build on the agreement made at the end of COP28 in Dubai,
03:43which is to transition away from fossil fuels and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.
03:52The UN Security Council adopts a resolution endorsing U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza
03:58and authorizing an international stabilization force for the demilitarization of the Palestinian enclave.
04:04Israel and Hamas agreed last month to a ceasefire in the hostage-release deal
04:08as part of the first phase of Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza.
04:11But the UN resolution is seen as vital to legitimizing a transitional governance body.
04:16The resolution says member states can take part in the Trump-chaired Board of Peace
04:20that would oversee the reconstruction and economic recovery of Gaza.
04:24Hamas reiterates it will not disarm and argues that its fight against Israel is legitimate resistance,
04:30potentially pitting the militant group against the international force authorized by the resolution.
04:35The resolution has proven controversial in Israel
04:38because it references a future possibility of statehood for Palestinians.

05:42It also mandates you to speak truth to power.
05:45You also have the mandate of the public to actually demolish that power if it does wrong.
05:50And that's today's wrap.
