00:00What Tom Cruise does, I mean, he's at a different level.

00:06The preparation that, you know, Tom told me, he's like, just be prepared for war.

00:11He's like, don't worry about the aesthetic, just worry about being able to take all the hits

00:15and really training for the stunts that you're going to be doing

00:19and just understanding what to put your body through so that you can live to fight another day.

00:26Just because you're doing an action movie doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

00:31Just because you know you're going to get hit by something doesn't mean you're not going to get hit by something.

00:35It just means you know it's coming.

00:36Maybe if you're falling off of something, they try to insulate the ground a little bit, you know, of that impact.

00:42But if you're doing it 12, 13 times in a row, the next morning you're waking up and you're hurting.

00:48I had to just make sure I was bulletproof so that I could kind of absorb all the punishment

00:53and keep moving on to the next day.

00:55They understand why you look so angry in that.

01:00When I was doing Top Gun Maverick, there's a beach football scene.

01:05And I remember Tom taking off down the beach one time.

01:08And, you know, everybody hears about Tom running and they're like, okay, like, you know,

01:12he's the best runner on camera and all these things.

01:14And then you see it in real life, you're like, that is the fastest.

01:17He is so fast.

01:19For me, part of this job that I really, really love is pushing limits.

01:23I do love, like, trying to do things that scare me, trying to push limits, you know.

01:27What can I do here on set to make sure we justify this movie for an audience?

01:33Like, I definitely think about that.

01:35What Tom Cruise does, I mean, he's at a different level.

01:39He's in his own category.

01:41I don't think there's ever been a person on the planet that has done more to make an audience, you know, feel.
