41:28over the bucks that's their seventh straight win over milwaukee welcome back into the studio for nba
41:33showtime maria taylor brian scalabrini uh we got vince carter mellow we're on the block posting up
41:38we might have a post game interview for you we'll see what happens uh but but let's just start with
41:43what we saw from donovan mitchell 25 points in the first half finished with 35 and it it looks
41:48easy to me but we all know it's not what are you seeing from him on the court right now i just think
41:53donovan is is hitting that stride right now and i think he's carrying cleveland uh cleveland has
41:59figured out is figuring out what their fit is and they they look like they're here to to make some
42:04noise and donovan is leading that i know garland is out but donovan is really doing things uh that
42:10we haven't seen him do before as far as getting it in certain ways playing off the ball he's in the
42:15pick and roll uh he's sharing the ball he's he's part he's being a part of the offense he's allowing
42:21evan mobley to assert himself offensively and then he's taking um what he can take from there then you
42:27see him in one-on-one situations where he's they can't really stop him in those situations i just love
42:32the donovan mitchell that i'm seeing right now the way that he's expanding his game elevating his game
42:38and really trusting himself but as to trust his other teammates that's out there as well
42:42janice got off to a great start donovan mitchell started to answer he did it with some offense
42:48scoring three-point shooting then he got other people involved as soon as milwaukee and give give
42:52credit to milwaukee for playing great yeah they got close donovan mitchell bucket bucket transition three
42:58go back to moving the ball getting merrill going so absolutely he's got a great feel for winning
43:03basketball right now and that's what i said superstar a superstar player understand the importance of
43:07getting his guys going early so he can do what he needs to do in the fourth quarter and that's what
43:11happened sarah merrill got got to going that that paint opened up and he was able to get in there
43:16whenever he chose yeah merrill had 20.17 of them coming in the second half and you heard him telling
43:21robbie humley hit his finger on like the first play didn't even know if he'd be able to
43:24it was broke thought it was broken no it's not broke bro you got it you got it yeah uh meanwhile
43:30for milwaukee obviously janice goes out during the first half only plays 13 minutes in this
43:34so for the bucks to still kind of keep it rolling i mean there is some positives to take
43:39out of this one they bombed threes but at the end when it got close in the fourth quarter they need a
43:43big bucket they needed janice out there last four minutes of the game they were just like not good
43:47enough mitchell made the big plays bucks didn't yeah milwaukee was just starting to kind of find their
43:53fit and and find their rhythm and this just puts them you know take them back a couple steps
43:58now they have opportunities similar to atlanta with trey being out you have opportunities for
44:02other guys to step in and figure out what is your what's going to be your identity while while janice is
44:07out is that collective effort they got 31 points from the bench obviously it's not enough because
44:11you're playing against a very good cleveland cavaliers team but they're going to need this
44:15guys to just step up now janice probably going to be out a little bit who steps up we call for it we
44:21asked for kuz we asked for miles turner miles turner had a better second half can he continue
44:26to do this to uplift this milwaukee bucks team yeah and right now for janice it's listed as a
44:30groin strain so we'll see how long that sidelines him ryan rollins did end up with 24 points uh we
44:35were wondering if he was going to kind of kick it into gear and kuzma he ended with 10 he had 10
44:40during the first half um so didn't really turn it on in the second he gonna get it right my boy gonna get
44:45it right well tell me when my boy gonna get it right now was the opportunity for him to get it
44:50right i mean you there's no excuses now johannes has the ball or ryan has the ball or miles turner
44:56touching the ball no you have to assert yourself offensively and and not even offensively just a
45:01part of this team because right now it's a perfect opportunity for cool to just step up and and as as
45:07showing everybody that he can be that other piece that other important piece that milwaukee needs
45:13we saw the answers obviously that cleveland was able to have throughout this one and i said it
45:17coming on but they won seven straight against the bucks now we've been here before with cleveland one
45:23thing they can do is play in the regular season what are the things the seeds you have to sow
45:27during this time that are going to help you in the post i mean a lot of it had to do with their
45:31injuries and their rebounding they're they've cleaned up their rebounding they look like a tougher
45:35team donovan mitchell's making bigger plays right now they're only going to get better when garland
45:39comes back and max struce comes back so i think they're kind of flying under the radar but if you
45:44watch cleveland you expect what those guys are going to be when they come back no team would want to play
45:49that team in the playoffs because they have experience and they have guys that can get buckets i also
45:53think is donovan mitchell empowering the his others his other guys because i think that's important in
45:58playoff series when they start to key in on taking things away from donovan mitchell he has to trust
46:03that he can get off the ball and allow other guys to make shots when he does that that will open up
46:08things second half because they're going to double team i'm double team if he's playing like that i'm
46:12double teaming him and make him hey show me you can get off the ball and let somebody else make shots
46:17when they do that they're a tougher team to be yeah i love to see evan playing at the elbow too like
46:21that's a new wrinkle that's that i've been seeing part of the offense him playing through that elbow
46:26being able to ice on that elbow take advantage of mismatches and switches with with donovan out there
46:31so you know people should pay attention to that small little wrinkle uh that i've been paying attention to
46:37seeing um mobily elevate his game and adding something else to his game well the cavaliers
46:41y'all got us paying attention uh with that win it was a fun one for us to watch we've got highlights
46:45coming around from the association a couple games that are still in progress yes not half bad right

47:52the top scorers in the league but it's it's you know being efficient with it you know not having to
47:56take a a 30 shot so like and being efficient in your minutes and also still finding ways to get your
48:01teammates involved i wish i was rebound a little bit more so i'm trying to make a point of that but
48:05i think for me that i think as a as a whole you know i think i'm playing well but my teammates
48:09you're making it easy for me you know it allowed me to kind of be the guy to go out there and make
48:12plays and um they're making great plays themselves which makes it easier for me yeah yeah yeah they're
48:17making you they're making it easier for you but let's talk about you empowering them making it easier
48:22for for your teammates because what you're doing is you're getting guys involved and then picking your
48:27spots and i said i love seeing star players get guys involved early to make it easier for them
48:32in the second half late in games you're doing that take me through that how how have you been able to
48:37do that and elevate your teammates well i think it starts with you know just having conversations right
48:42like figuring guys out this is our fourth year together so for most of the core i understand you
48:47know who guys are but even you know we got some young guys like i made sure we we went to louisville
48:52together they came to my hometown together we worked out just trying to because i understood that they were
48:56going to be crucial uh thanks max um they're going to be crucial tell max hurry up yeah man hey max we
49:03love you back mellow said hurry up mellow said hurry up uh but understand that they're going to play a
49:10big role in what we do and they've been phenomenal i want to give a big shout out to our young young guys
49:15naquan uh craig porter tyrese proctor they've been unbelievable um and i think for for me just having
49:21building those relationships and then getting on the court and just doing everything we've been working on and
49:24jaylen tyson too got to give him a big time big time because they've been they've been phenomenal
49:28naquan's helped us we've been in a little bit of of mud past few games and his energy has lifted us
49:33to a whole different level i want to talk about tonight's game your performance tonight it came
49:37a point in time in that fourth quarter where you turned the switch on what did you see that allowed
49:43you that made you want to go out there and turn that switch on at that moment um it was a six-point
49:47game i believe and that's when you know you run into a situation where a team can get confident they
49:51they think they can steal one obviously yannis is is out so now you don't really know who's going to
49:55go up you know if it's going to be rollins trent turner green like right you don't know who it's
49:59going to be so for us um and myself just saying okay figuring it out kind of kind of being patient
50:05with it and then also when getting the rebound and pushing and i think the best time to push the ball in
50:09transition is in the fourth quarter when people think it to slow it down that's why you get out there
50:12get to the free throw line uh kind of set the tone and then defense collapse and then you make the right
50:17plays that's when the popcorn get popping yeah donovan one more for me uh just how have you
50:22liked the the evolution of evan mobley and how much you feel like you're going to need him to continue
50:26to improve big time uh and i think i tell people all the time like we we he's going to be that guy
50:33right but i think understanding that progress is not linear i think we think it's a straight shot right
50:37it's tough to to come in he did he had a phenomenal year last year and he's been great this year but i think
50:43for him and understand it's just going to be different and obviously we got some guys out but
50:46he's he's picking his spots he's being aggressive and sometimes i'm telling he'd be even more aggressive
50:50tonight he had nine shots i need 10 12 15 right but understanding that this is the development
50:57process and i'd rather go through these things now and then when we get dg and max backs we rolling
51:01right like understanding that hey this is progress is not linear man it's it's it's easy to say all
51:06right it's a straight shot it's not like that and y'all know that you know i think for for us and him
51:09he's understanding that hey he's getting better and better and the biggest thing is defensively he
51:13hasn't lost a step so um that's that's that's huge and he's he's he's gonna be great absolutely
51:18man we appreciate you donovan yeah one of the best players and leaders in the game don we try to go
