00:00Hello, I am Irfan, you are watching my channel Global Insights where you know world latest news and breaking news.
00:07Today headlines are, refugees who have established lives with homes and families in the UK, including Ukrainians,
00:15will still face having to return if their home countries become safe, the Home Secretary has said.
00:20Shabana Mahmood said the asylum system was out of control and putting huge pressure on communities,
00:26as she announced plans to end the permanent status of refugees, who would need to reapply to remain in Britain every two and a half years.
00:34Mahmood will also announce on Monday that those granted asylum could be returned to their home countries when they are considered safe,
00:41a policy modeled on Denmark's controversial system.
00:44At the moment, refugees are granted protection for a period of five years.
00:49After that, they are able to apply for indefinite leave to remain, which paves the way for them to become British citizens.

01:35It is dividing communities.
01:37People can see a lot of pressure in their communities as well as a broken system where people can get away with breaking the rules and abusing the system.
01:46Speaking to the BBC on Sunday, Mahmood said there would be different approaches depending on the circumstances.
01:52What the new reforms will do is change that generations-old assumption that sanctuary provided to refugees can very quickly lead to permanent settlement and all of the rights that go alongside that.
02:03She said Ukrainians had come to the UK under a different system, but it is still a temporary arrangement.
02:09They're not, in fact, considered refugees in the normal run of things.
02:14It is a bespoke scheme for Ukrainians, which I'm very proud that this country did, and we will always fulfill our obligations under that scheme.
02:22Mahmood said some rules had led to a system under which asylum seekers had more access to protected accommodation than British citizens,
02:29such as those around antisocial behavior and council housing.
02:33She's...
