00:00David Coverdill has announced his retirement. The singer, he hasn't performed live since the abandonment of Whitesnake's The Farewell to a Mexie after a show at Francis Hellfest in 2022, made the announcement in a video shared on Instagram.
00:13Now 74, Coverdill found in Whitesnake in 1978 after a stint fronting Deep Purple following Ian Gillen's exit. He's recorded three albums with that band 1974's Burn and Stormbringer, both of which went gold in The Us, and 1975's Come Taste the Band Scene on such popular tracks as Burn.
00:33I love you, DD. I thank everyone who's assisted and supported me on this incredible journey. All the musicians, the crew, the fans, the family. It's amazing, but it really is time for me to just enjoy my retirement, and I hope you can appreciate that. Once again, I love you with all my heart. Fare thee well.
