00:00Sir, you have visited many tribal villages of Bengal. So, what do you see about there? What is the status of those people living over there?
00:10See, the plight of the tribals leaves much room for improvement. There are so many problems, problems with not having roads, drinking water, electricity.
00:27The worst thing is that their grievances are not addressed in the proper time, in the proper way.
00:36I have been visiting the tribal villages ever since I took over as a governor here. I used to stay with them, interact with them.
00:44They live with a lot of problems which does not get adequate attention by the competent authorities.
00:52This is a very sad state of affairs, especially in a country where a tribal lady is the first lady, is the president of India.
01:03In such a situation, we should see that tribals are given special attention which they do deserve.
01:10This is not given an adequate measure in many villages in West Bengal, which I visited.
01:15Sir, Bengal election is over. Now West Bengal election is coming. Any special measure that you want to take that we have seen in earlier years ago, too many measures before election?
01:27I still stick to the view that two major problems which confront this state, which needs to be addressed very effectively. One is violence, the other is corruption.
01:40Corruption has to go from the electioneering process. This state will come back to its original glory only if the canker, that is corruption and violence are rooted out and it should be rooted out immediately.
01:57Otherwise, we cannot have free and fair elections in the state. And that is why the Election Commission is taking all steps to see that the election is conducted in this state in a free and fair manner.
02:08Sir, in the light of Behar election, there was election without any violence. Sir, in the light of Behar election, what was due on West Bengal's coming election?
02:18Because in last few elections, we have many times said that so much violence in the election process before and after.
02:25In West Bengal, election should be based on ballot, not bullet. That is a transition which is required urgently in the state.
02:39Sir, yesterday our class happened in the time of November, France BTO and C, between two groups, sir. One group was celebrating the victory of NTA government in PR and others were milong from ruling party, sir. What means, sir?
02:54Any type of violence, whatever be the reason, is recurred with an iron hand. That is what is required in Bengal today.
03:04Sir, one last question. The process of SIA is going on in our state. Any message from the citizens? People getting confused sometimes. People are participating also. Any message from you, sir?
03:19If people are confused, we should convince them that SIA is a due process which is required to clean up the election process and to ensure that free and fair elections take place. Behar has proved it. I am sure the people of Bengal will also accept it. Thank you.
