Interpol Indicates It Will Not Issue Red Notice for Taiwanese Lawmaker

After a Chinese television network said that Beijing could have Interpol issue a Red Notice for a Taiwanese lawmaker, Interpol has said that it will not do so if the request is politically motivated.

00:08China's CCTV recently released a report on Shen accusing him of what he called, quote, Taiwanese separatist activities.

00:16The report said that Beijing could request an Interpol red notice against Shen.

00:20Interpol says that red notice applications cannot be politically motivated.

00:24Red notices ask law enforcement worldwide to locate and detain the target, but it is not an international arrest warrant.
