00:00It's just the occasion that Australia and England are always saying there's always something that goes out on the field.
00:05The whole cricketing world stops for a month to kind of put their attention on this series.
00:10What is a moral victory?
00:11I have no idea. I didn't play for morals.
00:22I think that historically everyone in the cricketing world watches the Ashes.
00:27I think it's there, it's the tradition, it's the competition, you know that it's all flat out.
00:36So for me I think that the Ashes is a very healthy place to be if you want to play cricket because you will fill houses.
00:45Well the rivalry of the Ashes goes back to 1882.
00:51WG Grace and the rest of them, they were as fiercely competitive as anyone of the modern era.
00:56Well I think you feel the weight of tradition and the history.
00:59Everyone knows how the Ashes came about and everyone knows that it's the toughest series to win and the one with the most honour.
01:08And the one with the most kudos when you win because of all the other people that have played before and historic Ashes series.
01:16Everything around the Ashes series, the build up by the press, the history of it, what it means to you as a player.
01:23It can be kind of legacy defining I think if this England team win down there, they'll go down as history as one of the few teams that have won in Australia.
01:32So the sense of optimism and opportunity I think when you embark on a tour like this and the things that set it aside from other series that you play as an England cricketer.
01:41It seems like every Ashes has some drama to it. Even one-sided Ashes in the past seem to, things get stoked up halfway through a series.
01:50So I think if anything this feels like it's kind of, you've got two old rivals who are playing against each other.
01:57I think it always does, you know, it's just the occasion that Australia and England are always seeing.
02:02There's always something that goes out on the field.
02:05Yeah, I'm sure that neither team, no individual will back down if that ever happens.
