00:34:39Well, I came out when I was 12, and I went online.

00:34:50And I woke up the next morning, and I had about 50,000 followers just from that one picture,
00:34:56which back on Facebook in 2012 was a really big thing.

00:35:01Everyone who followed me followed me to be nasty to me in that,
00:35:04because it was like a joke.
00:35:06Back then, it seemed exciting that people knew who I was,
00:35:13but also heartbreaking that so many people could be so vile to one person.
00:35:19I'd go into town, and people would throw glasses at me.
00:35:22People would hit me.
00:35:23People would just attack me.
00:35:25They'd film videos of people hurting me to put on lines.
00:35:29My entire childhood was just based around fear.
00:35:33Some people were in the 20s.
00:35:35Some people were in the 30s, and I was 12.
00:35:39That's awful.
00:35:41And who supported you during this time?
00:35:44My mum and dad were there for me from day dot.
00:35:46They did everything.
00:35:47I couldn't leave the house.
00:35:49I didn't go to school for three years, and I really didn't want to be alive anymore.
00:35:54I hurt myself constantly, and I just hated who I was,
00:35:59because people made me feel like being so young and being so openly queer was a bad thing.
00:36:04And that's to be celebrated, and I feel that somebody so young can know themselves so well so quickly and so passionately.
00:36:13I think that's a wonderful thing.

00:36:15I wish that for every young person to be so free in that, and I feel so sorry that it got turned in on itself.
