00:00So, todays little report on the Lanmoto Night Vision Night Vision Device.
00:09Uh, we've already installed it, so it's not rocket science, so we won't go into any additional pictures or explanations of the installation.
00:20Uh, there are two cables for it, one for the connection to the OBD and one for the connection to the cigarette lighter.
00:25We've now connected it to the OBD bar.
00:31Yes, you can do it however you want.
00:35But at least we keep the cigarette lighter free and, uh, if the OBD error reading is needed, then take the cable out, then you can read the car and, uh, yes, that's the best position, at least here on the car.
00:49Uh, there are two ways to attach it.
00:51One is the typical suction cup mount for the windshield.
00:56We didn't use that here.
00:58Uh, I decided to use the one for the stand that comes with it.
01:03It actually looks pretty good.
01:06A kind of imitation leather fits in quite well with the overall look of the car, at least.
01:12The dashboard is also designed relatively similarly.
01:14Um, yeah, so far it fits in well with the overall appearance of the vehicle.
01:22It looks very high quality and, um, yes, the first glance shows an extremely sharp image.
01:28And the menu buttons, um, on the upper left, allow you to make settings.
01:38For example, you can set the screen to black and white, you can rotate the image, um, right, left, up, down.
01:45To what extent this makes sense or will ever be needed in life, I'll leave that up to you.
01:53Um, it works, but you can do that and you can also connect a reversing camera with the cable, which, however, is not included in our set and, yes, is therefore not functional here.
02:03The cable, as I said, fits quite well here.
02:11You can only see it at the short point, otherwise not much.
02:16Here you can still see it, um, in this area.
02:19It could still be relocated.
02:20We didn't do that now.
02:21It's just supposed to be a test for now.
02:25So it was installed in five minutes and from the outside it goes down to the OBD bar.
02:32You can't see it at all.
02:34It's a little bit wedged into the edge here.
02:37It's easy, it's not squashed, everything's fine.
02:43Yes, and from the outside it looks like this.
02:53Of course you can see the part, but in my opinion it's not really any less inconspicuous than any other head-up display.
02:59They sometimes look relatively similar from the outside and, yes, I don't think it's annoying and here the purpose, the use and the function are probably more important.
03:11Of course, during the day it's not really the task of the night system, but yes, it should also show how the land motor works during the day.
03:27And what I notice right away is the mount, the stand mount.
03:34It simply vibrates.
03:38The road here is still relatively okay.
03:40On poorer roads it's significantly more.
03:42I don't know what the second mount for the windshield looks like.
03:47Uh, but I think due to the large screen, it probably won't ensure that the display is absolutely, uh, uh, stable and doesn't wobble.
03:58The advantage of the stand is that you can easily push it so far that it makes contact with the windshield.
04:09And then, at least with this version, with this car, with this dashboard, uh, in our situation, at least here, the wobbling is completely gone.
04:16So it's a razor sharp image.
04:19Uh, yes, which shows no vibration at all, works perfectly here with this method.
04:23If there is still wobbling, then it is more likely the mount for, uh, for our camera here, which films inside the vehicle.
04:33Unfortunately, one of the mounts broke today, it only clamps at 50%.
04:37I hope it doesn't fall off.
04:40I don't have anything else right now, but it should still work.
04:44Yes, the brightness is now on and can be turned up significantly.
04:48I checked the brightness of the screen with regard to night driving, because I don't think it's much of an advantage if the screen is set to 80, 90, or 100% brightness.
04:59It simply radiates the entire interior.
05:05It's certainly quite obstructive.
05:07It doesn't look so good from the outside either, when such a huge screen is shining brightly in the daytime.
05:15Personally, I find it a bit ridiculous how people connect their iPads for navigation and have the screen on full blast, whoever needs it.
05:22So, it's set to a lower setting.
05:27We'll see when driving at night to what extent that makes sense, whether you can make it a bit brighter or darker.
05:35You can also set it, as mentioned, to black and white.
05:40I might try that out to see if it makes more sense at night.
05:43And yes, otherwise, that was basically a short test drive during the day, just to demonstrate how it works in good weather.
05:56I would also like to emphasize that the camera is not able to capture water, even in the rain.
06:02So, you can't see any water when I wash the windshield.
06:06Uh, no, you can't see water on the windshield.
06:09Of course, you get a windshield wiper, that's quite clear, but the camera doesn't reflect the water.
06:19And the same applies in heavy rain, which is probably a big advantage, especially at night, in poor visibility and heavy rain,
06:27because at least then you have a completely clear view, and in small, winding streets, in small alleys,
06:32where there may still be a lot of people on the road but the lighting is still poor,
06:36I definitely see that as a particularly big advantage.
06:39Otherwise, it's an 8.2-inch display.
06:50It has a near-vision system, so you can see at least as much as you can see out of the windshield.
06:54The screen is a little further forward.
07:01Theoretically, the angle is even a little wider.
07:03That means you can actually see a little more to the right and left than you can from the driver's seat,
07:07because you're sitting a little further back.
07:09Yes, we've already added everything else in our description above, right?
07:18So, the camera films in 1080p HD and the distance would be interesting.
07:29The maximum night-vision distance, which is also stated by Landmotor as 300 meters.
07:33That means the camera can see 300 meters ahead, which is quite a remarkable value.
07:42And yes, something we'll definitely test out as soon as it gets dark here or is dark.
07:47It's certainly worth mentioning that the night-vision system basically works with 12 volts.
07:56That means it can also be used outside the vehicle, for example at campsites, when fishing, while boating, maybe night fishing, whatever, it can be quite helpful.
08:09And another function is the camera for the reversing camera, which can be connected.
08:23The device basically comes with this function, i.e. with the cable connection.
08:28However, the reversing camera was not included in our system, as I already mentioned.
08:32I imagine it would be quite good, especially with the screen, because the reversing camera, as far as I know, also has this wide-angle system and yes, it will certainly be very helpful.
08:49In my opinion, the biggest area of application is probably in trucks and possibly also in buses.
08:57In other words, simply where it is also used a lot commercially.
09:02So, for private individuals it certainly makes sense, but, well, it probably depends on how much you're on the road, how much you drive.
09:12For a driver who probably drives 5,000 kilometers a year, 10% of the time in the dark, I'll leave that aside for now.
09:21But especially for trucks and buses that are on the road every day, especially in trucks on the motorway at night, it's definitely a good investment.
09:32So, let's try it out at dusk.
09:49It's not completely dark yet in Widen, but the sun has been gone for two hours and yes, so you should definitely have the lights on in your car.
09:56And the night vision system already shows a much brighter image than what it's actually like outside.
10:08Also considering the fact that the screen is set to about 45 or 48% brightness.
10:17So, in the case of pastures, it's not full throttle, so to speak, but there's still room for improvement, but it simply works best while driving, so that you're not too distracted by the system, because, as I said, if the screen is simply too bright, too glaring, then of course it's no use either.
10:37So, you can actually see the original image quite well through the windshield,
11:06and then you can see quite well how the night vision device works.
11:12And now we're going to turn onto the forest path, where it's already significantly darker.
11:19And I'll show you again how the device works there.
11:21And then finally, in the next step, in complete darkness, where we'll briefly turn off the lights completely on a quiet road and simply see what the device can do when there's no vehicle light at all.
11:36So, now we're turning off here again towards the forest.
11:51It's getting a bit denser up here.
12:00It gets a little darker there and yes, even now, it's bright daylight, there's hardly any difference to the journey we made during the day.
12:07The screen doesn't seem darker at all, nor does the entire environment.
12:18That works really cool.
12:20To be honest, I think it would be a really cool thing if you could somehow integrate the navigation system,
12:34like simply projecting the arrows where to turn live onto the image, perhaps onto the street.
12:38That's all possible, but I've never seen it in combination with night vision goggles.
12:50I haven't seen it anywhere yet, but that was of course a great feature, maybe something for the future.
13:03Exactly, we can also turn off the lights here, the car lights are off now.
13:08It's actually really dark.
13:13Not completely dark yet, but it's already pretty dark, but um, yeah, if you still move the screen,
13:19then there's hardly any difference to the daytime.
13:26It does exactly what it's supposed to do, turn night into day.
13:29So, finally, our last attempt in complete darkness.
13:40Let's drive a little bit through the town.
13:42The headlights are straight ahead.
13:45I've turned them on now.
13:46I think our camera in the car has a bit of a problem with the fact that the screen is so bright
13:54and that's why everything around the screen is a bit dark.
13:56It's not really as dark as it is outside.
14:03The surroundings are, but yes, the car has a completely normal xenon light.
14:08It's actually bright enough.
14:10You just can't see it that well in the video, but that's not a big deal.
14:13We also want to see what the night vision device can do, and yes, that's pretty clear, right?
14:24Daylight bright image.
14:25Only the difference between oncoming vehicles is sometimes a bit difficult, as you've just seen.
14:40Yes, when the headlights are on in the oncoming vehicle, it's a bit overexposed, but okay.
14:48That's just how it is.
14:49But now it's an extremely poorly lit town, I have to say.
14:58And the screen is as bright as day.
15:01We don't even have the high beams on.
15:05The visibility is extremely wide, always at least one or two streetlights further than you can see with the naked eye.
15:11And we're about to leave the town here, then the streetlights will no longer be there, so it'll be completely dark, and then we'll see.
15:32Exactly, that was the official last streetlight.
15:35Now we only have the car lights and our night vision device, and yes, now with high beam, so the road is completely illuminated all the way to the end, at least 350 to 400 meters.
15:50You can see that really well.
15:56Currently completely without lights.
15:59Pretty cool.
16:00No vehicle lights on.
16:08Of course you shouldn't drive like that, but ultimately you can just about drive.
16:16So and now with high beam again.
16:22Yes.
16:30The only problem I see with the whole thing is that in order to use the night vision device, you simply have to take your eyes off the road.
16:41That's actually what car manufacturers have been developing head-up displays against for years, or moving the air conditioning and radio as high up as possible, just so that your view doesn't deviate from the road.
16:58And, um, yes, with the night vision device we now have the problem, so if you look straight ahead, then you can't use it.
17:11If you look at the night vision device, you can't really look out the windshield anymore.
17:16I find it quite difficult to classify it now.
17:19So, it works, it really does everything it's supposed to, but it's also incredibly distracting, I have to say.
17:32But okay, everyone has to decide for themselves what area of application and purpose it's for.
17:38Our task was to test the whole thing.
17:40It works again now, high beam, so it's bright daylight, everything's fine, it does what it's supposed to do and everyone has to decide for themselves about the rest.
17:52I hope you enjoyed it so far.
17:55Maybe we were able to give you a little help on whether to order it or not.
18:02And we would be happy if you gave us a like or if you followed us on YouTube.
18:05And we would be happy if you enjoyed it.
18:35Thank you!
19:01Bye!
