00:00Welcome to Real Talk, where we get hot, spicy, and to the drama.
00:04This is Samantha Drews, and today we are hanging out with Kiki Fragnoli.
00:09He is a Real Short OG, and we are going to be discussing his viral hits,
00:14How to Dump a Hockey Star, and The Cursed Office.
00:30All right, so Kiki, it's been how many years? Three years now?
00:43If we can count that.
00:45Yeah. Okay, I do have a question for you, though.
00:47Okay, let's hear it.
00:48I want to know first impressions, and I'll give one of my first impressions of you.
00:52Ooh, okay, so we have known each other for, you know, 900 days.
00:55A long time.
00:56Something like that.
00:57Something like that.
00:57In my first 1,000 days of knowing you, I would say I described you to someone more recently as being a person who can make things HD.
01:10So you're somebody who, if you walk into a room and the color is just bland, it's meh, you would enhance it immediately.
01:19So anything that you kind of do in your life is something that I would say galvanizes people.
01:23So it adds a spark, or a needed energy, or your ability to be a battery to other people is something that's probably been how I define you.
01:33I know it's been, like I said, three years, but you brought such energy and passion every day to set that I would say that's probably the most fitting description of you.
01:43Thank you so much for that. I'm going to go cry.
01:46No, thank you for that. I really appreciate you saying that.
01:48I would say my first impression of you, because we were on set together, again, like three years ago, and I remember you being the type of person that I always felt comfortable talking to.
01:58Like, you were someone that I knew, like, if I had any issues, that I could bring it up to you without any judgment.
02:03So I feel like you're the type of person who brings, like, a calm, like, safe energy to everyone around you.
02:14And that's something that I really admire, and I really appreciate about you.
02:16Thank you for saying that.
02:17I remember one of the best memories I had with you was us sitting in some giant SUV, and we were playing music together, just jamming out for hours while they were setting up in between shots.
02:29And just singing in the car about as loud as possible with you was probably one of the more, I'd say, uplifting and core memories that I have of each other.
02:39Because we were in that car a lot, and it was pretty hot, and you always managed to just be a soothing presence in every situation.
02:47So, yeah, I know that's kind of a little tangent, but great seeing you.
02:50No, I mean, yeah, it's always great to see you, too.
02:52You were the first co-star I had for The Vertical Space, so it goes to show you, you know, where we're sitting right now, how many projects that you've probably done since the first one, July of 2022, and now, you know, sitting here together.
03:10It's very surreal.
03:11I think the path that you and I have taken is one that we should be proud of, one that we should be grateful for.
03:18And how great is it that you and I get to, you know, still do what we want to do after all this time.
03:27So, you know.
03:28I think it is almost time for us to have a phone call with a fan who really, really wants to talk with you.
03:36Very excited.
03:37Ooh, a fan, huh?
03:39Hello, Real Short.
03:41This is Kiki Frags here, and I am on the portion of the talk show where I'm going to be introducing a fan who has been waiting patiently to get to talk to Sammy and me.
03:52Let me introduce the one and only Catherine Smith.
03:56Catherine, how's it going?
03:58Hey, how are you?
04:00I'm good.
04:01I am good.
04:02Well, thank you so much for joining us today on Real Short's most exclusive talk show.
04:06So, I'm lucky to be the guest for today, and here with me is also the host, Sam.
04:12Sammy, say hi.
04:13Hi.
04:14Hello.
04:15So, you are in great company, and first and foremost, how are you doing today?
04:19I am a mixture between nervous and fangirling and trying to keep it together.
04:26Fangirling?
04:27I mean, I might be more nervous than you.
04:29What's going on?
04:30You hear my voice just crack?
04:31You're the man of the hour, the day, the year.
04:34You got a lot going on.
04:36Well, I appreciate you saying that, and it means a lot that you're spending the time to come in and talk to me.
04:44For the most part, I do want to know, how did you hear about verticals and the vertical space to get to meet me in general?
04:52Just curious.
04:53I don't remember the first ad that I saw that hooked me in.
04:56I've gotten a lot of favorites, a lot of my actor favorites, and you happen to be one of them.
05:03Make me blush right now.
05:04Low-key obsessed.
05:06I'm trying not to fangirl here, but low-key obsessed.
05:11Please, my head won't be able to fit through that door on the way out, so my face is getting really red right now.
05:17But besides me, there's so many other amazing and talented vertical men out there.
05:24They're terrific.
05:24You want to give me one of your crushes who, you know, I won't tell them, or maybe I will.
05:31Safe space, right?
05:32Safe space.
05:32Safe space.
05:33Judge Free Zone.
05:34Who do you got for me?
05:35Oh, man.
05:36That's so many.
05:37No pressure.
05:37No pressure.
05:38I have to give it to LCS, Luke Charles Stafford.
05:41Okay.
05:43I mean, he's special.
05:44I'll give it to you.
05:45Nevin Tomic.
05:46I love him, too.
05:47Oh, I'm going to tell him that you said that.
05:50He's one of my buddies.
05:51I love him.
05:51He's a great guy.
05:52I love him so much.
05:54And he's very sweet.
05:55And when I comment on his Instagram posts, he always responds to everyone.
05:59Very sweet guy.
06:00He's as nice as he is handsome.
06:02And let me tell you this.
06:03He's really handsome.
06:04So, that just kind of goes to show you how good of a person he is.
06:08Those are just a few that I love amongst many.
06:12I have a lot.
06:14The list is long, but it's quality, not quantity.
06:18Let's hope I'm still up there.
06:20You're definitely there.
06:21Ooh, thank you, Catherine.
06:22Can I ask which show have you seen from Kiki?
06:26That's most memorable to me.
06:28The DILF one.
06:29Okay?
06:30I'm sorry.
06:30That is very, very memorable.
06:34That one's memorable to my parents, too, so.
06:37What?
06:38You had your parents watch that?
06:40No, no, no.
06:41It just happened to make the national news.
06:45That's a whole other story.
06:47I'm currently laying in bed.
06:48It's like 10 a.m.
06:50And I get a wonderful phone call from my mom.
06:52You know, I look over.
06:54It's just, you know, mom's cell.
06:56It's early in the morning.
06:57You don't think it's going to be anything major.
06:59You go and answer.
07:00Hey, mom.
07:00Good morning.
07:01How are you doing?
07:02And we just saw you on the news.
07:04Oh, what?
07:06Kiki, do you know what a DILF is?
07:09They color it in my face.
07:12How mortified were you?
07:13Let's just say I didn't need my morning cup of coffee after that one.
07:16I was already awake.
07:17So, yeah.
07:18Yeah, so I'm glad that you know that one because my family loves that one, too.
07:23Sorry, mom.
07:24Sorry, dad.
07:26They find it funny.
07:27But they did have to put in Google what a DILF was because I didn't want to tell them.
07:32So that one was special.
07:33The talent on DILF, real quick, shout out to Tyler, shout out to David, shout out to Mariah, shout out to Natalie.
07:43I'm trying to think whoever else I'm missing real quickly.
07:45Everyone was a superb cast member in that one.
07:48I think for how silly of a premise, how fun and goofy it was, I was surrounded by just talented people all throughout.
07:57So, you know, you picked a good one.
07:58You have a good picture of like goofy and, you know, and romance.
08:02Yeah, that's a good way of putting it.
08:03So, you know, next question.
08:05Is there anything that you would like to know about me?
08:10Of course.
08:10So I see that you're very outdoorsy or in nature.
08:12I live in New York, so I'm very city.
08:15You know, I did light digging because I want to kind of get to know you organically through this call.
08:20But you have kind of like an honor or an in for a firefighter.
08:26You're in several marathons.
08:29You're training to your Mr. Vermont USA.
08:34What kind of precipitated you into going into this lifestyle arc?
08:39Because acting also is kind of you're portraying something else, but you also bring yourself into it.
08:48So what kind of precipitated you being in this nature type lifestyle?
08:52Does that make any sense?
08:54Yeah.
08:55So, you know, you kind of named a bunch of things that I'm currently doing in my life.
09:01And then you're also kind of bringing up the sense that I'm doing acting, which might be kind of hard to connect the two.
09:08Where one originated, where did the other one fall into it?
09:11I guess to just kind of back things up, why did I become an actor?
09:14We'll break it up into two parts.
09:16Why did I become an actor?
09:16And why am I so outdoorsy and nature-esque?
09:20And why do I want to be so involved in the community?
09:22So the first part is I didn't know I wanted to become an actor.
09:25Never once did I ever think I was going to be the A word.
09:28An actor in Los Angeles?
09:33God forbid.
09:34Who wants to be around one of those?
09:38Someone heard of.
09:39Oh, God.
09:41I joke.
09:42All actors out there.
09:42I'm kidding.
09:43We're all in this together.
09:45But no, I did not know.
09:47I thought I was going to go to law school.
09:48So I graduated with a biology degree specializing in biochemistry for public health.
09:55And I really thought I was going to go to law school.
09:57I thought I was going to go to medical malpractice.
09:59Something that was completely different than the standard of kind of going into a public health route and then going into public health.
10:07I kind of wanted to take the law side of it.
10:10And so I was also dating this girl at the time.
10:12And I just graduated college.
10:14And I was going to move into a place in D.C. to be a little bit closer to said ex-girlfriend.
10:21And this is 2018.
10:24I study all summer after I graduate to go and take this entrance exam.
10:29And so right before I take this entrance exam, my said ex-girlfriend breaks up with me.
10:34I'm completely devastated.
10:37I didn't know exactly what I was going to do.
10:39Here I am going to be moving into an apartment that I'm not necessarily now excited for.
10:44And so my best friend from college at the time, his name's Ross, he always wanted to become an actor.
10:49He spent his last semester going to Tisch acting school.
10:53And he was going to make it his thing where he's going to travel the end of summer to go to L.A.
10:59and fulfill this dream.
11:00And lo and behold, he ends up staying at my parents' place the day after my LSAT and two days after my ex-girlfriend breaks up with me.
11:08And I tell him everything.
11:12I'm like, man, Ross, I'm so screwed.
11:16What am I going to do?
11:17Like, I'm not happy.
11:18Like, what's going on?
11:20I'm having a quarter-life crisis and I'm barely 22.
11:23And he gets kind of quiet.
11:25We're at our, like, local drinking hall.
11:26So we're both sharing beers and he gets kind of quiet and takes a sip and puts down his drink and looks at me and goes, move out with me.
11:34And I'm like, what?
11:35He goes, move out with me to Los Angeles.
11:37Quit your job.
11:38Get out of D.C.
11:39Don't go.
11:40And so lo and behold, I take his advice.
11:43I drop everything.
11:44Move out to L.A. on a whim.
11:45Still don't think I'm going to become an actor.
11:47I'm looking at law schools, doing all that.
11:49And then finally, lo and behold, we find an apartment together.
11:56I'm doing a bunch of odd jobs, essentially, for the first couple of months.
11:59I don't really know anyone.
12:00I'm just trying to make ends meet.
12:02I'm starting to regret this decision case-ily that I made.
12:07But lo and behold, I end up getting a job as a personal assistant for some studio that they normally hire out for merchandise and things like that for different shoots, commercial, print, you name it.
12:18And there was one time that this band, the Rolling Stones, coincidentally, yeah, this band, it's a pretty, pretty big one, shows up, but they don't have their male models.
12:30They don't, for whatever reason, either they didn't show up or I don't know whatever happens.
12:35But my boss talks to their manager being like, hey, this kid, you know, can model.
12:40You should use him.
12:41And then points to me.
12:42And I'm like looking at, I'm looking at her like, what are you talking about?
12:46I have no experience.
12:47And so they shoved me in front of the screen and I do my first modeling gig.
12:52No experience whatsoever.
12:54And like that kind of changed my life a little bit.
12:56I know that's kind of a long tangent of how I became an actor, but more or less like it just kind of started snowballing.
13:03And then like the vertical space kind of picked up a little bit.
13:05And then the second part is just me being outdoorsy and whatnot is I'm very much a community guy.
13:12I know you said you're from New York.
13:13My family's from the Northeast, I'm from New York, Vermont, and I'm Italian.
13:18So just being close with family and having that communal aspect is pretty important and advantageous to me.
13:25I don't think it's ever really left.
13:26So it's just who I am as a person, just to kind of put it shortly.
13:30But I know that's probably not the most easy navigated answer.
13:34No, I love that.
13:36I don't think straight line.
13:37I think I like to connect the dots like you said.
13:40So that really did answer my question.
13:42Really fascinating, actually, how you, you know, some people in your position at that time, you were doing odd jobs.
13:51You were, you know, living with your friend.
13:54Things weren't kind of looking up for you at that time.
13:56And some people would just kind of give up and say, you know, screw it, let me move, let me be back home, or let me just go back to school and figure it out.
14:06But you stuck through it, and it really paid off.
14:10Yeah, it just kind of, it's better that way.
14:12Kind of keeping expectations low and taking advantage of all the opportunities.
14:16But we do got to get going.
14:17Unfortunately, that's all the time that we have on this show.
14:21Real quick, can I say thank you to you guys and to Real Short for having me?
14:27I'm just really honored to be here.
14:30I know you got to go, so.
14:31No, no.
14:32They're all giving thumbs up behind in post.
14:35So thank you for the shout out.
14:37We're going to do a quick little screenshot.
14:39Ready?
14:39Three, two, one.
14:42Beautiful.
14:43Thank you so much.
14:44It was wonderful meeting you.
14:45Thank you, Sammy.
14:46Of course.
14:47Wonderful meeting you, Catherine.
14:48I appreciate it.
14:49Thank you for your time, both of you.
14:50And thank you to Real Short for having me here.
14:53I am just so honored.
14:54I didn't think this was going to happen, so.
14:56Well, I'm really, really happy.
14:58I'm happy that it was you.
14:59I hope you have a great day.
15:00And thank you so much.
15:04Oh, she's a sweet heart.
15:05So sweet.
15:08How lucky am I to get to talk to someone who's so close-knit and wanting the best for me in the vertical space?
15:15That's unbelievable.
15:16I would love to see some episodes from your latest series out of debunkies.
15:23Are we going to allow this to happen?
15:24What?
15:27That right there is my husband, Levi Carlson.
15:30All right.
15:31Fun fact is I don't think I've ever had the same haircut in any real short production.
15:36Oh, it's nice.
15:37I love this cut.
15:39Oh, Hailey's so pretty.
15:41This was filmed on my birthday, actually, this day.
15:43Really?
15:43Yeah.
15:43So Hailey, like, went all out.
15:45Aw.
15:46Is she pregnant?
15:47I'm not going to say anything.
15:48Well, she just did.
15:50Yep.
15:50She's pregnant.
15:51Oh, cool.
15:51Can you already guess who's the not-so-nice person?
15:54Who's the good person?
15:55Who's the bad?
15:55Yes.
15:56I don't...
15:56Her.
16:00Okay, you're right.
16:01She is the evil person.
16:02Aw.
16:03Fun fact, I was trying to get onto the ice so many times.
16:07There is a hockey scene.
16:09Okay.
16:09I used to play.
16:17This might be my favorite scene in the entire show, right off the bat.
16:21This is cruel.
16:26When we did this scene, nobody could keep a straight face.
16:29They had to run MOS because we all were just dying laughing.
16:35It's such a pretty shot, though.
16:36It is.
16:37Can we acknowledge that?
16:37It is beautiful.
16:38She's stunning, right?
16:40Girl?
16:41What?
16:42I know.
16:43I know.
16:43I know.
16:44I...
16:45I'm telling you, it is astronomically crazy of how many times I either don't answer her,
16:52avoid her, or just don't trust her within the first four episodes.
16:55Hayley did such a good job at, like, looking so vulnerable that sometimes I, like, would
17:01almost forget the line because I'm looking into her eyes and she's just, like, looking
17:05so distraught that I'd forget my own.
17:07Oh, yeah.
17:08Yeah.
17:09Though that happens.
17:10Where your scene partner's just so good.
17:11So good.
17:12You're like, I'm hypnotized.
17:13Yeah.
17:14But an uneducated orphan.
17:16Uneducated orphan.
17:18The bad wave.
17:19I love life.
17:20I love life.
17:21I really expect to believe she's some hockey strategy genius.
17:25This is it.
17:26How dare you?
17:29Renee.
17:30No.
17:32I finally signed.
17:34For three.
17:35That's a triple slap if I've ever.
17:38Hayley, if you're out there, wait, hit him.
17:41Snaps to that.
17:44There was four slaps in that one.
17:45It was four, yeah.
17:46Hayley had three of them.
17:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:48It was just, like, one, and then...
17:49Okay.
17:50Okay.
17:51Okay.
17:52Okay.
17:53But no one thought back.
17:56I didn't like the timing of it.
17:58No, it was great.
17:59I love how your character is so much not like you.
18:04It shows, like, how great of a performer you are, honestly.
18:07Because you can play different types of characters.
18:09They've all been so different where I'm really happy that this character, although he might
18:17not appear like he's a good guy.
18:19I don't like him.
18:20Not many people do.
18:21No.
18:22He has his flaws, and I think I try to show that to the best of my ability.
18:27So I think it's been fun to kind of just highlight and show you the different aspects
18:32that I would try to portray for certain types of characters.
18:35Okay.
18:36Well, if you want to know what happens next, please make sure to go and watch How to Duff
18:41a Hockey Star on Real Short.
18:42Please.
18:43Check it out, guys.
18:44It's a good one.
18:45So, I hope you like it.
18:46Well, thank you so much, Kiki, for being here.
18:47Sammy, it was a pleasure.
18:49After all these years, it's like we picked it up right where we left off.
18:52I just want to say thank you for you and in real short for giving me this platform and
18:57time.
18:59Crazy Maple is beautiful.
19:00If you guys ever have the chance for my other vertical friends out there, do check it out.
19:05For those of you guys who are fans on this show, please keep on watching.
19:10There's only more and more vertical material that you're going to want to get hooked on.
19:14And I think that's more or less where I'm going to end it.
19:18Sam, thank you one last time.
19:20No.
19:20I just want to say, you know, from the bottom of my heart, it's great seeing you again.
19:23And hopefully we can do this again in the future.
19:25Yeah.
19:26It's always so wonderful to talk with you, Kiki.
19:28So, hopefully we get to do a project together.
19:30We will.
19:31Should we take a selfie?
19:32I heard it's selfie time.
19:33Yeah.
19:34Alright.
19:35Bye.
19:40Can't wait for the place.
19:43Bye.
19:44Bye.
19:48Bye.
19:55Bye.
19:57Bye.
20:00Bye.
