00:00What are your salary expectations? It's an interview question that's the stuff of nightmares
00:06and can leave you getting paid less than your worth or lose you a job offer. Here's how to
00:11tackle the question to get the salary you want. According to job site Indeed.com, do your research
00:17before the interview. Sites like Glassdoor and Indeed can give you an idea of a salary range for
00:22your position and experience. Say something like, I'm looking for between $55,000 and $60,000,
00:27but I'm open to negotiating based on benefits, bonuses, and other factors. This way you put
00:33your cards on the table, but they know there's wiggle room. Interview coach Andrew Pearl told
00:37Monster.com to also try and push salary talks to the end of the interview so you can show your
00:43potential first. Divert the conversation back to your skills to convince them you're worth what
00:48you plan on asking. You can also say you'd like to know more about the job requirements before
00:52answering. Pearl also says if you feel you're reaching the end of the interview, ask the
00:57interviewer for a salary range before they ask you. If you beat them to the punch, you have
01:02the upper hand and you can tailor your answers to the position.
