00:00The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, or BFAR, warns the public regarding the shellfish from several areas that remain positive from the paralytic shellfish poison or toxic red tide beyond the regulatory limit.
00:12Areas affected include Dumangkilias Bay in Zamboanga del Sur, Tantanam Bay in Zamboanga-Cibugay Province, the coastal waters of Zumaraga Island in Samar, Matarinau Bay in Eastern Samar, and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur.
00:26This means that all types of shellfish and asepis or alamang from these areas are not safe for human consumption.
00:33In the meantime, fish, squid, shrimp, and crab are safe for human consumption according to the BFAR.
00:39This is provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and the internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.
00:47According to retailers in Metro Manila, there are no seafood sourced from these waters.
00:51Deliveries of shellfish have also started arriving today after the delays in delivery due to recent typhoons.
