00:00It's interesting that you raise the way that you liaise with the region because it leads me to a question of how do you ensure stability, security, prosperity without encroaching on those echoes of colonial past that obviously still run deep in that part of the world.
00:21Yes, you're absolutely right and we have to be very clear about this. We can make a contribution but we do not have primary responsibility. We can only work with those who are in a position of authority to the extent that they are available and open for that.
00:39We have no wish whatsoever to impose our views, our perhaps anachronistic understanding from Europe onto what are fast-moving realities in a very young region.
00:57We're talking about a region where 70% of the population is 25 or under. People who have completely different prospects and outlooks and what we want to do is to be able to demonstrate that actually a good, healthy and strong relationship with Europe should be part of a better future for all of them.
01:20But we're not in the business of imposing anything at all. That I think would be a major mistake.
