00:41¡Gracias!
00:42¡You now a member of the 119th Congress!
00:57We need to respect tribal sovereignty in our environment.
01:11We need to stand up for LGBTQ plus rights because that's what the American people expect us to do.
01:18Fight for them.
01:19That is why I will sign the discharge petition right now to release the Epstein files.
01:49That would be another, that would not be my question.
02:04This is the, look, I really like this lady.
02:06She's going to be an excellent member of Congress.
02:08She's a great person.
02:09I just told her on the way in that she fills her father's shoes or she's going to try.
02:13No one can.
02:15She may not agree with me, but we follow the custom of the house on the timetable.
02:19And we've had a little, as we say in the deep south, some intense fellowship about that.
02:23But she's here now.
02:25And I promised that we would have her the oath administered before we began legislative business.
02:29So she hasn't missed a vote.
02:31And we're delighted you're here.
02:32So anything I can do to help you as I do all members, happy to get you acclimated and do everything.
02:37But you know more than most because your dad was here for a long time.
02:39I visited.
02:40I never did this job.
02:41So this is brand spanking new.
02:43So I will take the offer of help.
02:45Congratulations.
02:46Thank you.
02:46Thank you so much.
02:47Thank you.
02:47Thank you.
02:49But this historic moment comes with a sober reality.
03:11My swearing in was delayed by 50 days.
03:14It's the longest in modern history.
03:17And let's understand very clearly that if I were a Republican, I would not have waited this long.
03:24If I were a man, I would not have waited this long.
03:27We all know that the rules are always different for women of color and people of color.
03:34And we have to fight against that.
03:37There is no way that this can ever happen again to anyone at all.
03:45We're going to push forward bipartisan legislation to ensure it because we cannot allow this to happen to anybody again.
03:53For one individual to be able to silence 800,000 people, it's unconscionable.
04:01It's just not okay.
04:04And the Epstein files discharge petition sat one signature short.
04:16With my signing, we move one step closer to the truth, the truth that they will try to deny, but that survivors deserve their day of justice and the American people demand it.
04:30And finally, my overwhelming election in Arizona sends a clear message.
04:37This nation, built by immigrants, strengthened by diversity, will choose hope over hate and leadership over chaos every time.
04:47We've been waiting for a little while.
04:49It's a little surreal, I have to say.
04:51It is.
04:52People keep asking me how I feel, and honestly, maybe I'll have a better answer tomorrow.
04:56But right now, we've waited so long that, you know, I'm looking at my kids and my mom and my husband, and they're both, they're all looking at us like, what does that feel like?
05:07I'm like, I have no idea.
05:08And if you ask them, they'll probably say the same thing.
05:10Thank you.
