00:00I'm taking you through the 5 best Quest 3 games that you should try first if you just
00:03picked up a Quest 3 or Quest 3S and you're looking for some fun VR titles to quickly
00:08get immersed in.
00:09From Caped Crusaders, realistic flying, to relaxing cozy games, I've got something for
00:12everyone here.
00:13We've got our unboxing of the Quest 3S on socials if you want to follow along, but setting
00:18up both the 3S and the 3 are both fairly similar and straightforward.
00:22In the box you get the headset, a power cable, power brick, facial interface which is pre-installed,
00:27and an optional glasses spacer, and of course your two controllers which also come with
00:31batteries.
00:32The controllers can be securely attached to each wrist using the adjustable straps, or
00:37third-party accessories like this offer a really convenient way to hold on.
00:41While they're not always necessary for more casual games or apps, if you're new to VR
00:45or you're diving into some more immersive games, this is a good way to make sure your
00:48controllers don't go flying off your hands.
00:50For your first setup, you'll turn on both controllers by holding the meta and the menu
00:54button on your right and left controller respectively for 2 seconds each.
00:58You can now put on your headset and adjust the straps to make sure it's secure but still
01:02comfortable.
01:03The top strap adjusts the tightness towards the top of your head, whereas adjusting the
01:07spacing here will determine how tight it is around the back of your head.
01:12With your controllers paired and your headset on, you'll be taken through an easy-to-follow
01:15setup guide for creating or signing into your account, connecting to WiFi, and a VR tutorial
01:21which will get you more familiar with the Quest and its controls.
01:24I know you're really excited to jump into some cool new games, but let me give you two
01:28quick tips that you're going to want to know before finishing your setup.
01:31The first, and this is something I actually recently learned, you can create your meta
01:35account using just an email.
01:36You don't have to link it with your Facebook or your Instagram account.
01:39So whether you don't have one of those accounts already or you just don't want to associate
01:43it with your headset, it's a less known option that you may prefer.
01:46Next, and it's actually surprising how few people, even long-time Quest users, are unfamiliar
01:50with this, but there's actually a cheaper and easier way to get a great catalog of games
01:55via the Quest Plus subscription service.
01:58If you're familiar with Xbox, Game Pass, or PS Plus, it's essentially the same idea.
02:02With your active subscription, you'll get access to an existing, growing catalog with
02:06each new month adding new games.
02:08While its game selection isn't as big as Xbox or PlayStation, it has some of the biggest
02:12titles available right now and is a very affordable way to start playing several great games, a few
02:17of which are included on this list for just $7.99 a month or discounted to $59.99 if you
02:22pay for a full year in advance.
02:24And considering how many games on its list are over $20 on their own, this can pay for itself
02:29in no time.
02:30Finally, my last word of advice, playing in VR can take some getting used to.
02:34Despite owning a Quest for several years, motion sickness is still something I struggle with
02:38in certain games, especially ones with lots of fast movements or turning.
02:43Many games have settings to help reduce these effects, but when you're just getting started,
02:47it's a good idea to take things slow and take frequent breaks so you don't get sick.
02:52So now that you're ready to get gaming on your new Quest 3 or Quest 3S, here are the
02:56five best games that I think you should play first.
02:59We've got something here for everyone, but if you've got any suggestions for other games
03:02you think I should try out or any other viewer, let us know in the comments.
03:07If you're new to VR or you just want a chill way to ease in, Walkabout Mini Golf is the
03:11perfect first stop.
03:14It's a simple pickup, great for all ages, and helps you get familiar with the movement
03:17and controls in VR without the risk of motion sickness.
03:21Though I'll admit, sometimes peering over the edge of some of these courses can make your
03:24stomach flip just a little.
03:26The charm here lies in its low-poly yet surprisingly very immersive worlds.
03:32With eight beautifully crafted 18-hole courses, including Pyre Islands, tranquil western landscapes,
03:37and alien planets, plus with an optional 20-plus DLC courses to choose from and more on the
03:42way, you're never going to run out of places to putt.
03:45It's also one of the best multiplayer on Quest that I've tried, so if you've got friends
03:48with headsets, this is a must-play.
03:52Have you ever wondered what it's like to be Batman?
03:54In Batman Arkham Shadow, you get closer to experiencing the Caped Crusader.
03:58This isn't as feature-packed as other Batman Arkham titles, but what it lacks in scope
04:03it makes up for in sheer immersion.
04:06Gotham and its gritty levels look absolutely stunning in VR, and using Batman's gadgets,
04:10the grappling hooks, batarangs, you name it, all feels very intuitive and downright cool.
04:15That said, gliding across ledges or free-falling could make you a little queasy, but the game
04:19does include settings to help reduce motion sickness.
04:22It is on the pricier side, but we do have a coupon link below to help you save.
04:26And if you're after that AAA superhero vibe, this one delivers.
04:30Maybe tabletop strategy is more your speed.
04:32Demio brings the dice-rolling miniature moving world of dungeon crawling straight to VR.
04:37In this game, you're tasked with saving Gilmera, but the real magic is how you interact with
04:42the board.
04:43You can zoom in, getting eye-level with your miniature warriors, and it never gets old
04:46watching them come to life with each movement.
04:49With multiple classes, turn-based strategy, and tons of replayability, it's a game that you
04:54can easily sink hours into, especially with its four-player cross-platform co-op mode.
04:59Plus, if you're on Quest Plus, it's already part of the library.
05:02It's a no-brainer.
05:05Time to go back in time.
05:06Ever dreamed of soaring through the skies in a biplane?
05:09Warplane's World War I fighter scratches that itch beautifully.
05:13The plane models here are extremely well-detailed, the environments look great from above, and
05:17you can dial in the controls to suit your style, whether you prefer arcade flying or full-blown
05:22flight simulator experience.
05:23You'll get to experience two campaigns and access 20 planes, but where this game truly
05:28shines is in its multiplayer.
05:30Both PvP dogfights and co-op missions let you test your aerial skills and grow as a virtual
05:35World War I pilot.
05:36It's also available on Quest Plus, which is a plus, making it easier than ever to dive in.
05:41Next up, we've got what I consider to be one of the best hidden gems on the Quest Store.
05:4510 billion table tennis is completely free, yet its physics-based responsiveness of table
05:49tennis rivals paid alternatives.
05:52Developing real-world skills on the Quest is what makes this such an amazing experience
05:56beyond just entertaining.
05:57I've legitimately improved my real-world table tennis skills playing this game.
06:02It's that accurate.
06:03Just like Walkabout Mini Golf, it's an easy title to show off VR to your friends or family.
06:08To see how accurate it was, I even set the virtual table to match a real-life one, making
06:12it for an almost surreal experience.
06:14While some of the paid table tennis games that I've tried out have better virtual environments,
06:18when it comes to raw gameplay and mechanics, 10 billion is my pick.
06:22From a quick pick-up game to honing in on your techniques, this is a game that you don't
06:25want to miss.
06:26Finally, while it's not technically a VR game, Xbox Cloud Gaming lets you play hundreds
06:30of Xbox titles like FC24, Fallout New Vegas, or Indiana Jones on a massive virtual screen.
06:37If you already have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, this costs nothing extra and
06:41is an absolute must install.
06:43So long as you have a strong internet connection and a compatible controller like the one from
06:47the Xbox, you're good to go.
06:49The games aren't in VR, but the giant screen experience feels immersive enough and makes
06:54for an awesome way to play your favorite titles, especially if you don't have a massive
06:57TV at home or you just want to sneak in some gaming while traveling.
07:03So these have been the titles that make the Quest 3 or Quest 3S shine, whether you're exploring
07:07in VR for the first time, flying high in a biplane, or fighting crime in Gotham.
07:12Give these a try and you'll see why the Quest 3 and 3S are one of the best ways to dive into
07:17another world.
07:18There are so many other amazing games and apps to try out, but this is a great place
07:21to start.
07:22If you want to learn more about the Quest 3 or 3S, we've got some great videos linked
07:25in the description.
07:26And if you're on the fence about whether or not you should buy one, I've also got a
07:29really cool video where I compare this to the Apple Vision Pro and you'll see just how
07:33close this can come.
07:34And finally, if there's a game that you think I missed or that I should try out for the next
07:38one, let me hear them in the comments.
07:40You can find us everywhere at Tom's Guide and you can follow me to see what other cool tech
07:43I'm reviewing.
07:44And until the next one, I'll catch you later.
