00:30She's the person I call when I can't tell my mom or dad that I want to buy something.
00:34How about $600 for everything?
00:36So I have about half of the money for that.
00:38Would you be able to front me the other half of that?
00:44Well...
00:45Hi, guys. It's St. Nick here.
00:56Welcome to my crazy Christmas basement.
00:58Let's take a tour.
00:59I'm 26, and I still live here with my parents.
01:02Down here usually is at least half of the year is decorated.
01:06Everybody's bathroom needs ceramic trees.
01:08We got them everywhere.
01:09I was born on Christmas Day, so the first night of my life,
01:12I was literally put in a Santa hat and a Santa outfit right at the hospital.
01:17So I go by St. Nick.
01:19Here is my crown jewel of trees.
01:21It's a white bottle brush tree, which is really, really hard to find.
01:24This came straight out of a drugstore, so I'm thinking it's at least 50 years old.
01:29Over here is, like, another crown jewel.
01:32This was only made for about two or three years, and it actually starts snowing.
01:37I can show you right here.
01:38The snow gets sucked up from the bottom and then blows through the whole tree, like it's snowing.
01:43I'll probably never get rid of my stuff because I am so obsessed with collecting.
01:49It makes me all bubbly.
01:51I feel like a kid again, so anytime I can feel that way in this crazy world, I will.
01:55And I'll never let anybody tell me otherwise.
01:57Usually every garland is covering every little edge.
02:01See how there's a couple edges over on that window there?
02:04They cover every single edge.
02:05I hate seeing edges.
02:07If I go in your house, I will be judging your tree.
02:09Not you physically, but your tree.
02:12You got to see my bedroom.
02:13Come on.
02:14In here is my really, really special stuff.
02:19Anything that could break and I don't want anybody touching, I keep behind these doors.
02:26Oh, and speaking of cool things, this is my idea of my dream house, but in little miniature scale.
02:33The wallpaper is actually real wrapping paper from the 1960s.
02:36And why not?
02:37You got to have the elf going to the bathroom.
02:39Isn't he precious?
02:40I love him.
02:41Every night I sit in this bed and I get to have the view of this entire crazy Christmas extravaganza.
02:48So you could just sit here and relax and look at all the really cool, shiny stuff.
02:53Isn't it cool?
02:56Look, this tree took me eight hours.
02:58Wow.
02:59And it keeps not moving.
03:01Wait.
03:01Watch.
03:02Wait.
03:04Wait.
03:05Wait.
03:05She spins.
03:09Just very, uh, not consistently.
03:12Isn't that nice?
03:13I used to just sit home and just strictly play with Santa Clauses.
03:18But once I met him, I finally actually, uh, found out what a social life is.
03:22You used to just strictly play with Santa Claus.
03:25I did.
03:25I did.
03:26I'm only like 50% done with this room.
03:28To normal people?
03:30To normal.
03:31This is done.
03:32There's literally 20 snowmen that go on that couch.
03:34Do they look like they're there?
03:35Look at how cute that is.
03:39He's definitely obsessed.
03:41He's in his own little world, 24-7.
03:44Then he definitely misses out on a lot of stuff.
03:47But whatever he sets his mind on is what he's going to do until he gets it done.
03:51Why are you looking at it like that?
03:53Stop.
03:53Because it's freaky.
03:54Freaking cool.
04:03All right.
04:03Let's go look for the Santa.
04:05I don't know exactly where it is, but we're going to find it.
04:08Anytime I'm free, I will always want to be out in my workshop fixing, refurbishing, repainting,
04:15just getting stuff ready for this holiday season.
04:17Especially if you have as many projects as I do, it's pretty much a never-ending cycle.
04:21I had a Santa that I already started to rehab a couple months ago,
04:24so I have to find this Santa Claus and get it going.
04:28Nicholas, when are we going to put this stuff away?
04:31Look at it.
04:32Isn't that so nice?
04:33Nick is my youngest of seven.
04:36As a kid, he always was a collector.
04:39And it's never going to stop.
04:41I just want to admire it still.
04:42Put them away, please.
04:44I know.
04:44I'll get there.
04:45We're in the middle of summer.
04:46No, we won't.
04:46I do construction, which is also kind of a creative outlet.
04:50You get to build, nail, create, paint.
04:52A lot of the times I'm painting, which I find very relaxing.
04:55So, exactly what does it look like and what is it in?
04:59It's in a box and it's got a red suit.
05:02I'll pick anything off the shelf that I feel is in that category.
05:06Okay.
05:06Okay.
05:07Thank you.
05:07You go that way.
05:08You go that way.
05:11Look in a box that doesn't have blow molds like this.
05:13See, it's all stacked.
05:14My barn is sort of an organized mess.
05:16It's 40 by 80.
05:18And I specifically wanted the 16-foot ceiling
05:20so that I could put all of my giant things just straight in there.
05:24Is this Pinocchio?
05:25What the hell is this?
05:26That ain't going nowhere.
05:27That used to hang on State Street in Chicago.
05:29There's just so much stuff overflowing.
05:31If somebody steps on something, I got probably 100 more of them.
05:35What is that?
05:36Is that a banana?
05:37Okay.
05:39Oh, it's Batty Bear.
05:40What is this?
05:41Stop.
05:42I created that thing in high school.
05:44Its hair is falling off.
05:45It's terrifying.
05:46Oh, no.
05:47Oh, it's definitely hoarding.
05:49But cool stuff.
05:50Is it really hoarding if it's cool and people think it's cool?
05:53That's the real question.
05:55Is this a bag of-
05:56Actually, leave that stuff.
05:56Leave that.
05:57That's all craft stuff.
05:59It's a bag of bags.
06:00Okay, get the bigger stuff out of the way, please.
06:03Nick's collection has cost him upwards of 100,000 or more.
06:09It is concerning, but he knows what's worth
06:13buying, and everything that he purchased can be turned over, and he can make three times,
06:21four times off of every single thing.
06:23Oh, my God.
06:24This is actually mine.
06:25What is this?
06:26Oh.
06:27If Nick had more barns, he would fill them all.
06:32He has so much stuff, it's endless, and he could never get enough stuff.
06:38Ooh.
06:39Oh, God.
06:40Don't drop anything on me, please.
06:43Found them.
06:44I think I am the real-life elf.
06:46Here, let me just-
06:46You're good.
06:49You're good.
06:49You're fine.
06:50Every single thing I eat is covered in syrup.
06:52It gives me energy, and that's probably why I'm always smiling and jittery, because I'm
06:56just 90% sugar.
06:58Ooh, I'm so happy I found it.
06:59Oh, yeah.
07:00It took long enough.
07:01Us too.
07:02Hope, are you down here?
07:09Yeah.
07:10Oh, Jesus.
07:12What are you doing here?
07:13Well, I came over to get that thing for your mom, but where did all this stuff come from?
07:20Well, you know, over time, as a collector, it just kind of builds up.
07:24Yeah, I guess.
07:25I'm Hope.
07:26This is my dad, Chris, and I love Christmas.
07:28Yeah, she loves Christmas to an extreme, I guess, is the way to put it.
07:32I am obsessed with making Christmas headbands.
07:35I did make one for you.
07:35Oh, thank you, honey.
07:37Okay.
07:38How does that feel?
07:38Great.
07:39Just great.
07:40Thank you.
07:44Why do you need two of those?
07:46Yeah, I think one would be good, you know?
07:48Well, I have three.
07:50That's nice.
07:51My collection is pretty big.
07:52It started with blow molds, and now it's like the tchotchkes, and it's huge.
07:56My entire basement is Christmas.
07:59I'm going to take those two, and let me grab the last one.
08:02Isn't there enough up there already?
08:04Well, I'm going to decorate for the living room, too.
08:09Have you seen my house decorated for Christmas?
08:12Yeah.
08:14My love of Christmas started as early as I can remember, when I was a child.
08:18Okay, so last year, Kyle and I were talking about suspending Santa and the reindeer from
08:21the ceiling.
08:22Do you think you could help me do that?
08:24No.
08:24My dad, back in the 90s, you know, in his heyday, really decorated for Christmas.
08:31He would go out and string all the trees outside and put all the blow molds.
08:34I bought blow molds just because I knew the kids would like them.
08:38No actual intent of creating this passion.
08:41Will you grab this one for me?
08:42Yeah, sure.
08:43My dad started a Christmas dish set for my mom, and as a kid, we would buy my mom pieces
08:48of it and give that to her for Christmas.
08:50So, it really started my love for collecting.
08:53Open up your right up there.
08:54Yeah, there we go.
08:55Turn for me.
08:56There we go.
08:57This is necessary.
08:58Oh.
08:59In a previous profession, I have dealt with hoarders.
09:02And I can see the signs.
09:04So, we're getting there.
09:05The good signs.
09:05It was his job to go in people's houses for safety codes.
09:08So, he has seen his fair share.
09:10But, I'm not hoarding garbage.
09:12I'm hoarding Christmas.
09:17Hope.
09:19My God.
09:21Isn't it great?
09:22This was all in the basement?
09:24Yeah, but doesn't it look awesome?
09:25And this is only room one of four.
09:27How did you pay for all of this?
09:29Well, I do have a job.
09:32I am a special education teacher.
09:34Grades two through four this year.
09:36This is a very popular one with my students, I will say.
09:38They love it.
09:40See?
09:41It moves.
09:44Do you see a box anywhere, Dad, that says flocked?
09:47Mmm.
09:48Oh.
09:49Here it is.
09:50Oh, there you go.
09:51Snow flocking tree.
09:53That probably has asbestos in it.
09:55You know, Dad, that any dark hole that I can crawl into
09:57to find something vintage and crispness filled with asbestos,
10:00sign me up.
10:01Asbestos.
10:02That's what I said.
10:03Asbestos.
10:06How do you pay for all of this, honey?
10:08You know, every time I look at your checking account,
10:10there's not very much in it.
10:12I got my first job at the mall when I was 15.
10:14And he's been on my account ever since,
10:16because I needed a cosigner.
10:17You know, when she gets paid, you know,
10:19I see what her check is,
10:20and then she transfers money into her savings account,
10:23which I have no control over.
10:24He can't see it.
10:25And then I don't know what's in there.
10:28You know, now I think it's time that we cut bait.
10:31I don't think it's time.
10:32We're on a 15-year streak.
10:34I say at least get to 20.
10:36Any money that I put into Vintage Christmas, Dad,
10:37I'm going to get back out of it.
10:39Yeah?
10:39I've sold a ton at my sale this past summer.
10:42And your P&L on that is how much?
10:45What's a P&L?
10:46Oh, God.
10:48Any money I make from selling parts of my collection
10:50is going to go right back into the collection.
10:52I don't see why I would put that money back into my checking account
10:56when it's only going to come back out.
10:58Oh, Dad, by the way, later this week, can I borrow your truck?
11:01I have to go pick up a chair for Kyle.
11:03It's not Christmas.
11:04It's just a chair.
11:04It's just a chair.
11:05Nothing extra.
11:06Because the last time I gave you my truck,
11:09you came home with blow molds.
11:11It was an emergency.
11:12That's not an emergency, Hope.
11:14Trust me.
11:15In your definition, I would consider that an emergency.
11:18I don't understand having so much,
11:21but she's my daughter and I love her, so...
11:24We've always been very close, like total daddy's girl.
11:31But you're sure you're just picking up a chair?
11:33My intention right now that I know about this sale
11:36is to pick up a chair and nothing else,
11:37and I need your big truck for this big chair.
11:40Okay, honey, sure.
11:41And can you also put gas in it?
11:42Because I'm low on funds.
11:43What is this?
11:46We're in the beginning of a slasher movie.
11:49I'll take a little peek.
11:50When you squint your eyes,
11:52you can see that this section is brighter.
11:54Wait, so we're going to have 200 people here,
11:56and you want them to squint?
11:57We see it, we get it.
11:59Where's the chair?
12:00I have to come home with a chair.
12:01What are you doing?
12:11I'm trying to put these bugs on a tree,
12:12but I can't find a spot.
12:14The tree's done.
12:15No, I know the tree's done, but we have bugs,
12:17and I thought I'd put more of these.
12:18And somebody touched something.
12:19I think something broke,
12:20because somebody moved something,
12:21because there's no way I would put two ornaments
12:23like this next to each other.
12:25Okay, well, no one's been here.
12:26You've been here.
12:27I didn't, I don't touch this tree.
12:29We are months, months away from the Christmas party.
12:34And sometimes this relaxes me.
12:35I know, but are you redoing the whole thing?
12:39No, I'm just redoing this.
12:40There's only about 20% left to do in the house.
12:43I thought we were done.
12:44You're going to change 20%?
12:45No, but like, we didn't do anything in the living room.
12:47I have to add some things.
12:48Because there's a new concept,
12:50a new vision that I'm having,
12:52and I have to execute it.
12:53Well, I mean, I guess it's good it's July.
12:55Here's a spot.
12:56So we don't run out of time again.
12:57You're stressing me out.
12:58I'm Dominic Joseph,
13:00and this is my husband, Matt.
13:02Dominic Joseph, sorry.
13:04Did you change your name?
13:06Hey, I'm Matt,
13:08and I live in New York with my husband, Dominic.
13:11We have been together for just over 20 years,
13:15married for 10.
13:16Matt discovered my Christmas fetish.
13:21Wait, wait, wait, back up.
13:22You can't say fetish.
13:24I'm like legal.
13:25But that's still legal.
13:27Matt discovered my Christmas obsession
13:30when he came up to visit my family for the first time.
13:34I saw all of the Christmas stuff on that trip.
13:37And you were like, wow, this is cool.
13:48It could use a little more magnolia,
13:49because when you squint your eyes,
13:51you could see that this section is brighter than that section.
13:54So that's giving the illusion that that section has lights out when it really doesn't.
13:59It's just we didn't fill this one enough.
14:01I started Christmas collecting since I was, like, seven.
14:09It started because I think my mother wouldn't let me decorate anything.
14:13So I think it was all this repressed energy.
14:16And then finally, at seven years old,
14:17I got a ladder and decorated the outside of the house.
14:20At that point, my mother realized that I might have had a skill set
14:23that she didn't have to work so hard decorating anymore.
14:26This is very bright.
14:28Why don't we just put less lights on the tree?
14:30You can't have the elegant, warm glow of a tree
14:33if you don't hide the lights.
14:35When you squint your eyes, you could see the dark spots of the tree.
14:40It's pretty dim and very warm.
14:43And then you get to this section, and it's on fire.
14:46I mean, it might as well be at a hardware store.
14:48We used to have New Year's Eve parties, and I would not like it so much
14:53because it went from, like, all the warmth of Christmas
14:56into the New Year's explosion.
14:58So we started to have a small Christmas party, like 20 people.
15:02And it just morphed into this bigger party.
15:05And it takes many months to get the decorating done.
15:09Wait, so we're going to have 200 people here,
15:12and you want them to squint?
15:13No, they don't need to squint, but when the lights come down,
15:15they'll see that it's one big, beautiful glow,
15:18not all this brightness.
15:20But if you only notice it when you squint, that's the whole point.
15:23Just, just, the squint is a test to see
15:26where it needs more magnolia and less magnolia.
15:31When decorating season is coming, if Dominic says,
15:34I'm just going to change a couple things, it'll be fine,
15:37this season will be easy, no, never.
15:40He always changes everything.
15:42But it absolutely is like therapy to me.
15:45We have so much stuff.
15:56Look, how many wreaths?
15:58One, two, three, four, five.
15:59Five times five, that's 25.
16:02Probably 40 wreaths.
16:03Well, if there's 40, why are you asking me how many?
16:05Well, I'm just trying to say.
16:06So 40 wreaths.
16:08And what are these?
16:09What's this?
16:10Do you know how many you have?
16:11Well, how many windows do we have?
16:13There's one for each window.
16:14That's not a hard one.
16:15You don't even know how much you have.
16:16I do, too.
16:17The amount of things that are downstairs is a lot more than even I realize sometimes.
16:26I think that's one of many boxes of sticks.
16:27No, this is the only box of sticks that are white.
16:30If I have to go get a box for him or if I'm looking for something, or honestly, if I'm looking for him.
16:34So if it's kind of ugly, why don't we get rid of it?
16:38Would you get rid of an ugly child?
16:40Nope.
16:41He's like sometimes three rows behind of shelves and boxes and spaces, and I forget just how much there is.
16:49Twelve boxes of vintage ornaments.
16:52I own an antique shop, and I love my collection.
16:56I mean, there's no doubt about it.
16:57Just like somebody would buy a fancy car.
17:00I know they're materialistic things, but they do bring me joy.
17:03So how many of these cosmic stars do you have?
17:07Well, two broke.
17:08So whatever it is, minus two.
17:10Okay, but maybe that's the whole point.
17:11You don't know the quantity minus two.
17:13I'm just saying, look at all this stuff.
17:16How can you not find something, something, something?
17:20If I come up with a new concept in my head, chances are I don't have it here because it's new.
17:29Just what if you had at your fingertips the entirety of your collection?
17:36Wait, is this for a last will and testament?
17:38Like, why do we need an accurate count on how many ornaments I have?
17:39No, because I think if you knew how much you had.
17:42It doesn't matter.
17:43I could have a billion dollars worth of Christmas stuff,
17:45but that's not going to make me change my mind and not make me want the two things that I want.
17:48What if you could pick the person that can come in and do it?
17:51Dominic has so much that I sometimes think he forgets what he has.
17:56My hope with the assessor is that once he sees this accounting and this list,
18:01he may realize, oh, perhaps I don't always need to be going out and getting more and more and more.
18:08If you really want to have it assessed, then I'm fine.
18:10I mean, so we're going to do it.
18:13We can do it.
18:18Oh, I'm so excited to go to this pick.
18:21It's at a really, really old, abandoned-looking type building.
18:24What are you hoping to get out of this place?
18:27Something mechanical.
18:28Something very old and moves.
18:31I just got this text from Paul, and I know him from picking paths.
18:36There's a new place that I could pick from, like across the street from his other place.
18:41I ran right as soon as I could.
18:43I don't do running.
18:45Come on.
18:46Let's go.
18:47When I pick, I'm after a certain decade of decorations,
18:50pretty much from the 50s to the early 70s.
18:53The most glitter, the most shine, the most fiberglass and other materials you probably shouldn't touch.
18:59Let's go.
19:00What the hell is this place?
19:04Whoa.
19:05Look at this place.
19:07I love it.
19:08It smells like mold.
19:10It looks like it had a roof link for a hundred years.
19:14Oh, my God.
19:15Oh, they made it.
19:17We're here.
19:18Hi, guys.
19:18Hey, how you doing?
19:19Good to see you.
19:20Thank you.
19:20Thank you, guys.
19:22This is the place you picked?
19:23Yeah, this is the place.
19:24All right.
19:25I know it's a little dirty, but...
19:26God, it smells like someone's basement in here.
19:28Oh, sometimes when I pick, it's just so much stuff to move around.
19:32I need my extra family and friends just to have a helping hand.
19:36Did you bring any, like, cloths or, like, anything?
19:40I did not.
19:41You guys didn't think to bring gloves?
19:43You just told us to show up.
19:43And we're both wearing white.
19:45Why would you wear white?
19:46If you're going to a Nick pick, it's going to be a dirty place.
19:49A Nick pick?
19:50A Nick pick.
19:51Yes.
19:51A Nick pick.
19:53We definitely didn't come prepared, but we'll do anything for a Nick.
19:57Guys, look at these things.
19:59A little tacky.
20:00I think I like it.
20:01I love extra tacky.
20:02At least it doesn't look dirty.
20:04It might be.
20:05I'm actually, it's turning my fingers black.
20:07Yes, it's a little bit of an addiction, but I think that's the way it's supposed to be.
20:10Yeah, I mean, he's St. Nick.
20:12Like, this is his whole entire life.
20:14Like, he loves this, and we're just here to support him and just, you know, be in it.
20:19Is this maybe something?
20:21Oh, I like him.
20:22Yeah?
20:22Yes, yes, yes.
20:23We're taking it home.
20:24I don't care if you think it's stained and dirty.
20:27Hey, Nick, what about this?
20:28Wow.
20:29They look like little garlands.
20:31That's cool.
20:32I have, in the past, gone through some really, really crazy, dirty places.
20:37Oh, more questionable, question mark Christmas stuff?
20:40I don't know. It looks like it got wet.
20:42The box is moist.
20:44Ow, ow, girl.
20:45Ew, what?
20:46I don't know.
20:47Ew.
20:48Oh, no.
20:48Okay.
20:50That's pretty great.
20:51Tara, you want some?
20:52No, keep that away from all the graves.
20:55Well, we're done.
20:56We're done with that.
20:58If I could get one cool thing, I will literally walk through the nastiest thing in the world,
21:02because why not?
21:03I feel like I shouldn't be going back here, but...
21:06I feel like we're in...
21:07What is this?
21:09Wait, wait, wait, I'm going to go down.
21:11Okay, this does not look safe.
21:13Oh, my goodness.
21:17Ow.
21:18Okay, I'm literally shaking right now.
21:20Look at that.
21:21Ugh.
21:21This feels like the beginning of a slasher movie.
21:24What is going on down here?
21:26What is going on down here?
21:29Look at that.
21:30Ugh.
21:31Actually, you know what?
21:32I'm going to take a little peek.
21:33I'll take a little peek.
21:35Look, watch.
21:35You don't have to step in that.
21:37Ew.
21:38There might be, like, some creepy dolls or, like, skeletons or, like...
21:41Oh, guys, no.
21:42Right?
21:43Okay, I think it's haunted.
21:45Definitely a dead body down there.
21:47Yeah, I'm good.
21:48I'm good.
21:48I'm okay.
21:49For Christmas, finally, boss looks down there.
21:50That is the Christmas stuff down there could stay.
21:52Yeah, exactly.
21:52I'm good with that.
21:53I had to have just a look,
21:55just to be sure that there was absolutely nothing down there.
21:58Whoa, whoa, whoa.
21:59Oh, my God.
22:00How did none of you see this?
22:02Look at how huge it is.
22:04What?
22:04What is it?
22:05A Santa Claus.
22:06It's so dirty, but, wow.
22:08What do you think that's worth?
22:09I'm afraid to touch it.
22:10It looks so fragile.
22:11Tyler, can I have your help?
22:12The big, strong man.
22:14Pick it up.
22:15Get it.
22:16Oh!
22:20Picked it up.
22:21What are you doing?
22:22You did not.
22:23Okay, be nice.
22:24Promise?
22:25I need to promise that you're not going to hurt Santa.
22:27Yes!
22:28Give me it!
22:28You better be nice.
22:29Holy crap.
22:30Don't throw it.
22:31Falling apart.
22:32Oh, my gosh.
22:32I don't care.
22:33Don't throw it.
22:33Little goggles.
22:35Mary, no!
22:37That's sacrilege!
22:41Wait, let me get a picture of that real quick.
22:47All good now.
22:49All right, let's go.
22:50Let's go.
22:51Let's go.
22:51I'm going to have to call my dad and use his trailer.
22:53I think the arm might fall off, too.
22:55It's bad enough its head snapped off.
23:04Hey, how are you?
23:06Elaine?
23:06Fine.
23:06Dominic.
23:07Dominic, nice to meet you.
23:09And this is Marty.
23:10Marty, what's up?
23:12Hi.
23:13Hi.
23:14Oh, my God, you're so cute.
23:15Oh.
23:16Well, welcome.
23:17Yeah, it's a lot at once, but here you are.
23:23I'm Elaine, and I am a fine arts, antiques, collectibles,
23:29and household item appraiser.
23:31Let's go downstairs.
23:32All right.
23:33So this is where all the magic takes place.
23:36Everything I create is pretty much done down here.
23:41So my husband wants you to give an assessment, account, inventory,
23:46because he insists that I have too much, but there's always room.
23:50Well, it is a little over the top, but I like over the top.
23:57What's going on?
23:57I don't know.
23:58Hi, I'm Matt.
23:59Hi, Matt.
23:59Nice to meet you.
24:00Thanks for helping us.
24:01Oh, you are welcome.
24:02I am overwhelmed.
24:05Just a little bit of stuff.
24:06How many of the nutcrackers are there?
24:08A whole bunch.
24:08The basement is probably like 2,500 square feet,
24:13and the majority of it is holiday decorations.
24:16This is one of my favorite rooms.
24:19Have you ever seen anything quite like this?
24:21I don't think so.
24:24This is another room we need inventoried with your team.
24:28Holy moly.
24:28Of counting elves.
24:29All righty, let's see.
24:39Oh, well.
24:41Holy cats.
24:43Wow.
24:44I asked to borrow my dad's truck the other day
24:46to go pick up a chair for my boyfriend, Kyle,
24:48knowing that this chair was being held at an estate sale
24:51by my friends,
24:52and also knowing that there was boxes
24:54of smelly vintage Christmas.
24:55So I knew quite literally
24:57I wasn't going to be leaving with just a chair.
25:00And I think my dad might never admit that,
25:02but he knows that too.
25:03He knew.
25:05Where did you hear about this one?
25:07My friend Lori, she does like clean outs,
25:09and she was like,
25:10hey, you want to come through and just look?
25:12So this is like literally before anyone's even been here.
25:14Well, let's start digging in.
25:18Look at this.
25:20We got one.
25:21Oh, God.
25:22Right off the bat.
25:23Oh, my God.
25:24He's so cute.
25:24It's going to go to your house.
25:26Holly is my aunt.
25:27We see it, we get it.
25:29And she's the person I call
25:30when I can't tell my mom or dad
25:32that I want to buy something.
25:33See her with her little face.
25:35Oh, the angel?
25:36Yeah, let's add her in there.
25:36I like her.
25:37You want this one?
25:37Yep.
25:38There we go.
25:39I don't know that I would call her an enabler.
25:41I don't like that word so much.
25:42I like supporter.
25:44Oh, this is what we're talking about, Hope.
25:47This is it.
25:48Oh, yeah.
25:49I haven't seen a poinsettia thing like this.
25:51Have you?
25:51I do want the trees, too,
25:53the vintage pipe cleaner trees.
25:54That's been on my list.
25:55There's definitely asbestos in that.
25:58I think for the ornaments,
25:59maybe I'll just ask how much for the lot.
26:01If you don't take them,
26:02you're going to regret it.
26:04You're so right.
26:05Take them all.
26:06That's what I say.
26:07I'm so happy you were free today.
26:08I'm her emotional shopping support aunt.
26:12How's that?
26:13Right till you see this room.
26:14Oh, yeah.
26:15And I am her financier.
26:18Here's the Christmas.
26:19Oh, my gosh.
26:19Look at it.
26:21She must have crocheted these.
26:23All of the trees.
26:24Is that a cover?
26:24Is that a wine bottle cover?
26:25It is.
26:26Oh, that's got to go on top of something.
26:28That is great.
26:28Oh, that's so cute.
26:29This reminds me of, like,
26:30the stockings that grandma knit for all of us
26:32with our names on them.
26:32Yeah.
26:32Hi, ladies.
26:34Are you finding treasures?
26:35Yes, we have found a lot.
26:37Oh.
26:37You've met my Aunt Holly, right?
26:38I have, yes.
26:39Yeah, absolutely.
26:40So I had a question for you.
26:43There's, like, a bucket or two buckets of ornaments
26:45in that back room.
26:46And then there's all of this Christmas.
26:48We were wondering if we could do, like,
26:49a lot listing or a lot sale.
26:51So I've known Hope for about three years.
26:53She's one of our best customers.
26:55She's been a friend,
26:55and she buys from us all the time.
26:58She loves to give all old things a new home
27:00and give them a new purpose.
27:01For everything on this table
27:02and the ornaments in the back.
27:04Yes, and then everything on that table,
27:06all the Christmas as well.
27:07Do you have a price in mind?
27:10No.
27:11Well, because you're a good customer,
27:13how about $600 for everything?
27:17$600 for all of it.
27:18Okay.
27:20Yeah, I think $600 will work for that,
27:22for the ornaments and these two tables.
27:23But would you be interested in everything
27:26in the basement, upstairs,
27:28and this room for $1,200?
27:29If it's Christmas-related?
27:31Yes, just the Christmas.
27:33And most of it's vintage?
27:34Yes, most of it's vintage.
27:36Would you be interested in that?
27:38What are you thinking, Hal?
27:43Do you need help?
27:45I think I'm good.
27:47I was supposed to be gone for an hour for a chair.
27:49There is no room for that.
27:51Are you guys ready for this?
27:52Yes, three, two, one.
27:58Would you be interested in everything
28:00in the basement, upstairs,
28:02and this room for $1,200?
28:04Would you be interested in that?
28:06What are you thinking, Hal?
28:08There's a lot,
28:09and there's some great stuff in here.
28:12A lot of vintage.
28:13I'll help you go through it.
28:14You wanna?
28:15Well, let me ask you this first.
28:17I don't get paid on the 12th.
28:18Okay.
28:19So I have about half of the money for that.
28:21Would you be able to
28:22front me the other half of that?
28:26Well,
28:27all right, I'll back you.
28:30We got a deal then.
28:30All right, great.
28:32I'm happy.
28:32I think you'll be pleased.
28:33I am really excited.
28:34Let me go get some boxes
28:35so we can start wrapping this up.
28:37Okay.
28:37And I appreciate you again.
28:38Perfect, thank you.
28:39Thank you.
28:40Oh, this will be great.
28:41So buying sight unseen
28:42is pretty common for me.
28:45It's just like such a rush.
28:46I got all this stuff around me.
28:47It smells great.
28:48It's such adrenaline for me.
28:50Okay, so $1,200.
28:51What did I just do?
28:52I was supposed to be gone
28:53for an hour for a chair.
28:55We haven't been here that long, have we?
28:56Where's the chair?
28:57What chair?
28:58I have to come home with a chair.
28:59We'll find a chair.
29:00$1,200 is definitely
29:02on the higher end
29:02of what I've spent.
29:04Again, I think it's one
29:04of those emergency situations
29:06where you act now
29:08or you're a sad Sally
29:10and you go home
29:11and you're like,
29:11I should have done that.
29:12And then you're wondering
29:13what was in that Christmas box
29:14that you missed out on.
29:16And I would rather not live with that
29:17and just take the money.
29:20That chair is not going with us.
29:22There is no room for that.
29:25Oh, let's take this one.
29:28You said it was a rocker.
29:29It's not a lie.
29:31I did plan on getting the chair
29:32and then I saw much room
29:34the chair would take up
29:35and then I found a different chair.
29:36So I wasn't a lie.
29:38I don't like lying.
29:39Well, I hope Kyle likes his chair.
29:41I did come home with a chair.
29:43I intended to come home
29:43with a chair.
29:44It wasn't the chair I thought of,
29:46but I came home with a chair.
29:47All good intention.
29:48Well, we should really get home
29:50and try and hide some of this.
29:51We'll face the music,
29:53but there'll be Christmas music.
29:55Yay!
29:56I don't know if I'm ready
29:57for Christmas music after this.
29:59Christmas cocktail?
30:01All right.
30:01Christmas cocktail.
30:02The warehouse started
30:16because there was an antique collector
30:17and we would run sales
30:19once a month there.
30:20And now it houses
30:21some of my larger decorations
30:23and a bunch of Christmas trees.
30:25I don't know everything
30:27that's in a warehouse.
30:28It's been years of stuff
30:29just sitting there.
30:31Oh.
30:32With a crown and everything.
30:47So whenever I go in
30:48and I do find something,
30:49it does inspire me
30:50because I'm like,
30:51oh, this is great.
30:52I remember buying this
30:5340 years ago,
30:54but now I'm getting to use it
30:56and bring it to life again.
30:58And that's really a cool feeling.
31:00There it is.
31:01Hello?
31:05Not now, not now, no.
31:07Hello?
31:10Hi.
31:10Where are you?
31:11I'm over here in the back corner.
31:14Do you need help?
31:15Um, no, I think I'm good.
31:19I'll be right out.
31:20Hold on.
31:20He can't see this.
31:21He can't see this.
31:23Wait, hold on.
31:25What are you doing?
31:26I was just, I was counting inventory.
31:30Why are you being weird?
31:31I'm not being weird.
31:32You're being weird.
31:34Can I get through here?
31:37You could.
31:39Try not to break anything.
31:41Wait, I want to come back.
31:42Wait, I want to come back.
31:51Oh, Matt, you're here for three seconds.
31:54Three seconds.
31:55It's all right.
31:56It's fine.
31:56Three seconds.
31:57I didn't break it.
31:58I didn't break anything.
31:59No.
31:59I'm just crooked.
32:00What are you doing?
32:01I am going through all the inventory.
32:07Really?
32:08Yeah.
32:09Seriously.
32:10This doesn't look like you're going through inventory.
32:12I am.
32:12One, two, three, four, five.
32:15She can easily count the trees.
32:17It's other stuff.
32:21Did you buy something?
32:23Technically, maybe.
32:25I thought we agreed that we're going to do an assessment.
32:28We're going to get an idea of what the inventory is.
32:30No, we didn't really agree.
32:32I had said if we found something, then I would go with a different concept.
32:35But if we did not find something, I'm pretty sure I said this, we would use the original.
32:40But we're not even done.
32:43So I had this incredible vision, and I knew I'd put the peacocks in a warehouse somewhere,
32:49and I had to find them.
32:51So that's why I went to the warehouse.
32:52This is the most bizarre thing.
32:55It's not that bizarre.
32:56It's wonderful.
32:57Look at how many bedazzled things.
32:59We'll call this one Mamarachi and the other one Liberace.
33:03Okay, so definitely not following the rules.
33:07Like, you don't even need to Christmas decorate with this.
33:09It's done.
33:10But, so we're done.
33:11Yes.
33:11Did you say done?
33:12It's finished.
33:13No more purchases.
33:14No more purchases.
33:15We're good.
33:15We're good.
33:16Grab the bird.
33:17Let's get Mamarachi out of the warehouse.
33:19Mamarachi and get the other Rachi.
33:20Yeah, Dad.
33:25I'm up here.
33:25Oh, okay.
33:27Hi, honey.
33:28Hi, Dad.
33:29How'd it go?
33:29Oh, it went really well.
33:30Yeah?
33:30Are you done with my truck?
33:32Yeah.
33:32Yeah?
33:33Huh?
33:33And did you get Kyle's chair?
33:35I did get Kyle's chair.
33:36Yeah?
33:38That?
33:39Yeah.
33:41Oh, jeez.
33:43I don't know why you needed my truck to get this.
33:47You're right, Dad.
33:48I didn't need your truck for this chair, but I did know I was going to the estate sale,
33:51and I figured, you know, better to have it, not need it, than need it, not have it, and
33:56I got some extra Christmas things.
33:58Yeah, I must have got a lot of extra Christmas things because my checking account says it's
34:01minus 600 bucks.
34:03Uh-huh.
34:04And I talked to your mom, and she said you didn't spend 600 bucks, you spent $1,200.
34:10Well, she's right.
34:11This is true.
34:11And Holly did front me the other $600.
34:13Oh, jeez.
34:13Hope.
34:14Okay, but look, Dad.
34:15Vintage Christmas is obviously a hot commodity right now, and because we are in September,
34:19we're getting closer to the season.
34:21Yeah.
34:21Yeah, but look at all this, honey.
34:23I, I, it's, you know.
34:26It's an investment.
34:27So, do you see the Santa will mold that I got?
34:29Yeah.
34:30Okay, you know, I paid like four bucks for him.
34:32Yeah.
34:32Let me just show you what he sells for.
34:36$145, Dad.
34:38Yeah.
34:38So, while you have access to my checking account for emergencies like this, you don't actually
34:42see the income part of this for me.
34:45Yeah, I guess I don't see your income at all.
34:47But I've actually sold this much in my account so far.
34:49$15,000.
34:52Wow.
34:53Were you expecting that?
34:54No, I guess I wasn't.
34:56See?
34:56It's fine.
34:57It's all safe.
34:58We're all good.
34:59Hope, if you're going to make that kind of profit, then we've got to get organized.
35:02We've got to get a ledger sheet.
35:04You know, what you paid, what you sold it for.
35:06And list everything in inventory.
35:08So, that way, we can have a definite profit and loss.
35:12So, a whole list of every single item that I buy and that I sell.
35:15Yes.
35:16Do people do that in real life?
35:17Yes, they do.
35:18Hope you've done great, but I think now's the time that we have to cut the checking account
35:25so you can manage your own money and you'll learn from it, even though you will bounce
35:29a few checks.
35:30But I think it'll be a good learning experience for you, honey.
35:34I don't think I need that learning experience.
35:37I don't think we're there yet.
35:41Just list everything you buy and everything you sell and then the difference of what you
35:46made on it.
35:47That's all.
35:48It's very simple.
35:48Okay, the profit.
35:49Sounds good.
35:53Love you, Pop.
35:54Love you, too, honey.
35:55I could do way worse things.
35:56I could put my money into stock markets that crash and then what do you have?
35:59Nothing.
36:00You don't have all this, that's for sure.
36:02You don't have all this, that's for sure, yeah.
36:03What do I have to show for my spending habits?
36:06All this profit.
36:07Yeah.
36:07Mm-hmm.
36:21Come on.
36:28Slow.
36:29Keep going.
36:30Keep going.
36:31Right, stop.
36:32Stop.
36:32There you go.
36:33Good.
36:34What now?
36:35A lot more.
36:36The good stuff.
36:38Nick, where do you want all of this stuff?
36:40Just anywhere it fits.
36:42Make it fit.
36:43My dad helped me with his trailer, which I'm very grateful for, and we loaded up all the
36:46stuff that I wanted to get out of there, and now we're back and my friends are ready to
36:50unload it until every last piece is out.
36:52Hopefully they stay energized to get it all out of there.
36:55Oh, wow.
36:56All right, let's focus on getting the things in the garage.
36:59I want to look in it.
37:00You don't get to look in that right now.
37:01Why?
37:01I want to look in it.
37:02Because we've spent enough time on this.
37:04Yeah, we're starving.
37:06Here.
37:06You're starving?
37:07Yeah.
37:08Here, I can take that.
37:09What's in that box?
37:09I don't know, but I'm not letting Nick look at it right now.
37:12Guys, I need help.
37:12All right.
37:13Tyler.
37:14Hey, Pete, how come you get gloves and we don't?
37:17Hey, you're already covered in grime.
37:19Mine as well.
37:19I'll take one more.
37:20Here, Mary, you get the other ones.
37:22Not my favorite gloves.
37:24Those are really cool.
37:26Jeez, Tyler.
37:27How did it get like this?
37:28Because he's messy.
37:31So it looks like this all year long until he puts everything out?
37:34Even after.
37:35Okay.
37:36It just doesn't stop.
37:37So even half this stuff doesn't come out on his display?
37:40Nope.
37:41Okay.
37:42What are you guys talking about over there?
37:43This looks like the place we were just in.
37:45Why are you buying more?
37:47Not why don't you buy more?
37:49I don't need any more.
37:50I think you're good.
37:51Does this place look like I could see the floor?
37:54I don't want to be able to walk.
37:56It's a storage room for a reason.
37:58You store stuff in it.
38:00I bestow upon you the last thing in this trailer.
38:02Yay!
38:04And now you guys could go.
38:07And I'm so happy to eat dinner in a few minutes, so let's go.
38:11Um, I might stay here.
38:13What?
38:14I want to work on stuff.
38:16I did promise them that I would go out to dinner with them,
38:18but I wouldn't even be able to eat thinking about the Santa Claus just sitting there all alone, you know?
38:23Thanks, guys.
38:24You're welcome.
38:25I gotta be here and just see it till the end.
38:28Oh my god, the prince is up and at him already.
38:40Hi.
38:41Good morning.
38:42Guess what?
38:43What's up?
38:47The elves have finished their work.
38:49What?
38:50The inventory's done.
38:51Are you ready?
38:52I'll just, just a couple samplings, right?
38:54Um, how many wreaths do you think you have?
38:5852.
39:0077.
39:02How many ornaments do you think you have?
39:05Oof.
39:075,000.
39:08Mmm, 9,700.
39:12I have that many.
39:13Yeah.
39:14How many string lights do you think you have?
39:17That work or don't work?
39:19You have 2.6 miles of string lights.
39:23You could wrap the Brooklyn Bridge back and forth and half again 2.5 times.
39:281 Indianapolis Speedway and then the elves also said it's the length of the National Mall.
39:33That's impossible.
39:35How many trees do you think you have?
39:37Yeah.
39:3840.
39:39You have to go a lot higher.
39:4160.
39:43You have 121.
39:46Right, but they don't all count because some of them are white and I don't like the white ones.
39:51Doesn't matter.
39:52It was super satisfying to see that assessor's report come through.
39:55All I was trying to do was just give you an idea of what you had.
39:59You were reluctant to let me buy them, but now look at them.
40:03Oh, it's coming together.
40:06Did it help at all?
40:07Do you feel any sense of satisfaction of having this count?
40:11Sure.
40:12Yeah.
40:13No, it made me feel better.
40:15That's so not believable.
40:18So this was truly just for me.
40:20I see that a lot is going on and that it's just the typical Dominic more is more.
40:26Well, I'm going to try to be more subtle.
40:28At the end of the day, I'm good with that.
40:30He loves Christmas and I love him.
40:32Today's the big reveal for my family and friends.
40:59I can't wait to show them.
41:01It's my family's brutally honest with me.
41:03So we're all brutally honest.
41:05So I like the opinions before the public comes.
41:08I appreciate everyone that's helped.
41:10You got to make the dream work.
41:12You got our way.
41:13Teamwork makes the dream work.
41:16Then after that, I could finally show it off to the community.
41:20Seeing other people as happy as I am about this makes it worth every last second that I do it.
41:27I think this year is just a little bit better than normal.
41:34Guys, I've been working on this for a long time.
41:36Are you guys ready for this?
41:38Yes!
41:39Yes!
41:40Woo!
41:41Five, four, three, two, one!
41:53Woo!
41:54Thank you.
41:55Good job!
41:56It's amazing!
41:57It is literally the best display I've ever seen.
42:00Miles of blow molds and lights.
42:02He actually had to cut our summer vacation short because he had to go back home and decorate,
42:08get everything out.
42:09But it looks absolutely incredible.
42:11Good job, buddy!
42:12Wow.
42:13Awesome, dude.
42:14Awesome, dude.
42:15Thank you.
42:16I am extremely proud of Nick.
42:20I think he brings joy to people's lives and reminds us of what's beautiful about Christmas.
42:25Merry Christmas, guys!
42:26Thank you!
42:27Good job!
42:28We love you!
42:29We love you!
42:30When I press that button, I feel something so special, and it makes every second that
42:36I've worked on it worthwhile.
42:47I'm happy with it.
42:48Awesome, dude.
42:49Awesome, dude.
42:50Good job, bud.
42:51I love the tree, Nick.
42:52See, I didn't think I could improve, but it did.
42:54Oh, way better than last year.
42:56I've seen better.
42:57Hey!
