00:00She was the queen of 90s daytime TV, and she lost her nipple cover while at sea.
00:08It's Watch What Happens Live with Ricky Lake and Heather Gay, now.
00:21Hey, everybody. Welcome to Watch What Happens Live.
00:24I am your host, Andy Cohen, in the Bravo Clubhouse,
00:27coming out of the final episode of our Salt Lake City Below Deck crossover.
00:31And what a doozy.
00:32Tonight, Lisa Barlow showed up an hour late to meet Heather.
00:36But I can always count on my first guest for her timely takes.
00:39Her new documentary, Big Rock Burning, is available now on Vimeo On Demand.
00:45Say hi to the executive producer and Salt Lake City superfan and my friend, Ricky Lake.
00:49Hey, Ricky. Great to see you.
00:52Love you, long time.
00:53I love you.
00:54And from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay,
00:59which premieres tonight in about 28 minutes.
01:02Please welcome Heather Gay.
01:04Heather.
01:07We have so much to talk about, and I just want to say two things.
01:11Surviving Mormonism is brilliant.
01:13You all must watch this.
01:14I am so proud of you, Heather.
01:16You put yourself out there, and it's absolutely incredible, and we're going to talk about it in a little bit.
01:21But also, Ricky Lake requested to sit next to you months ago.
01:25She begged so long ago.
01:26What do you love about Heather?
01:28She's just the real deal.
01:30You're authentic, and you're fully transparent.
01:32And for me, my husband, my beloved, grew up Mormon.
01:36And so for him, reading your books, watching you on the show, talk about how you grapple with, you know, aspects that you loved about the church and having to, like, this new life.
01:45It just resonated with him, and we've talked about it a lot, and I've always wanted to meet you, and I really admire you.
01:51I admire you as well.
01:52And I'm so, so to meet you.
01:53And Ricky's family is right here in the audience.
01:55Yeah, my son and his girlfriend, Kami, are here.
01:58They never come to my things.
01:59I know they don't.
02:00Okay, I need to get into tonight's Salt Lake City, because this was a really unusual episode.
02:06And I want to start with how the show ended, with Mary's sit-down with Meredith.
02:12What was your take on Meredith?
02:14You know, she was pretty dogmatic that she really only talked about Britney for 15 minutes on the flight and watched two movies.
02:21What's your take on seeing that?
02:23Well, I mean, watching Mary, I mean, Mary is kind of cut through the V.S. pretty quickly.
02:29Yeah.
02:29And Meredith came in so sing-songy, and Mary was just like 15 minutes, 30 minutes.
02:35It was more than that.
02:36And I just loved watching that interaction of those two friends, like, try to, like, break down what really happened on that plane.
02:42And so what do you say to Meredith's defense that if it was as bad as described, air marshals would have come?
02:50You know, it's—the truth is, like, we were nine-tenths of that first class cabin, and it was all Housewives and production, and it was, like, kind of a celebrity's no-touch zone.
03:04You know what I mean?
03:04Like, they were used to our crazy behavior.
03:06We came in loud.
03:07We stayed loud, and I think that it just kind of—I don't think that it was air marshals zip-tied behavior, but I also think that celebrity played a part in it.
03:16Um, reaction to Lisa saying in her confessional regarding you, uh, you're not my god, you're not my judge.
03:23Who the F do you think you are?
03:25I mean, I get it.
03:25I'm not her god.
03:26I'm not her judge.
03:27I just thought it was ridiculous that she was not listening to what Britney had to say about her role in it.
03:34I was trying to say, listen, Britney told me this.
03:37I witnessed this, and you are in denial.
03:40What was your reaction to the episode?
03:42I mean, I'm just Team Heather.
03:43I'm Team Heather.
03:44Like, I—I'm sorry.
03:46I—I—I—I think some of these women are super delusional.
03:49I don't know if there's, like, pills involved or what, but, like, I—I—I mean, I—I'm—I'm coming from my own experience.
03:56I mean, I just think Meredith—no, there's—there's—there's—definitely something went on there, and, um, I'm Team Heather.
04:03Um, what were the flight attendants doing, just kind of letting it be?
04:07Well, I—I mean, honestly, I was a little bit like Mary.
04:09I would—I would be asleep, and then I'd wake up.
04:11It was still going.
04:12I'd fall back asleep.
04:13I had my neck pillow.
04:14I was locked in.
04:15It was after a big trip.
04:17Yeah.
04:17Um, but I did—I know that they were checking on her and helping her and attending to her,
04:22and it was really at the end she was, as she said, a puddle of tears.
04:27Um, what was—uh, so now Jason was on the show last night.
04:31He said maybe—maybe nothing happened between the two of you.
04:36Maybe nothing happened?
04:37Yes, yes.
04:38Well, that's fine.
04:39If that's how he defines nothing, that's fine.
04:41Okay.
04:42All right.
04:42Okay.
04:44Um—
04:44No, to all the ladies that date—Jason dates.
04:48I'm just kidding.
04:48Okay.
04:49Okay.
04:49Wow.
04:50Um, Ricky, what was your reaction to throwing the unicorn into the sea?
04:54I mean, I laughed.
04:55I laughed.
04:56I thought—I mean, the unicorn was ridiculous, but, you know, was she doing that for—for show?
05:01I don't—bringing it in the first place?
05:02I don't know, but it was kind of ridiculous.
05:04I laughed.
05:04Um, well, but by the way, let me follow up on the Jason thing.
05:08Well, what did happen then?
05:09Yeah, what did happen?
05:10Well, nothing.
05:12Nothing.
05:14Nothing.
05:15I love him.
05:16We had so much fun in Australia, and it's like a weird kinship when you're in a different—I mean, it's his country.
05:22It was a different country for me, and we're doing press, and we're hanging out every day.
05:25It's his land.
05:26Right.
05:26You know, and he was my guide in many ways.
05:30Okay.
05:31Um, by the way, when you confronted Lisa—number one question for you, besides the Jason, uh, conversation.
05:39When you confronted Lisa about being behind leaks about the cast and the media, did you have proof, or did it—or was it just a buildup of circumstance?
05:48No, absolute receipts-proof timeline screenshots.
05:52Oh, my God.
05:53Oh, really?
05:54Yeah.
05:54And we discussed that on The Raft.
05:56We've discussed that at length, and, like, it's not important.
05:59What's important is that we evolve and move on, and, like, no longer try to, like, build ourselves up by taking each other down.
06:07Okay.
06:07And have you gotten to that place?
06:09Well, we'll see after the reunion.
06:10Yeah, okay.
06:11Right, right, right, right.
06:13And, by the way, the—Ricky, how did Heather do on surviving Mormonism as a host?
06:18Because she's interviewing—she—it's really compelling.
06:21Yeah, and, you know, I—I come at it from this perspective of being married to an ex-Mormon, but you—I feel like one of the key things about being a good talk show host is being a good listener, and I feel like you were there to hear their stories, but also heal yourself.
06:36It felt very authentic.
06:37It didn't feel gratuitous, and, um, I think you did an amazing job.
06:41I was in tears.
06:42We both were choked up watching it.
06:45I mean, I felt honored to, like, hear their stories and, like, just be—it did feel like it was cathartic and therapeutic for me.
06:52It almost felt, like, selfish that I was, like, going through the process with them.
06:55And they were, too.
06:56The guy from Evergreen, that—that—I mean—
06:59That was so important.
07:00So powerful.
07:01How will your family react to this?
07:04Um, I don't know, because they won't tell me.
07:06They won't?
07:07I have no contact, yeah.
07:08At all?
07:09With anybody?
07:10I have one brother that lives in Zurich, and he'll be super supportive.
07:13Right.
07:14He's left the church.
07:15Wow.
07:15After I did on the show.
07:16Yes.
07:17Over at the bar, we have a queen who's making sure our evening isn't a drag or album.
07:23Is Miss Thing on?
07:24Is available now wherever you get your music.
07:27Give it up for Drag Race Season 16 alum, Plasma.
07:31Hey, Plasma.
07:32Great to see you, Plasma.
07:34Drinking game alert.
07:36My guests won't know it, but anytime you hear anyone say this word, if you're 21 or over
07:41like Britney's unicorn, take a sip until your drinking is completely overboard.
07:47When Bronwyn tried mending her friend group by turning to prayer, Mary told her, these women
07:53don't listen to God.
07:55But tonight, since I'm joined by a fan, we are all going to listen to her Bravo gospel.
07:59It's time to find out what's your take, Ricky Lake.
08:02Ricky, do you believe, was Lisa as culpable on the plane ride as Meredith, do you believe?
08:10I think it was all Meredith on the plane, but boy, was she reprehensible on that boat.
08:14What was your, what did you make of Whitney and Bronwyn's open discussion about their marriages?
08:19See, okay, so I'm Team Heather, but I also love Whitney and Bronwyn.
08:22I think they're very authentic, very open, and I think it was a great moment for them.
08:26By the way, what was your take on that?
08:28That was, that was.
08:29Oh, my take was like, um, bad weather might have to sever.
08:35Like.
08:35Really?
08:36I just, I have never heard, I mean, they were talking about having like sex parties.
08:42Yes.
08:42Once the kids are out of the house, and as an empty nester, his kids are out of the house,
08:46I thought, when I said I wanted my kids out of the house, that's not what I had planned.
08:50Right, right.
08:51Um, I love their openness.
08:53No, that's what I'm saying.
08:54Yes.
08:54It was, it was like shocking to hear them talk so openly about, you know, unconventional marriages.
09:00Yes.
09:01Uh, what is your favorite thing about Angie and Mary's friendship?
09:05I mean, they're both such characters, and they're, they seem like they wouldn't match,
09:09but they're like Laverne and Shirley to me.
09:11They really are a very comical duo.
09:14I think they genuinely really care about each other, and I'm here for it.
09:17Do you think the women are being too hard on Lisa Barlow?
09:20Mm, not in my opinion.
09:22No, no.
09:24Um, as a super fan of both Below Deck and Salt Lake City, uh, what, what was, what was
09:30your favorite moment from the crossover?
09:32The entire thing.
09:33The entire thing was like a wet dream for me.
09:36Maybe that was, no, that's okay, that's okay.
09:39I mean, that's too graphic.
09:39But, you know, I, I love both shows, and I, I, it was highly entertaining.
09:44It did not disappoint.
09:45Start to finish.
09:46I was happy there was a conversation about the tip in the episode, and.
09:50Yeah, how did that work?
09:51Did that come out of your pocket?
09:53Um, no, everybody contributed.
09:55You all contributed.
09:56Yeah.
09:56Literally, you all paid, it wasn't production, it wasn't production.
10:00Oh, no, absolutely, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
10:02The tip is real, and we loved the service, we loved the experience.
10:06It was cheap compared to the, what we put them through.
10:09Yeah.
10:10And it was an honor to pay them the money.
10:13Did you have a favorite member of the crew besides Jason?
10:16Yeah, Mike.
10:17Mike.
10:18Mike.
10:18Yes.
10:18Mike and I, we danced, we partied.
10:21It was.
10:22Was there a member of the crew that was the most put upon by, by y'all?
10:27Um, Daisy.
10:29I like Daisy.
10:30I didn't want her to say Daisy.
10:31I'm sorry, Daisy, we put Daisy through her paces because Daisy was our go-to.
10:35Yes.
10:36As she would be.
10:37Yes, of course.
10:39All right.
10:39Thank you very much, Heather and Nikki.
10:42Coming up, we have more with these two.
10:45Here's who's stopping by later this week.
10:47Don't go anywhere.
10:51Andy, you're so shady.
10:57And see if you want to see.
11:00And what's going to see?
11:01And see.
11:02All right.
11:03Welcome back to What's It Up?
11:04I'm inside.
11:05I'm Andy Cohen.
11:05In the Bravo Clubhouse with the executive producer of Big Rock Burning.
11:09Available now on Vimeo On Demand.
11:11Ricky Lake.
11:12And we also have Salt Lake City.
11:14Heather Gay.
11:16Over at the bar.
11:16Her album, Is Miss Thing On?
11:19Is out now.
11:20Wherever you get your music, say hi to.
11:22Plasma.
11:25Freaking game reminder.
11:27Anytime you hear this word in honor of Ricky's role in Hairspray,
11:31drink it till your name isn't Tracy,
11:33but your night turns bad.
11:36Okay.
11:37Let's take questions from our fans.
11:39In studio, it's Jessica from Brooklyn.
11:41What is your question for Ricky Lake?
11:43Hi.
11:43Hi.
11:44I wanted to ask you,
11:45what was your biggest regret from your talk show days?
11:48And would you do a talk show again today in this current climate of the world?
11:52Okay, first answer, no, I would never do another talk show in this climate.
11:57Regret.
11:57I don't really have any regrets.
11:59I mean, I honestly, I feel like I showed up every day myself.
12:03I didn't compromise my integrity for the most part.
12:06And I'm proud and I'm so happy I did it back then.
12:10By the way, Ricky is not a person that lives with regrets.
12:13She keeps the train moving.
12:15It's true.
12:15And I've known you for 30-something years.
12:18Well, yeah, Milo.
12:19Milo is.
12:19Right before Milo was born.
12:21So 29 years.
12:2229 years.
12:23You have not changed.
12:24I mean, you're like this.
12:25I would say the same thing about you.
12:27Yeah.
12:27Here's Emily from Wisconsin with a virtual question for Heather Gay.
12:33Hi, guys.
12:34Love you all.
12:34Do you believe there's any truth to the claims that Brittany made about Meredith and Seth's marriage that she saw on TikTok?
12:43I mean, I think she saw TikTok.
12:46I don't think there's any.
12:47I mean, TikTok is not the most reliable.
12:48Yeah, TikTok is not the source of information I go to for, you know, validity.
12:54So I don't think there's any truth to it.
12:55I think it was, you know, a rage bait question and a rage bait TikTok.
13:01And it worked.
13:02We baited the rage.
13:03Yep.
13:04We baited the rage.
13:05Thank you, fans.
13:07I appreciate it.
13:09You know, I am curious.
13:10Wow.
13:12It's so wild because it seems like every time Bronwyn shows up, there's another accusation or admission about something that's going on with Todd.
13:22Tonight, it was that Todd was seen on a plane looking at pictures with other women.
13:29It's interesting watching Bronwyn's take it all in and her response to it.
13:34What is your take on it all?
13:36My take on it all is like, what is your relationship with Todd?
13:47Is it open marriage and I picked a girl for you to make out with and I did this?
13:51Or is it like, I love him.
13:53He's my person.
13:55I'm monogamous.
13:55I don't really understand.
13:57It feels like it flip flops a lot and swift.
13:59I mean, the truth is, I'm not that deeply invested in her relationship with Todd.
14:04I'm invested in the stories that she tells us about him and if they're true or not.
14:08Okay.
14:09All right.
14:10Interesting.
14:10And your take on, I mean, I just want to go back to it because it is interesting that Meredith's account is so different from everybody else.
14:22I guess I'm just, I'm a little stuck on that.
14:25Anything else to say about it?
14:27I mean, it's difficult because I think that a lot of us have opinions where we're used, a lot of us are used to just saying what we say happened and everyone's like, okay, yes, that's true.
14:40But she's in a group of women that are like going to push back and say, nope, we're not going to just take the easy path on this and just agree.
14:49Go along to get along.
14:51And I think maybe five years ago, we might have.
14:54But we have evolved as a group.
14:56We've evolved as friends and we love each other.
14:58We're much more honest with each other now.
15:01And like 5v1 doesn't look good for Meredith.
15:05All right.
15:06Ricky once hosted a show called You Say You're Gay, But I Want You Anyway.
15:11And I like to think she was manifesting being here tonight with Heather Gay.
15:15Years before the Real Housewives even started.
15:19And since they're together at last, it is time for a round of one, two, agree or disagree.
15:26Ladies, take these sides.
15:27I'm going to make a series of statements about Salt Lake City and count one, two, three, agree or disagree.
15:33We'll see how many you match.
15:34Heather and Lisa's friendship will never be the same after this yacht trip.
15:38One, two, agree or disagree.
15:40I disagree.
15:41Okay, good.
15:41You both do.
15:42Jared Osmond is fully leading Brittany on and has no intentions of settling down with her.
15:48One, two, agree or disagree.
15:50Okay.
15:51Angie Kay and Mary will still be friends 10 years from now.
15:54One, two, agree or disagree.
15:57Nice.
15:58We are girls.
15:58You've matched every time.
16:00You're three for three.
16:01Lisa Barlow is feeding stories to the press.
16:04One, two, agree or disagree.
16:07High body count hair is a better read than gout dick sucker.
16:11One, two, agree or disagree.
16:13I heard that right, but I agree.
16:17Oh, I love this one.
16:19BravoCon is upon us, everybody.
16:21And here's a question.
16:22Heather Gay is going to get lucky at BravoCon.
16:26One, two, agree or disagree.
16:28I agree.
16:29Yes.
16:29I agree.
16:31It's gone.
16:33It's gone.
16:33Heather Gay, do you have your eye on anybody?
16:37I think we all know who I have my eye on.
16:39Okay, yes.
16:40Deep down, Muzzy is a total softie.
16:43One, two, agree or disagree.
16:45Wait, who's Muzzy?
16:45Muzzy is Bronwyn's mom.
16:47Oh.
16:48Oh.
16:49Total softie.
16:50She's a Mormon mother.
16:52Okay.
16:52Okay.
16:53Zero softness.
16:54Lisa Barlow does live a very different life from the rest of the women.
16:59One, two, agree or disagree.
17:01Oh.
17:02You think Lisa Barlow?
17:03Well, I mean, the only big difference I can see is that, like, we live our life with our
17:09own money.
17:09One, two, agree or disagree.
17:10Oh.
17:11Oh.
17:13Okay.
17:13I, too, would rather eat my dinner around someone throwing up than a table of fighting.
17:18One, two, agree or disagree.
17:20I disagree.
17:20Wait, throwing up or think?
17:21Yeah, I don't want to.
17:22Oh.
17:22I want to be around fighting.
17:24Oh, you do?
17:25Yeah.
17:25So, what, what, disagree?
17:27No, no, no, no.
17:27We agree?
17:28Whatever.
17:28Oh, yeah, yeah, you disagree.
17:29We disagree.
17:30Yes, yes.
17:30Okay, the Katina crew is going to rip the women a new one when we see their side of things
17:35on Below Deck.
17:36One, two, agree or disagree?
17:37Oh.
17:37We disagree.
17:38They love dusting.
17:40Okay.
17:40There's always dirt, though.
17:42There's going to be dirt.
17:43There has to be.
17:44All right.
17:44After the break, we have more with these two and a special clubhouse ceremony.
17:55All right.
18:01Welcome back to What's It Happens Live.
18:03I'm Andy here with Ricky, Heather, and Plasma at the bar.
18:08Make sure you stay tuned for Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay premiering right after this.
18:15It's three episodes, and it's absolutely incredible.
18:19Were you, was it, Lisa was so late to your sit-down.
18:22Was there a, you seemed pretty calm about it, but.
18:24Yeah, I mean, I'm not a big stickler on time.
18:28Wow.
18:29I'm really not.
18:29And like, but I felt like she was sending a little bit of a message.
18:33She never really explained it.
18:36But like, yeah, that's not that big of a deal to me.
18:39We all have phones.
18:39I could watch three shows.
18:41Okay.
18:43Jordan P wants to know, Ricky, what was your reaction when Nicki Minaj name-checked you
18:47in the remix for Britney's Till the World Ends?
18:50Oh, it was very cool.
18:51Yeah.
18:51I mean, any time that my name is mentioned in a song, which happens a lot.
18:54Lizzo has a new song that she talks about me.
18:57I mean, sometimes I don't know what they mean.
18:59Okay.
