00:00And Verstappen still not in within DRS range as they crossed the line there.
00:05So Antonelli, we're leaving it to you, mate.
00:09And he's doing it, handling it very well, isn't he?
00:12With all due respect to Hülkenberg and Lawson, which is a pretty terrific scrap here.
00:16These are the two we should be concentrating on.
00:19Antonelli and Verstappen, Russell and Piastri.
00:23We're going for the next couple of laps on this one.
00:25Verstappen inching ever closer to Kimi Antonelli.
00:31231 Grand Prix for Max Verstappen.
00:34The 21st Grand Prix for Kimi Antonelli is trying to get his second podium
00:39and his best ever finish in Formula 1.
00:41If he can hang on to that P2, he would equal his best ever finish if Verstappen gets past him.
00:48And inch by inch, that Red Bull does seem to be getting that little bit closer.
00:52But going through the detection zone now is Verstappen within DRS range.
00:59And that will make a big difference to his challenge on second place here.
01:04Up the hill we go.
01:05It is 1.2 kilometers from Junsao to the breaking point at turn one.
01:10There goes the DRS for Verstappen.
01:12He's already scrubbed off four-tenths of a second by the time they get to the corner.
01:16Yeah, that DRS is critical for him now.
01:18Drag reduction system, rear wing open.
01:20Max having a little bit of a wobble.
01:23Coming through turn two there.
01:24That's allowed Antonelli to get down the road.
01:27But he's still got another dose of DRS as Verstappen.
01:31And he closes in.
01:32And that's critical.
01:34That's put him in range now.
01:35Second place is very doable for him.
01:38If you are just switching over to the Formula 1 and joining us,
01:41this has been a dramatic Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
01:44Lando Norris, the championship leader, is set for another victory.
01:49His second in a row in the space of the last two Grand Prix.
01:54And what will be his seventh win in 2025.
01:57Max Verstappen started from the pit lane and he's challenging Kimi Antonelli who started on the front row for second place by the chequered flag.
02:06Oscar Piastri made a move on Kimi Antonelli into turn one that hit the Mercedes and then calls Charles Leclerc to retire from the race.
02:13He's trying to get fourth place and salvage something from this race.
02:16Let's now watch Antonelli, 19 years of age, up against the four-time world champion Max Verstappen, who's got DRS.
02:24And he's gaining and he's gaining, but he is quite a long way back going into turn one.
02:29And Antonelli needs such a good exit from turn two.
02:33And again, Verstappen struggling.
02:35Those tyres have had enough.
02:36And struggling with the grip.
02:38But he's still in DRS.
02:39He'll be close on the way to turn four, but not close enough.
02:43And behind these two, Piastri is getting ever closer to George Russell, too.
02:47So we might see two places swap in a few moments' time at exactly the same time.
02:53Just a few car lengths between George Russell and Oscar Piastri.
02:57About three-tenths of a second.
02:59The gap is nearly ten seconds out in front between Norris and Antonelli.
03:04He's checked out and he will be checking out the winner's trophy at the end of lap 71.
03:11What a race this has been.
03:14And to be fair to Kimi Antonelli, this is super defence as well.
03:18He's got the battery Martin he can use to give him an extra charge, but he's defending so well.
03:22He is. Max looks ever closer, though, doesn't he, on this particular run through turn 12.
03:27But Antonelli keeping his head very well indeed, considering the pressure and considering his lack of experience.
03:34But, yeah, he's had a good run, hasn't he, there?
03:36Max will close in, close in.
03:38But he's a long way behind unless he does a wild dive from there.
03:42So now it's about turn four.
03:44Antonelli's very good through this turn two.
03:47Gives him a good launch all the way through three and builds a little bit of a buffer as Verstappen comes back at him again with his rear wing open.
03:55Is he close enough?
03:56No, he's not.
03:57He's just trying to distract the teenager.
03:59I think if Antonelli and Russell can build in a five, six tenth buffer between the cars behind them, by the time they get through Jun Sao, that should be able to keep them ahead.
04:12That's, I think, what they're targeting and looking at.
04:15But have they now, after using a bit of battery deployment to stay ahead on the previous lap, got enough for the final lap to maintain their positions?
04:24It's coming down to some final lap passes here as we watch Oscar Piastri towards Biko Di Pato, behind George Russell.
04:32And we watch towards Jun Sao, Max Verstappen, behind Kimi Antonelli.
04:37And the gap, well, look how that red bull is squirming away there as he tries to get the power down.
04:43But Antonelli looks a bit further ahead than he has been in previous laps.
04:46Yeah, Antonelli's got the better traction now.
04:48Max has had the best of those soft compound tyres.
04:51Antonelli's getting off the key corners faster.
04:54And Max has another look down the inside, trying to distract his rival.
04:59If Antonelli can get a good run out of here, and he has, I think Verstappen realised that might have been his last chance to try to force his rival into an error.
05:08And we are on the final lap.
05:10Lando Norris on his way, comfortably ahead.
05:14His teammate Oscar Piastri battling with George Russell.
05:17Down the back straight, still nothing doing there.
05:19Verstappen, if he's going to get past Antonelli, he's going to have to try and out-drag him to the line.
05:24Which is doable, but is very, very hard indeed.
05:29Ahead of this, Lando Norris.
05:30Oh, Antonelli wide, he ran wide there.
05:32Now that's going to make Verstappen's job an awful lot easier.
05:35Because look how the gap has now come down in this middle sector.
05:39Through Turn 10, Biko Di Pato we go.
05:42Verstappen on the tail of Antonelli.
05:43Lando Norris, meanwhile, is making his way right now towards the chequered flag.
05:49It's the seventh win in 2025 for the championship leader, who extends his lead out in front.
05:55Lando Norris wins the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
05:58But who's going to come second?
06:00Antonelli ahead of Verstappen for his best Grand Prix finish ever.
06:05Kimi Antonelli takes second place.
06:08Verstappen from the pit lane comes home to finish on the podium.
06:11The point is that this happens.
06:14Yeah, boy!
06:16P2, mate!
06:17Oh, my goodness.
06:18That was threshold.
06:20Oh, my goodness, indeed.
06:21I hope you're going to see what's made.
06:21I hope you're going to see what's made.
06:21Oh, my goodness.
06:22This happens why you're going to be made.
06:22What's made?
06:23Oh, my goodness.
06:23I hope you're going to see what's made.
