📝 Description
Remembrance Day in Saint John, New Brunswick 🇨🇦
Join me as we pause to remember and honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our freedom. This short video captures the solemn beauty of the King Square Cenotaph in Saint John, New Brunswick, a place of remembrance where the community gathers each year on November 11th to pay tribute to our heroes.
📍 About the Cenotaph:
The Saint John King Square Cenotaph stands as a powerful symbol of gratitude and remembrance. It was dedicated to those who gave their lives in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War and Afghanistan War. Surrounded by historic buildings and autumn trees, it serves as the heart of Saint John’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
In Flanders Fields
by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae (1915)
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
