This special report covers the aftermath of a car bomb explosion near Delhi's Red Fort, which killed over a dozen people and is being investigated as a terror attack. The investigation has uncovered a 'white-collar' terror module with suspected links to Jaish-e-Mohammed, involving highly educated professionals, including several doctors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from Bhutan, stated, 'All those responsible will be brought to justice'.
01:24Jodhe Ja Rahe Te hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai hai ish Shadhyantra Ki
01:33tehtak jayegi hai hai ish ke piche ke Shadhyantra Kariyo ko
01:41baksa nahi jayega
01:45all those responsible will be brought to justice
01:55especially the usage of English of all those responsible will you bought will be brought
02:08to justice for the international community that has been fairly involved ever since
02:13operation Sindhu I want to cut across to dr. Brahma Chalani dr. Brahma Chalani if you
02:17tie in all the loose ends if you connect all the dots it's rather clear that the
02:22footprint of jeshi Mohammed is evident the sheer fact that the Prime Minister
02:27last time when he said that operation Sindhu was an ongoing operation not just
02:32proverbially but drew that line in the sand saying that any act of terror is an
02:37act of war and from here on terrorists will not be differentiated from state
02:41actors does put India now in the spot on how India will react and respond let's
02:50look at the larger implications of this car explosion and I think the Prime
02:56Minister's words clearly allude to the larger implications of this blast in Delhi as
03:06you know that India is located in a very troubled neighborhood but India remains a beacon of
03:12stability of democratic vitality and economic dynamism it's the only country in South Asia that is stable and
03:22economically booming this is a testament to its strong institutions so when there's a car explosion in Delhi it attracts wide international media coverage I got calls from Australia and I got calls from Australia and I got a lot of
03:34I got calls from Australia and from Europe this morning as to what's happening in India because it makes some people wonder whether India is really that stable that is why Pakistan's ISI stage the horrific Mumbai attacks in 2008 because Mumbai is the economic capital of India and that is also the reason why why why why terrorists carry out this car explosion
04:03right you know targeting the national capital region of India clearly the busting of this terror module and then the car explosion clearly suggest that the aim was to target the national capital region of India because when you when you have an explosion a terror attack in Delhi it attracts wide international attention and the latest
04:32terror attack in Delhi it's terror attack it's a sobering reminder that the front lines of national security lie not just along India's borders with Pakistan but also within India's cities so the security agencies need to proactively save guard major cities and I think the larger message is that that this car explosion is a grim reminder first that terrorism remains a light threat to India's internal security
04:50and two that despite Operation Sindur the infrastructure of cross border terrorism remains intact in fact it reopens the question as to why we seized Operation Sindur
04:57Operation Sindur after just three days of operation when just three days of operation when just when just when the Indian military had gained the ability to do the
05:27the upper hand on the upper hand on the upper hand on the battlefield the fact is that unless you do not go after the sponsors of terrorism on a continuing basis
05:34on a continuing basis they will always look for an opening and I think even though a bigger a bigger terrorist attack has been averted still still still the implications of this car explosion are quite adverse to India's image to India's security and to India's India's
05:54India's need India's need India's need to present itself as a stable economically booming country
06:01Right Dr. Bedi I want to bring you in on the point that you know Dr. Brahmachalani made and this is a point that is echoed by many because what this blast on the suicide mission yesterday which was carried out has bought in is reminiscent of the
06:21what was witnessed very often during the UPA years one thing that this government could pat its back on repeatedly and something that the people always supported the government was on the stability that Dr. Brahmachalani was talking about a sense of security that this government provided it's been you know I don't remember when a blast like that has shook the heart of our country which is the national capital the implication though will be that much more grave.
06:28Look I see a shift in this
06:51look i see a shift in this crime pattern it's from borders now to inside the country
07:00because border issues has got contained uh defense issues defense i think they they there's a total
07:09blockade there this is an awakening of sleeper cells now within the country financing them
07:17arming them ammunitioning them and these were the masterminds we caught you see nobody from
07:22outside has claimed responsibility so far it's very unusual earlier immediately there is to claim
07:29responsibility jayshay mohammed has not claimed any responsibility we are assuming it but i think this
07:35is in clearly a shift from borders to covert secure covered cells which are hiding somewhere and also
07:44now it's not the okay no now it is educated radicalized so this is a community which
07:53which i think has now is now being radicalized you know i want to i want to pick that point that you
07:59made you know dr bedi i want i want to just you know for a moment a stress and reflect and bring
08:05you know our panel in on the point that you just made because uh you know we might give it a glib
08:10word and call it white collar terror module but there is a larger implication and connotation to
08:15it no longer are we looking at a set which is uh you know steeped in poverty uneducated exploited
08:22uh by the hubbingers of terror uh you know this has a huge connotation look at it you know these
08:28are men who've come from fairly affluent families whose families have worked very hard to put them
08:33through mbbs colleges to attain uh you know uh the kind of uh academic excellence that they have
08:40actually become doctors uh you know these were men and women who could have chosen better than to tread
08:47the path uh of sinister terrorism that they have chosen and i just want to give the list out
08:52muhammad omar uh you know dr muhammad omar who was uh the uh the uh the suicide bomber in this
09:01particular case young man 1989 doctor at alfala medical college mbbs from gmc srinagar uh he was
09:08behind the wheel of the i-20 that was laden with explosives detonated right outside uh the red fort
09:15metro station behind me adil ehmad uh then age 27 from kazigun senior resident doctor gmc anant nag
09:25ak 47 has been found in his locker arrested in saharanpur uttar pradesh uh arrested from anant nag
09:34muzammil shakil doctor at alfala uh university arrested in faridabad haryana 2900 kgs of explosives
09:44seized linked with adil rathar arrested from pulwama shahin shahid shahin shahid a woman doctor from
09:53lalba worked with alfala group uh rifle found in her car allegedly now she is she's a doctor and
10:00allegedly now she's uh heading the women wing in india of the jeshai muhammad arrested from lucknow
10:08uh ehmad muhammad deen sayyed mbbs from china arrested by gujarat ats uh you know the list will
10:16go on one of the doctors uh the brother of shahin shahid uh salman parvez dr salman parvez uh who
10:23practices in lucknow at the integrated university uh is now absconding if you put this all together
10:30dr brahma chalani even just for a moment and reflect on it you know no longer are you looking
10:35at uh maybe like a kassab who was completely illiterate uh came in from acute poverty and was
10:42used as a tool by the perpetrators of terror you're looking at well educated uh you know uh men and
10:48women coming in from affluent families who would one would think pick a better uh you know way of
10:55being and also highlighting the fact dr brahma chalani that these sleeper cells now have people like
11:03these making decisions uh you know with what we've seen yesterday you raise a very good point pretty
11:10in fact if you look at the larger international context and look at the major terror attacks
11:17right in india's own neighborhood they are a reminder that terrorism is not driven either by
11:26deprivation or by ignorance take the cafe attack on foreigners in daka in 2016 or the subsequent jihadi
11:38bombings in sri lanka on easter sunday the bombings in sri lanka with on churchgoers and hotel guests
11:48were carried out by men from wealthy families two of the eight sri lancan suicide bombers
11:56was sons of one of the country's wealthiest businessmen several of the attackers in sri lanka
12:03had the means to study abroad in fact some of them had actually gone abroad and studied abroad
12:08but i think what's very troubling about the latest car bombing are two things first the involvement of
12:18medical doctors the alleged suicide bomber in the car the car that exploded was a medical doctor
12:29the terror module that was busted earlier involved some medical doctors medical doctors are supposed to be
12:37saviors of of lives here they're turning out to be predators that is very troubling the second is the scale
12:46the scale of the carb explosion it was so powerful that number of other vehicles caught fire look at the number of people who died
12:55the number of people who are battling for life in hospital and the cache of explosives that was recovered by police
13:03nearly 2900 kilograms of explosives that's a military level struck fire it points to a coordinated plot
13:14targeting the national capital region and possibly even beyond so i think even though
13:21we may take comfort in the fact that there was this um that we that the police managed to bust this
13:30term module that this suicide bomber
13:35for whatever reason struck at a red light near the red fort and not at a more strategic target
13:44yet the implications of what these people were up to that cannot be lost it might suggest that there are other
13:55terror modules that are still that are still potentially ready to target other areas of india maybe even areas within
