00:00He, Jesus Christ, then said,

00:03A man had two sons, and the younger one said to his father,

00:08Father, give me the share of the estate that is rightfully mine.

00:12So he divided his possessions between them.

00:15A few days later, the youngest son gathered all his belongings and traveled to a distant country.

00:20And there he squandered his wealth, leading a dissolute life.

00:24When he had spent everything, a severe famine struck the entire country.

00:29and he began to experience hardship.

00:31He even put himself at the service of one of that country's citizens.

00:35who sent him to his fields to tend pigs,

00:38and he longed to satisfy his hunger with the carob pods that the pigs ate,

00:42But nobody gave him anything.

00:45When he came to his senses, he said,

00:47How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, while I am here starving to death?

00:53I'm going to leave and go back to my father's house and tell him,

00:56Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

01:00I am no longer worthy to be called your son.

01:04Treat me like one of your employees.

01:06So he got up and went to his father.

01:10While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and took pity on him.

01:15Then she ran and hugged him and kissed him tenderly.

01:19The son then told him,

01:22Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

01:25I am no longer worthy to be called your son.

01:28But the father said to his slaves,

01:31Quickly, bring a long robe, the best one,

01:35and dress him with it,

01:37and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

01:40Bring the fattened calf as well,

01:42Slaughter it, and let's eat and celebrate.

01:45Because my son was dead and came back to life.

01:48He was lost and he was found.

01:51And they began to celebrate.

01:53The older son was in the field and, upon returning,

01:57as he approached the house,

01:59He heard the sound of music and dancing,

02:01So he called one of the servants and asked what was going on.

02:06He told her,

02:07Your brother has arrived,

02:09and his father slaughtered the fattened calf

02:11because he received him back in good health.

02:13But he became angry and refused to go in.

02:18Then his father went out and began to plead with him to come in.

02:22In response, he said to his father,

02:25I worked so many years as a slave for the Lord.

02:27And I never disobeyed his orders.

02:30Even so, the Lord has not given me even a young goat once.

02:33So I can celebrate with my friends.

02:36But as soon as his son arrived,

02:39who squandered the Lord's goods on prostitutes,

02:42The Lord slaughtered the fattened calf for him.

02:46He then told her,

02:48My son, you've always been with me.

02:50And all my things are yours.

02:53But we simply had to celebrate and rejoice.

02:56Because his brother was dead and came back to life.

02:59He was lost and he was found.
