00:00Y'all, we are finally setting up the grow tent for the indoor garden this year.
00:06Hello and welcome to Kim's Cozy Corner.
00:09The day has finally come, y'all.
00:10We are working on the indoor grow space.
00:14And the first thing we got to do, y'all, is get it cleaned up.
00:28Hi, y'all.
00:29Hi, everybody.
00:30I'm back.
00:32This is my third project today, fourth project.
00:36I've lost count, but I'm trying to catch up, y'all.
00:40I've been gone for four weeks, mostly four weeks.
00:44And I've been home just on the weekends.
00:46And I'm trying to just manage and stay afloat.
00:49But, y'all, we are finally ready to work on the indoor grow space.
00:53But the first thing I got to do, y'all, is clean it up.
00:56Y'all, I've just let this space get away from me.
00:59I got seeds everywhere.
01:00I started growing some transplants.
01:03And I've kind of just forgot about them.
01:05So before I can start filling this thing up with some goodies, we got to clean it up first.
01:11Let me show you just how bad it is.
01:14And y'all, don't talk about me.
01:16Don't talk about me.
01:16I've been busy.
01:17I've been a little busy outside and traveling and weddings and all that kind of stuff.
01:23So let me just show you just how bad it is.
01:26And then we'll start working on it.
01:28All right.
01:28I guess there's no better place to start than right here.
01:33So this table right here, y'all, this is where I'm supposed to work.
01:38I don't work at this table at all anymore because it's full of stuff.
01:42Here's my let pot seed starting station that, yeah, I'm letting it get away from me, y'all.
01:50I'm letting it get away from me.
01:51But over the next few days, y'all, we'll get these transplanted in.
01:55And I got pictures on the table.
01:58I got seeds everywhere, y'all.
02:01I got seeds all right there.
02:06And seeds right here, y'all.
02:08And seeds down there on the floor.
02:11But y'all, I'm not getting ready to work on seeds.
02:13That's not what I'm getting ready to work on.
02:15I'm going to work on this stuff on this other side of the camera.
02:19My shelf is a mess.
02:22You see my shelf right here?
02:23It's completely a mess.
02:25I just left it.
02:27The season ended, and I said goodbye, and I just left the mess wherever it is.
02:33And we'll get all of this cleaned up as well.
02:35But y'all, we're here to focus on the indoor grow tent.
02:39Let me show you.
02:40All right.
02:40I guess the first thing I need to do is turn on some lights.
02:47Oh, we don't need that one.
02:48Let's find something else to turn on.
02:52Okay, that's better.
02:53Let's get this stuff raised up and out of the way.
03:03I got stuff everywhere, y'all.
03:05I know better than this.
03:07I know a lot better than this, y'all.
03:09I need a little more light over here.
03:16Oh, we can turn this one on.
03:19There we go.
03:21Now we got some light in here, but you can't see me.
03:24All right.
03:25Let's start by looking at the floor.
03:27I still got leaves in there from where I was growing last winter.
03:35Y'all, it's a mess.
03:37But we got to clean it up so we can start putting stuff in here.
03:42I guess one of the first things that I need to do is talk about my grow space.
03:48I am now using an 8x4 grow tent.
03:53It's from ViviSun and I'm not an affiliate or anything like that, but it's an 8x4 grow tent or 4x8, whichever number you put first.
04:03But it's 8 feet long and it's only 4 feet wide.
04:08It has openings in the back and openings in the front.
04:12It's a completely blackout tent.
04:15So if I close it all up, there's no light coming out of the tent.
04:20If you're interested in this tent, I'll have links.
04:23I got it off of Amazon.
04:25But in this space, y'all, I grow food all winter long.
04:28If you're new to my channel, you may not know, but I grow all of my own food.
04:34I have an outdoor grow space and, y'all, I live in the suburbs.
04:38I don't have a farm.
04:39I don't have a homestead.
04:41I live in the suburbs and I got a little garden tucked in next to my garage outside.
04:48But in the winter, I grow inside in this space.
04:52Last year, I upgraded to this tent from a 5x5 grow tent.
04:58And the way this tent is made, it is made for small spaces like attics and that kind of stuff.
05:04It's very low from a top standpoint.
05:07Most grow spaces or grow tents are like 8 feet tall.
05:11My ceiling isn't even 8 feet tall.
05:13So finding this nice little compact grow tent has done wonders for me for my winter garden.
05:20And so in this space, I will have links to all the different lights and everything that I use.
05:25I will show them to you.
05:26But I have two shelving units.
05:29I got one behind me here.
05:31And on that shelving unit and the one next to me here, that's where I start all of my young seedlings.
05:38So I grow everything from seeds.
05:41So I start with seeds.
05:43I turn it into young seedlings and transplants.
05:46And then I put them in my garden.
05:48And I am saving tons of money doing that.
05:51I will also have in here two green stalks.
05:55I've been growing in green stalks in my indoor grow space now for years.
06:00I can't even tell you how many years.
06:01I'll have to go count it up.
06:03And so we will be growing in green stalks in this space here.
06:06We'll have a spinner.
06:08So that we're ultimate spinners.
06:10So we'll spin them around so they'll get good light on all sides.
06:14And we will be growing a lot of different things.
06:17And I'm hoping you'll come back and grow with me this year.
06:21Now, I have a ton of LED lights.
06:24Many different sizes and varieties.
06:27I also have fluorescent lights in here.
06:29So let me show you the lights.
06:30And then we're going to clean up.
06:31So over here, I have atrium lights.
06:35Atrium.
06:36Yeah, atrium lighting.
06:38These will cover about a two by two foot space.
06:42And that's all.
06:44And I have four.
06:46Yes, I have four of them in here as well.
06:48I have them on pulley systems.
06:51So I can raise and lower them and angle them to whatever position I need them to be in.
06:58And so lots of pulley systems in here.
07:02So I have four lights like that.
07:05I also have this super high power light right here.
07:09Now, this is a ViviSun light.
07:11And I think it covers a four foot by four foot space.
07:15I believe.
07:15I don't remember.

07:20I also have LED lights right here.
07:23So I have one, two, three rows of LED lights.
07:31Or excuse me, fluorescent lights.
07:34I don't remember 10,000K, something like that.
07:388,000K lights in this space right here.
07:41And I typically only turn these things on if I have something on the shelves here.
07:47Because the light that I'm using on this side over here might not angle just right for the stuff growing here.
07:53And you don't need LED lights to grow food, depending on what you're trying to grow.
07:59Depending on what you're growing, you can use LED lights.
08:02You can use grow lights.
08:04You can use fluorescent light.
08:06There are a lot of different options.
08:08So I have several of those.
08:10And this is a fluorescent light with a grow light inside of it.
08:15Now, over here, this is an LED light.
08:18But it looks like fluorescent tubes.
08:20But it really isn't.
08:21This is an LED light.
08:23And I have it on pulley systems as well.
08:26So I can raise and lower it and do whatever I need to do with it as well.
08:30But that's this light right here.
08:32And then, y'all, I got some basic stuff too.
08:34You don't have to get fancy, y'all.
08:38This little shop light right here, I think I paid like $10 for this little light.
08:44I can't even pull it around so you can see it.
08:47So this light right here, y'all, I went to like Home Depot or Lowe's or somewhere like that.
08:53And I got this little shop light cover.
08:55But I put an LED grow light bulb inside of it.
09:00So if you only have one plant, this can like angle down on that one plant.
09:05So you can make sure you get full coverage for that one plant.
09:08Y'all, I got a little bit of everything.
09:12I got a little bit of everything, y'all.
09:15And so then I got this grow light here.
09:17This is another LED grow light.
09:19This one's super powerful and it gets super hot.
09:24It's an 86 watt, 3000K, whatever all of that means.
09:29But y'all, this one heats up.
09:32It really, really heats up.
09:34And since I'm growing indoors,
09:36I don't have the natural wind movement.
09:41And you need that natural wind movement for a couple of different things.
09:45One, you don't want to start getting fungus growth and that kind of stuff, right?
09:50If the air is not moving,
09:53you can start having more spores and things of that nature growing.
09:57You also will have very weak plants.
10:00The more air movement you have,
10:02and see, I just have a little fan right here.
10:04And I have a fan or two on the other side as well,
10:07but they just clip right to the shoving unit.
10:10And then it rotates back and forth to mimic wind movement.
10:15And that's really all I have in here.
10:18So there'll be two green stalks for now.
10:21And one will be four tier.
10:22And those will be my overwintered peppers.
10:26And in the empty spots,
10:28we'll put something else in there with them.
10:30And then I'll have a three tier,
10:31which is behind me here.
10:33And that will put on the other space.
10:36But today,
10:37all we're going to concentrate on y'all is cleaning it up.
10:42Cause y'all it's,
10:43it's quite messy and it's quite embarrassing.
10:45So let's start cleaning.
10:47That's what we're going to do.
10:48We are going to start cleaning.
10:50Let me get my head bangers out the way.
10:52So I use these cut up two by fours to get my,
11:01to get my green stalks up off the floor so that I can make sure that I can water them
11:10without getting everything wet.
11:12So that's what the two by fours are for.
11:14I have them cut just big enough to fit my ultimate spinner.
11:22And then I use the ultimate spinner to spin it around and make sure that they're getting
11:29plenty of lights no matter what pocket and what I'm growing.
11:41There are people who believe that this grow tent is super expensive,
11:46but I mean,
11:47it's really not.
11:49It's a couple hundred bucks y'all.
11:50That's it for this grow space.
11:53And I can keep everything contained to one area.
12:00I can close it up.
12:05So everything is not all exposed.
12:08I like my grow tent.
12:16There is a waterproof floor in here and I don't believe I have any holes in it yet.
12:36But I wouldn't be surprised if I did.
12:46All right, let's start with this big pile and then we'll keep moving.
13:03Now I got my allergies all riled up.
13:16I guess y'all already know that I'm not going to get it all out.
13:30I'm just going to clean up as best I can right here in the front.
13:34Because I'm not taking these shelves out this year.
13:37We'll take them out next year.
13:38There are a lot of openings on this tent so that you can route all of your cords
13:50and all that kind of stuff into the tent.
13:52You're not having to run it on top.
13:54You can run it behind things like this right here.
13:58You see,
13:58last year I had some folks say,
14:01oh,
14:01you're spending all that money on electricity.
14:04Well,
14:05when I'm growing my young seedlings,
14:10I am spending more money than I normally would,
14:13right?
14:14But it's still cheaper than going to the grocery store.
14:17Have y'all been to the grocery store lately?
14:21But I only turn on the lights I need.
14:24So if I am only growing in the green stalk,
14:27the green stalk is the only thing that's going to have lights on.
14:32So you don't just turn everything on to have it on,
14:34right?
14:35So in past years,
14:37I've grown potatoes,
14:39carrots,
14:41tomatoes,
14:42peppers,
14:45all kinds of lettuce.
14:48Oh,
14:48y'all guess what?
14:50This past year,
14:51I started some dwarf tomato plants in my indoor grow space.
14:55Do y'all know?
14:55I just got the last tomatoes off of those plants outdoors.
15:00What a week ago,
15:01two weeks ago.
15:02And so they grew in here from what,
15:05November to October.
15:07So like 11 months growing tomatoes on the same six plants.
15:12Well,
15:12not six.
15:13I think a couple of them didn't make it,
15:14but you know what I'm saying,
15:16right?
15:17Started them in here and move them outdoors when the weather said I'm ready.
15:24Kind of gives you a jump start on the season,
15:27if you know what I mean.
15:28And that's why I overwinter my peppers.
15:32The first time I did it,
15:33I was just trying to overwinter,
15:35just trying things out.
15:36Wasn't quite sure what was going to happen,
15:38but I said,
15:39Hey,
15:39let's give it a try.
15:41And those things started producing peppers.
15:45So I actually had fresh peppers in the winter from in this grow space.
15:52Y'all,
15:55you never know until you try.
15:57So let me stop talking and let me try to get this place cleaned up.
16:01And of course,
16:02I'll bring you back and show you how I did.
16:04And it's not going to be perfect.
16:11Now,
16:12y'all know,
16:12I'm just being lazy.
16:13I got a shorter broom.
16:15I don't need this big old broom,
16:16but I'm too lazy to go upstairs and get it.
16:41Okay.
16:43This floor is as clean as it's going to get.
16:45It's time for me to put the wood back.
16:48And no,
16:48I didn't clean the wood up.
16:50Should I have?
16:51Absolutely.
16:51Did I?
16:52Oh,
16:52absolutely not.
16:54I didn't do that.
16:56Cause there's all kinds of trash and stuff on the wood too.
17:01Which should be obvious,
17:03right?
17:03So when you're dealing with a green stock,
17:16you have to get it up high enough to water.
17:20Where's my green stock?
17:22So here's my ultimate spinner right here.
17:25So here's my ultimate spinner for my green stock.
17:29I'm going to put the holes on it.
17:36So when I got to make sure I got these lined up properly too,
17:42but when you water your green stock from the top,
17:47the water comes down through these holes and it'll come out this tube right here.
17:53Well,
17:53I need to make sure I got something that catches the water because if you water too much,
17:59right,
18:00it's going to come out the tube.
18:01So when I'm indoors with my green stocks,
18:03I always water much slower than I do when I'm outside.
18:07If I'm outside,
18:08I just put the holes in the top and I just flush the thing and let it run like crazy.
18:13But indoors,
18:14I have to be more careful.
18:16And so I have to water a lot slower and try to make sure that I don't overfill it.
18:21But if I do,
18:22I have this right here to catch if I overfill it.
18:27So for both of the green stocks,
18:29I will be doing this.
18:34So I got this one here.
18:36This one I'm going to set up from the bottom up and then,
18:40or this one,
18:41one,
18:41one or the other,
18:41I don't know.
18:42And then for the other one,
18:44it's my overwintered peppers,
18:46same type deal.
18:48I want to make sure that I put that hose into something to catch it.
18:55Now,
18:55if it fills up,
18:57it gets done running.
18:58I slide this out,
19:00empty it,
19:01and I can put it back in.
19:03At least that's the plan.
19:05That's what I'm going for.

19:36But let's just put one on here.
19:38So you kind of get the ideal of what I'm going to do.
19:41But it's going to sit in here just like this.
19:44My other one,
19:45I don't have the ultimate spinner over here yet,
19:48but the other one will be over here on its own ultimate spinner right here.
19:53And these will live in harmony with one another for about four or five months.
20:00So I also grow in pots.
20:02I don't really have a good pot in here to show you right now,
20:08but pots.
20:10I also have this Vigo garden herb planter that I'll be growing in as well.
20:17And so that'll probably be on one of the shelves or something like that,
20:20or on the floor or something,
20:22because I need to make sure that it gets lighting.
20:24And I also have a little bitty one,
20:27which is a self-watering mini planter.
20:31As well from Vigo garden.
20:33I never even opened it up.
20:34I bought something from Vigo garden.
20:36And at the time they were giving these away free.
20:40So, so we will have a seven gallon plastic grow pot in here.
20:46That's probably going to be it.
20:47I'm going to try to utilize my green stalks as much as possible
20:51so that I don't over clutter the space.
20:55And I think that's it.
20:57So I got everything wiped down.
20:59I told you about everything in here.
21:02And if you are looking to buy one,
21:04don't forget to get your pulley systems for your lights.
21:07The pulley systems is what makes the difference.
21:10The light will bounce off of this.
21:14I don't know,
21:15whatever this shiny paper is,
21:17right?
21:17It's going to help with lighting,
21:19but you still need to raise and lower your lights
21:22so that they're as close or as far away from the plants as they need to be
21:27in order to be successful in your indoor growth space.
