Lithuanian Foreign Minister Hails Taiwan's Deepening Ties With Europe

Speaking at an event in the US, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys praised economic cooperation between Taiwan and the European Union and spoke of the dangers that Russia and China pose to global stability and security.

00:00Lithuania's foreign minister has underlined Taiwan's deepening ties with the European Union.

00:05He made these remarks at an event held by U.S. think tank, the Hudson Institute.

00:09We have good exchange in different areas, but we have to build strategic partnership.

00:15We are absolutely connected by the global security and by cooperation and intense partnership by Russia and China.

00:23Boudry's added that any conflict between Europe and Russia would have consequences for the Indo-Pacific region and vice versa.

00:31He also praised ongoing economic cooperation between Taiwan and Lithuania, especially in key strategic sectors.

00:38The two countries have strengthened ties since 2021 when Lithuania opened a Taiwan trade office using Taiwanese in the name instead of Taipei.

00:46This comes amid deepening ties between Taiwan and several European nations, just days after Vice President Bi Kim Hsiao spoke in Belgium

00:54and while former President Tsai Ing-wen attends the Berlin Freedom Conference.
