02:22we're the most competitive yeah oh i love the fighting talk brilliant now what's the first
02:27thing you need before i set you off money mm-hmm reds who wants the cash me please right

02:41thank you so that means michelle you get the challenge sarah thank you what's the final thing
02:48you need two fabulous experts waiting patiently for you so off you go best of luck and have fun
02:56they've got a great competitive spirit but what are they looking for in an expert
03:00somebody who's knowledgeable somebody will keep us in line someone who lets us be the boss and a
03:06really good negotiator for their bonus bar and a sense of humor i hope i've got all three for the
03:13reds it's richard madley how are you surprise oh and for the blues it's izzy barma how are you guys
03:22right team's time to open those challenges and i think some containing red that's got to be a lucky
03:28color for us doesn't it so it could be a bit of porcelain pottery an item containing blue oh blue
03:35for blue team excellent go blue team make it snappy teams your shopping starts now
03:42all right time's ticking let's go we got this they're off we're shopping clock's on 60 minutes
03:49and already the blues are talking tactics so we had a plan to get to really cheap
03:55items yes good i like this plan and then expand and spend a lot of time on the big spin okay well
04:03izzy seems happy with that over with the reds michelle seems something red from my challenge
04:09that's quite nice yeah drawn by the color what does it say on the label there
04:13opaline uh-huh glass bars possibly made in italy 50 pounds no i think that's one i'll possibly pass on
04:23richard's not keen meanwhile the blues have spotted something that could meet their challenge
04:29they look like they're probably sapphires should we get it out should we ask the dealer for a key and
04:34have a closer look and have a look yeah let's do that whilst the blues wait for the key is it time
04:40for tea an enamel teapot of extraordinary proportions that's actually really nice yeah that's really
04:47quirky isn't it yeah it is priced at 55 pounds now what do you think it's something like that would
04:55make i'd want to fight for about 30 pounds yeah yeah i'm hoping to make 10 or 15 pounds on it but
05:00hey there it is yeah we can look it doesn't cost nothing to look the pricey teapots a no back to
05:07the blues who are taking a closer look at a ring buy it on see if it fits it's a nice classic style
05:13isn't it it is sort of bluestones diamonds sapphires particularly diamonds they are people do like them
05:18it's a lot at 159 yeah yeah what kind of money would that search auction maybe 60 to 80 and on a good
05:25day if two people want it you might get into three figures but we are quite a long way off but
05:30what is the best price on it i think on this we could go 130 you wouldn't go 100 i don't think
05:36they'd go 100 i know bad burner good try sarah now once richard spotted it's actually got a nice
05:43old look about it yeah that is true it's easy to ignore it but often these are the little treasures in
05:52these on these days things that have been covered up or they're lurking beneath why don't we just take the
05:57pieces off yeah let's well let's have a look at it oh there's a ticket oh look at that here is a
06:05ticket it's a handmade bench and it's 80 pounds hmm i'd want to be buying that for you for about 40 pounds
06:16to try and make you a 20 pound profit yeah so thanks very much we'll just put it back again
06:22so while the reds keep searching the blues have found this the coat rack ah okay so 120 pounds
06:32it's not old it's a modern piece in an older style but yeah it's certainly got a good look to
06:38it it's a useful item what do you like about it pete just its chunkiness the heft to it
06:45what do you think it's okay would you have it in your house no no probably not you knew sarah was
06:54going to say no yeah that's why you like it would i mean it's 120 pounds yeah it's a lot of money
07:00it is a lot of money yeah yeah should we ask the best price no no okay that's a definite no okay
07:05that's definite let's wonder if it doesn't hook you in move on these look colorful richard it's a group
07:13here of three persian enamel dishes and bowls you know we had to find something with red on it if
07:22you look hard on this persian enamel dish there are flashes of red aren't there yeah and on this shaped
07:29oval dish and again on this bowl again tiny little red flower heads the ticketed price for all three
07:3925 pounds i'm not sure when it's red enough orchard you know we've got to satisfy the challenge
07:47yes the words are an item containing red it doesn't have to be hold red i don't know if i like them
07:54enough mm-hmm okay would could we come back to them i'll go off and just find out if they could be
08:01bought for 20 pounds and if they can be i'll ask them to put them on hold for us so we've got them on our
08:06list yeah we could come back later on happy with that yes yes okay i'm not sure they're keen richard
08:12over with the blues something's caught pizza rather handsome cat do you have cats we used to we had
08:20for many years oh he's nice have a look have a look he's got handsome he's nice he's got this crackle
08:28glaze on i agree he's nice people love cats yeah yeah true good size what's the price 48 pounds
08:36on the ticket well why don't we ask about price and just see because then we know where we're at yes
08:40yeah okay yeah that's us a dealer okay whilst the blues get a price for the cat the reds have spotted
08:48something unusual oh the red rolling pin yeah indeed well i i rather like that sort of uh type of decoration
08:57these were made in a nail see outside of of bristol these were made in the 19th century uh and in fact
09:04this is quite old then yeah yeah indeed are they just a decorative item or would they well no they
09:10were actually used practically they could have been used in the kitchen for for rolling out pastry and
09:16and they were very popular yeah yeah 10 20 years ago i'm not quite so sure today i can't see a price on
09:24it um 60 pounds let's say it's marked at 60 we could get some discount on it but i think it'll if you
09:30have to have a lot of a discount to get a profit yeah we would okay let's go okay right okay move on
09:36very decisive michelle now what's the news on the cat ticket price 48 um i think i can definitely do
09:4340 on that absolute bottom price what were you hoping for i was hoping it might start with a
09:50two two i can i can give them a real yeah yeah yeah thank you very much the cat's not in the bag yet
09:59and from cats to hats there is indeed a red interior in this 19th century bucket
10:07made from a georgian hat box okay it looks like a very posh bucket very posh isn't it it's priced at
10:1580 pounds so i happen to know that the stall holder has said that he would discount anything on this
10:21stand by 30 percent so therefore with an 80 pound ticket on it he's knocking off 24 pounds okay i think
10:30that's okay come on here anything anything read through here let's go have a look so while they
10:36keep browsing the blues are sticking with their animal theme what about this one oh i see where you're
10:43going blue tail containing blue and it's red red and blue for bargain yeah absolutely i just think
10:50he's cute yeah yeah i think he's very charming bit of art glass to glass paperwork yeah but it's nice
10:58paperweights went through a phase of being extremely popular so they're not always sort of the round ones
11:02you think of you can get them modeled as animals but nowadays i mean you could have it on a desk but i
11:07think someone would just have it as a decorative object perhaps someone who loves bunny rabbits yeah
11:12what's the price so it says 10. okay we're making you work today neil you are so right
11:18would there be anything you could do for us on that one please i'll tell you what as is you yes i'll go
11:24nine oh yeah it's also not a lot of money here 10 pounds we wanted we wanted we wanted two cheap items
11:31so he ticks that box yeah he does yeah i think there might be a small profit on a bad day it's five to
11:3710 but on a good day 10 to 15 10 to 20 yeah we'll take the rest shall we let's take the risk thank you
11:43very much thank you thank you thank you thank you well done blues 15 minutes into your shop and that's
11:51your first item bought and it ticks off my challenge of something containing blue now adele seems taken by
11:58some silver cool little dishes there yes they're really decorative yes really yeah really sweet
12:06very pretty yeah you were drawn to i could tell yes straight away i really like them i think they're
12:11really really pretty yes work that's gone into them with your reaction so far i feel i've got to go and
12:18get the cabinet open while richard finds the key sarah has spotted something colorful oh there'll be
12:25rosenthal the rosenthal design they used to be collectible nowadays not so much auction you sort
12:31of find that you can have a set of them and they don't do fantastically well but they're very pretty
12:35and decorative but how much are they 15 pounds for each of them i'd imagine it's it's going to be
12:43around that at auction in terms of its value yeah okay nice they've got the original box yeah keep
12:49looking meanwhile the reds are weighing up those silver dishes are they heavy not very heavy no i
12:55thought oh you thought they'd be heavier than you yes indeed well they are silver they're solid silver
13:01at 68 pounds before we negotiate and that's at 40. you liked the little one more didn't you yeah i just
13:08thought he was yeah yeah indeed yeah okay but would you like to find out what they could be yes yeah time
13:13to get neil in this one's 68 i could do you 61 on that and then the smaller one is 40 we go 36 on that
13:21does 36 work for you 36 isn't an increment in the auction room so he'd be going 32 35 38 so 36 would be
13:30so we would need the extra pound i know it's a i'm splitting hairs yeah go on in 35 done thank you
13:37yeah so so do you think there's there's a bit more of a profit in the 35 pound one yes yes that is
13:43better value um yeah it's right at the top i think we have to go for that one i could tell you right
13:48to as soon as i walked past that kind of it made you smile didn't you all of a sudden yeah okay should
13:54you buy it yes yes thank you very much neil thank you we're going to have the little one 35 pounds so
14:00brilliant well done reds you got there in the end both teams now have one item each but with half
14:07their time gone they need to pick up the pace was sarah spotted for the blues it says it's a welsh
14:14fireside stall i think so you can get two bums on there really can you couldn't get two of mine on
14:20there well you might be facing away right come on we're going to test this you and me right i'll
14:28have the big end okay i'll perch myself this end there we are oh i think we could actually yeah we can
14:34both put on not like comfy though i've got the lumpy no i think it's a bench for one yeah but it's
14:40very nice so how much is this one 88 right let's see right let's ask yep while izzy looks for neil
14:49the reds have headed outside oh look at the crowns what do you think i do like them and i love that
14:55rusted rustic look don't you yeah with greens i think they're splendid i do think they're splendid
15:00they would be of relatively recent manufacture i love the fact that there's three of them there
15:06yeah i'm hoping we we might get more than one yes yeah aren't you yes yeah i've got no idea how much
15:14they are no there's no price on them there's no you know we're looking to spend 75 pounds should we
15:20actually go and find out find out yeah yeah while the reds get a price for the crowns
15:25what's the news on the 88 pound bench yeah i could go down to 79 on that one would you come down to 75
15:3575 yeah go on 75 twisting my arm there but 75. we can think about it yeah okay well we know it's here
15:42we're nice for you for 75. thank you yep okay thank you thank you it's another maybe back to the reds
15:50and their crowns they're 55 pounds each okay that's the best price today if the the best we could we
15:58could probably take 10 pounds off you today so 40 45. and what if we bought two of them we could take
16:06another five pounds off the two so it would be 85 for the two what are you thinking i really like i
16:11really like them yeah could you come down a little bit more that is the price i'm afraid yeah the two
16:17at 85 pounds for the pair one each yeah yes they're buying something that you both like is that in real
16:23yes yes yes yes so should we say that they're sold a deal yeah thank you very much thank you very much
16:29indeed good job reds that's your big spend sorted 85 pounds for the two rustic crowns
16:37just 15 minutes left and blues you've only bought one item are you worried izzy the shot started really
16:44well and we all loved the bunny but it's gone downhill since then and we haven't really seen
16:49anything that pete and sarah love i think we might be cutting it to the wire and end up with two hurried
16:54purchases at the end so while izzy cracks the whip the reds are focusing on their challenge an item
17:01containing red well that particular color is referred to as cranberry so cranberry glass was introduced in
17:09the 19th century it's just a nice term for red glass can you can you just tell me from here how much
17:17of ours is yeah um first quality and it's got nd 30 pound that's either no damage or no discount 30
17:26pounds feeling that hmm but where however you're i can see you're just thinking yeah it's very decorative
17:33i think that the design is really pretty as well and of course we cannot forget our three persian enamel
17:40dishes so we've got it we've got a shopping list we've got 15 minutes should we go and look at one
17:45other item to add to this and then you just choose yeah easy as that yeah the reds have a plan
17:52now whatever happened to that glazed cat so are you able to find out the best price and very
17:59generously that she said she'll do it for you for 25 oh what do you reckon is he should we go for it
18:04i like it i like it 25 that's a bargain let's do it yeah let's do it excellent thank you thank you
18:12thank you cheers guys thank you very much thank you awesome great work blues the ceramic cat for 25
18:18pounds is a perfect second buy well you came here to get a bargain and i think that might be our bargain
18:24yeah brilliant just your big spend left to find are you thinking the bench i'm thinking the bench let's
18:30go and see okay you only have eight minutes left teams now reds what have you got there it's almost
18:38like one of those sort of whirly gigs isn't it yeah over legal gun a willy gu gun what a legal gun
18:45a vintage folk art pull along it's 25 pounds if we got it for 20 everything's going to cost 20 do you
18:51like that i do like that do you like that do you like that do you like the whirly gig gun i do like
18:56the world legal of course we can we can do anything we want with i'm sure i don't know we've got to find
19:03out here let's have a look if it works oh the word legal gun okay can you see you yeah well go go on
19:12well you can do the pulling bit you can't do the whirly bit yeah i do like it but if it's not working
19:18yeah leave it then the blues are back at the bench but are they going to buy it
19:24we need to spend 75 it's made in wales i think we should do it let's do it yeah definitely yes thank you
19:32thank you very much thank you guys thank you thank you very much thank you yay we've done it
19:39well done blues that's your final item sorted and your big spin ticked off 75 pounds for the wooden
19:45bench happy yeah happy brilliant time thank you should we go and celebrate yes yeah definitely
19:54with only five minutes left the reds are revisiting their back burner items
19:58so what's it to be the red vase or the persian dishes these these in unison a decision at last
20:08the three persian dishes for 20 pounds take off my challenge nice work
20:15right team shopping is over let's put them down yeah let's go and put the kettle on
20:19a cup of tea cup of tea sounds good let's remind ourselves what the red team bought
20:25their first buy was the ornate silver dish for 35 pounds
20:31next they bought the two rustic crowns for 85 pounds which was their big spend
20:38and they finished their shop with my challenge the persian dishes for 20 pounds
20:42reds you were a pair of welsh dragons on fire today weren't you yes we were now richard you
20:50were not the boss today no they knew what they wanted i just followed how was it did you have
20:55fun we had a fabulous time which has got so so knowledgeable it was fab let's talk favorites
21:00what was your favorite item adele my favorite items was the silver trinket dish right i thought
21:05it was beautiful okay michelle what about you what was your favorite the crowns are my favorite right
21:10okay now that was a big spend item it was yeah okay so do you think they will make the most profit
21:15at auction i don't think so i think the silver trinket dish will make the biggest profit okay adele
21:21what do you think will make the biggest profit i think the silver dish as well so tell me how much
21:26did you spend in total we spent 140 pounds so you've left richard 160 pounds if you hand it over
21:34quite a lot of cash there richard there is indeed any thoughts on what you do with it
21:38i'm going to buy something that isn't quite what it appears on first sight oh i'm intrigued ladies
21:47okay so while richard goes off to buy his mysterious bonus buy let's remind ourselves what the blue team
21:53bought they hopped into action buying the rabbit paperweight for nine pounds which ticked off my
21:59challenge of something containing blue their second buy was a glazed cat for 25 pounds
22:09and they finished with their big spend the wooden bench for 75 pounds
22:16blues you made that look easy you found the challenge quickly you had lots of options on the back burner
22:22did you have fun we had fun okay and how was miss barmer with the shopping fabulous
22:28is it you look surprised no it was good it started out quite chilled and then we just had a little
22:33rush at the end but all good tell me what was your favorite item peter cat you're a cat lover too
22:40all right put it there put it there okay sarah what was your favorite item the rabbit paperweight
22:46now the paperweight was my challenge item yes to buy something that contained the blue but what do you
22:51think would make the biggest profit the cat the cat what about you what do you think all right
22:58so how much did you spend in total 109 pounds right so you've left izzy a whopping 191 pounds hand it
23:06over thank you very much i hope you've got big pockets for all of that what are you planning to do
23:12i know you were desperate for some silver so i'm going to see what i can find brilliant
23:16well while izzy goes off in search of a bonus buy i'm going to learn about some fascinating local folklore
23:28across the world every culture has its own stories and superstitions passed down through
23:34generations from mythical creatures and local legends to magical men and women and in this part
23:41of west wales folklore has played an important role in shaping history to find out more i've
23:48come to the carmarthenshire county museum to meet folklore expert dr owen williams hi owen lovely
23:54to meet you nice to meet you too thank you for coming now owen why do you think folklore has been
24:00so important to people in this part of wales a lot of these stories around folklore are transmitted
24:06through the welsh language it's one way of keeping the language alive and part of the intangible
24:12heritage that makes this part of the world so special well when you think of folklore you think
24:16of stories and superstitions but it can also be linked to real physical objects like these can't it
24:23objects derive a lot of their meaning from the stories that are attached to them like this for
24:29example it looks like part of a tree this is a fragment of an oak tree that was planted in nearby
24:36carmarthen town and it's grown to be known as merlin's oak by local people merlin as in the wizard
24:44that's right yes one thing that's been said is that merlin made a prophecy about this tree
24:51when merlin's oak shall tumble down then shall fall carmarthen town
24:57so the people of carmarthen thought of it as something sacred but sadly um a local man around
25:041856 decided to poison the tree because local people used it as a meeting place he lived nearby
25:13and got sick of them discussing their affairs every day and did the tale come true did carmarthen town
25:19fall well thankfully not carmarthen is still here luckily now i never knew that merlin was thought of
25:27as being welsh let alone from carmarthen there have been stories dating back over a thousand years
25:34that link merlin to various parts of wales but particularly to carmarthen he would probably have been known
25:43more as a physician or a prophet perhaps
25:46but why do we call him a wizard if he was more of a physician or a prophet because he may well have
25:53been somebody who was known as a man of the woods type figure who was able to maybe predict weather
26:01patterns and over time stories got exaggerated and so he became associated with magic because that seemed
26:09to be the only explanation for people back in those times clearly it was a very superstitious time
26:15why do you think that is well at the time of course they didn't have any newspapers or radio
26:22so stories were often the ways in which people came to understand the world and that's how we got the
26:29tales of merlin that we know so well today were there any folklore beliefs that protected against evil
26:36at the time yes there were many for example this was once known as the magic eye what is it it's actually
26:46a potato with matchsticks stuck into it so what was it actually for well it was actually used to
26:53protect crops okay so this was found in a carmarthen garden around about 1910 and it was hung over a
27:02patch of peas growing there and it was just believed to have protected them against external threats like
27:10insects birds or even bad weather sort of like a medieval starchy scarecrow that's absolutely right
27:18and this object here had a similar purpose of repelling evil now what is that it looks like hair is
27:25it human hair animal it's actually horse hair horse hair it was found hung up on the back of a door
27:33in a local town called lan only about 20 minutes from here
27:38it was said to have been hung at the doorway to protect against anything evil coming into the
27:46property now i'm sensing a theme because you know this is all about protecting the crops and the home
27:53exactly it was incredibly important to people especially in a rural area like carmarthenshire
28:00now we've talked about these small items but my eyes being drawn to something magnificent and rather
28:05large behind me this cauldron is believed to have dated back at least to the 1800s in eastern carmarthenshire
28:14it was used by a local wise woman to create all sorts of herbal remedies salves balms and tonics
28:23now when you say wise woman do you mean a witch well funnily enough no okay there are actually very few
28:31reported incidents of witches in this part of wales and indeed in wales in general women who
28:39came up with herbal remedies were known as wise women and they were very well respected within their
28:45communities whereas witches of course were seen as people to be feared oh and thank you so much for
28:52your time i've loved learning about carmarthens folklore and its medieval beliefs thank you
28:57but now it's time to see if our teams can conjure up any magic over at the auction
29:05and for today's sale i'm staying in carmarthen i've come to meet auctioneer ian taylor
29:11ian lovely to see you thank you very much thanks for coming now let's get started we've got some
29:15interesting items here on the table so the reds michelle and adele were shopping with richard and
29:21their first item is this really sweet victorian silver pin dish 1895 birmingham silver what do you
29:29think it's really pretty uh very ornate with a nice pierce decoration there a little bonbon dish and
29:35there's always a good market for silver in our auctions sounds good but what's your estimate well
29:40we've only put 10 to 15 pound on it okay well the reds spent 35 pounds on this um i think that's going to
29:47be difficult to achieve i have to be honest with you might be a little lost there more of a retail
29:51price i would have thought so yes now the second item is this quite quirky pair of decorative crown
29:58sculptures would you say that they're fashionable they are we we sell a lot of sort of garden and
30:03rustic furniture okay so what's your estimate uh we've put 30 to 40 on them i i do have a feeling
30:08that they might make a little bit more than that well that would be good because this is their big spend
30:13okay so 85 pounds they've spent on this yeah yeah you never know you never know i think it's going
30:19to be tough i think it's going to be tough to get that much okay well fingers crossed so moving on to
30:23the last item which is my challenge to buy something containing red and there's a set of these minikari
30:28persian enamo dishes they are predominantly blue but there is enough red in there to tick the challenge
30:35so they've been quite clever here what do you make of them uh they are they are quite nice and decorative um
30:41however uh there isn't a huge amount of quality to the pieces and they're quite light okay so what
30:48do you think they'll make at auction for the three we've only put 10 to 15 pounds on them right well
30:52they got the three of them for 20 pounds which sounds good but fingers crossed we need a bit more don't
30:58we yeah we could get there right okay so that is the red team's items now moving on to the blue
31:04we've got sarah and pete who are shopping with izzy and their first item is the challenge item to buy an item
31:10containing blue and we have ironically a red paperweight rabbit but with a blue pom-pom tail so
31:18again they've been creative haven't they i think someone's laughing at my challenges
31:23so what do you think of the rabbit i think it's quite sweet actually there's not much
31:26edge to it a little modern art class paperweight or desk weight whatever you want to call it what
31:31do you think it will make at auction we've put a guide price of 20 to 30 pound on the rabbit right
31:36well that's good they only spent nine pounds on it right so you can't really go wrong with it can you
31:41they will definitely make a profit on that fabulous now this second item is my favorite because i'm a
31:47cat lover it's this 20th century ceramic study of a seated cat it's looking very peaceful and serene
31:53don't you think it's a good size and it's got this nice sort of salad and glaze which is always
31:58popular um so yeah i think i should do all right as a decorative piece so what's your estimate for
32:03mr cat we've put 15 to 20 on the cart okay well it costs 25 pounds which i think is doable for a
32:09profit we're almost there okay the final item is a bit of blacksmith salvage in the form of this bench
32:15it's a really nice piece it's industrial but it would also fit into other interiors as well
32:20okay in terms of money how do you think it will do well again a difficult thing to value it's quite
32:25bespoke there's not many others around so we put 30 to 50 on it okay well this was the blues big spend
32:3175 pounds spent on it okay i i think we still have a chance though all right okay you're feeling
32:36hopeful yes okay we're time to head to the rostrum and best of luck thank you very much
32:39at 90 and i sell at 90 online at 90 is the five 90 pound reds how are you feeling you're at the
32:50auction really excited looking forward to it i'm a bit scared bit nervous oh do you know what say no
32:55more because your first item is coming up it's your late victorian silver bonbon dish very sweet very
33:01petite 35 pounds spent best of luck what's that worth 20 pounds 20 for it 20 is bid online at 20 at 20
33:12at 20 28 28 30 30 pound bed i will sell for 30 pound right okay so you bought that for 35 so for 30 so
33:27you're at a small minus five pound loss but you've got your big spend coming up your pair of decorative
33:33crown sculptures now you spent 85 pounds on them 42 pound 50 each let's see how they do two commission
33:42bids putting me in at 35 40 pound i have 42 5 8 50 55 in the room commission's gone 60 65 70 75
33:5780 85 95 is bid it's in the room against you online they're unusual 100 110 oh well done are you done
34:12online i'm selling to the room bidder for 110 yes well done we like that yeah so that was 85 pound you
34:20spent on it sold for a whopping 110 pounds that's a nice 25 pound profit taking your minus five to a plus
34:2620. now your last item is your challenge something containing red it's your persian enamel items
34:33three for 20 pounds uh they're decorative aren't they what are they worth 20 pounds 20 for them any
34:39interest online at 20 10 10 10 pound 20 bid online come on at 20 only then it's a maiden bid then in and
34:49out sell for 20. evens well folks you're keeping my numbers nice and easy you bought it for 20 it sold for
34:5820 so your plus 20 remains plus 20 but it's a profit isn't it yeah but it's not finished yet of course you
35:07left richard 160 pounds for his bonus buy do you remember yeah right so close your eyes nice and tight
35:15richard off you go get your bonus buy thank you richard over to you open your eyes
35:24and let me show you what i thought was a pottery vase from 20 paces it is in fact an art glass vase
35:34but it's very very stylish it's got that swedish look about it which i obviously liked but looking
35:39at the look on your face you're thinking what has richard bought it's marrow shaped i thought it was
35:44a vegetable yeah so how much did you pay for it richard i paid 16 pounds for it oh and how much do
35:53you think it'll make well to remain consistent i hope it makes at least 20 pounds i think we go for
35:58it okay yeah we go for it we're back yeah fabulous definitely going for it yeah okay the reds
36:05are definitely going with richard's bonus buy but what does the auctioneer make of his marrow vase
36:12i quite like it actually it's got a very good contemporary look about it now what kind of
36:16estimate would you put on this well based on it um there'd be a normal maker's mark only 10 to 20.
36:21richard spent 16 pounds so that slides into the middle of your estimate so fingers crossed for a
36:26profit i think we have a chance the good news is the auctioneer likes it he also thought it was pottery
36:33until he realized it was glass 10 to 20 pound estimate put on it it's coming up right now best of luck
36:41now we move on to the unusual continental marrow-shaped glass vase good decorator's piece what's that worth
36:4630 pounds 30 for it yes 20 to go 10 10 pound 10 is bid thank you in the room at 10 10 is bid at 10
36:58at 10 final call i'm selling it 12. lovely oh come on fresh blood then we sell 12 only they're all coming
37:06now 15 20 20 22 no you sure 22 of the bids then 22 pound well done that was looking a bit touch and go
37:17there wasn't it right so for 22 a lovely profit of six pound so your plus 20 goes to plus 26 and well done
37:25that's a good result but just keep it to yourself we will blues smiles all round i take it you're
37:37feeling happy oh yeah it's so exciting all right well it's kicking off because your first item the
37:43challenge item is coming up something containing blue it's your red paperweight rabbit with a blue tail
37:50nine pounds spent best of luck i've got six commission bids 5 10 15 20 22 pounds it's hopping along
38:0110 to pound i'll take five at 22 pound then on the commission me to sell the rabbit at 22
38:09Well done, hoppity hoppity hop. So your £9 went up to £22, £13 profit. So your second item is your cat. £25 spent, no money at all. It's coming up now.
38:25There we are for all you cat lovers, lot 208. What are we looking at? £30? £30? £20 will buy it. £20? £10? £10 bid. I'm up to £32 online. £35? £38? At £38? At £38, then. On the cart for £38.
38:44All right. Well, it's lucky. Lucky £13 cost you £25, so for £38. So you made £13. So your plus £13 went up to plus £26. But we've got the big spent. The blacksmith salvage Welsh bench. £75 spent coming up now.
39:01So what are we looking at? £100? £100 for it? £50? Got to be worth that, isn't it? £50? £30 to go then. All the interest. £42 is bid online. At £42?
39:14At £42 and £5? £45? £48 is bid online. £48 is the £50? At £48, then. Final call. Are we done? Finished at £48?
39:26Oh! Oh, dear. Right. OK, well, this is very interesting here. You bought it at £75. So for £48, so you lost £27. Yeah. So your plus £26 goes to minus £1?
39:39Oh! But that surely has to be the easiest pound to pull back in.
39:44Come on, Izzy. Come on, Izzy. Come on, Izzy. You left Izzy £191 for her bonus buy. Yeah. Blues, close your eyes. Off you go, Izzy. Get your bonus buy.
39:55Izzy, over to you. Open your eyes. Ta-da! Oh, so good. So, it isn't marked as silver, so it's white metal, but I suspect it is silver, because it has a bit of give.
40:06And it's a Humpty Dumpty bookmark. How much was it? It paid £14. £14. And what do you think it might make, then?
40:12I would probably say 10 to 20 on a bad day, 20 to 30 on a good day. Go for it. Go for it.
40:18Are you going for it, Blues? Yes. Definitely. OK. The Blues are going with Izzy's bonus buy.
40:23But what does the auctioneer think of her little Humpty Dumpty?
40:25I think it's lovely. Very unusual item. Not sure if it's silver. We'll have to call it white metal. But it is quite pliable.
40:34OK. What's the estimate on him? We've put 20 to 30.
40:37Right. OK. Well, Izzy spent £14. I think she got a good buy there.
40:40I think that's a really good buy.
40:43Blues, the auctioneer, likes it. He's put an estimate of £20 to £30 on it.
40:48Ooh. As you said, Izzy, on a good day. Now, you only spent £14. So, fingers crossed, you claw back into profit.
40:55Brilliant. Brilliant. Good luck. It's coming up now. Thank you.
40:58For old Humpty, what's he worth? £30?
41:0120 to go, then. Is he worth 20? 20 is bid. At 20.
41:05Well done.
41:07It's a maiden bid of 20. Is there two anywhere? Final call, then. I am selling.
41:12Go on. 22. 25.
41:1425. Against you, one line. Do you want eight?
41:17Come on, sir.
41:1728. 30. Still going at 30.
41:21I'll take the net.
41:22Final call. The gavel is up. Last call at 30.
41:27Yay!
41:28Well, well done. So, Izzy, you bought that for 14.
41:32It's over 30, which is a nice £16 profit.
41:36Wonderful.
41:36Taking your minus one to...
41:38Plus 15.
41:40Yes, you're back on the right side of zero.
41:43Well done. Are you happy, Blues?
41:44Yeah.
41:47Reds. Blues. What an eclectic mix of buys. You're all going home with money.
41:57So, well done.
42:00But there's only one winner. And the winning team are the Reds.
42:04Yay!
42:06Well done.
42:07Well done, Reds. Well done. I'll come back to you.
42:11Now, how are you feeling, Blues?
42:12Oh, we had a great time. Yeah, we had a great time.
42:15Brilliant.
42:15Yeah.
42:15Good. Good. I can tell. You started off strong. You had a couple of good profits. You're up to £26.
42:21And then you lost 27, taking you down to minus one. But, bonus buys stepped in and took you back into the money at £15.
42:31So, who wants the £15?
42:32Me, please.
42:33Oh, didn't think twice there? Well done, Blues.
42:37Reds, coming on to you. Today's winners, finishing up with £26.
42:42Oh!
42:42So, there wasn't much in it. £11, folks. You started off in a negative. You clawed it back with your crown sculptures. And then you broke even again. But the bonus buy got you another £6, taking you to plus 26.
42:55Who wants all this money?
42:57I love the money.
43:00Now, did you enjoy the whole experience?
